  • In this Episode:
    As we continue to prep for our 2023 camping season; we bought a Champion 2000, dual fuel inverter generator.
    We purchased the Champion 2000 from Amazon for $427 (price changes almost daily):
    www.amazon.com...
    We chose the champion because it was smaller, lighter, and quieter than the other generators we were considering. This generator will allow us to charge our RV batteries for short boon docking adventures. We plan to do more “off-grid” adventuring in the future, and we believe this generator will be an essential addition to our RV life.
    In this episode we will show you what’s in the box, and the break in procedure for the new generator.
    Friends, welcome to our RV Camping channel. Ryan and Rachel here, we are weekend warriors with a mission to highlight RVing in the eastern United States. We are joined by our daughter Sarah, son William, and our two dogs (Trigger and Lilly). Home is in Pennsylvania, and while PA is our favorite State to explore, we’ve found there’s much more to explore! Our 2019 Wildwood X-Lite is towed behind our 2021 RAM 2500 BigHorn. We hope you will subscribe, join us on some of our adventures and be inspired to go on your own adventures.

    Thank you, Ryan. Love the humor…propane funnel, warranty fail, etc. just picked this model up on Amazon and you did an excellent job of showing how this thing runs. Really appreciate the oil change sequence. Thank you from California!

    I run the Champion 2500 Dual Fuel Inverter Generator. It's light weight, quiet and it powers the bus' 8k btu window AC unit no problem. I only run mine on propane. My bus is diesel and I dont want to carry a 3rd type of fuel around as we always pack 1 or 2 BBQ tanks.

      That makes a lot of sense, I always have propane with us as well. I remember seeing the 2500, but I can’t remember why I didn’t go with that one.

    We opt to run propane in our dual fuel Westinghouse gen. It is less cost effective but we’ll never have to worry about a gummed up carb and can always resort to the gas if needed in a pinch. Do love the added flexibility of having your own power source though.

      Do you use a 20lb propane bottle? How much run time do you get out of it?

    • @Elredneck1
      @Elredneck1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mountainsintomemories We use the 20lb and could use one of the bigger tanks on the camper if necessary, in our case it helped with storage since we also used the tanks for our black stone grill. I can’t remember how long in total I got out of each tank but two 20lb tanks lasted me for 3 days in total, I think it was in the final day that the first tank ran out and I had to use the tank that was attached to our blackstone.
      I primarily ran ours to run the a/c during the hottest portion of the day and charge the batteries back up for the night. One tank lasted much longer than I thought it would. I assume your generator would run a little longer on one tank being a 2000 watt whereas mine is a 4500. If you consider Westinghouse in the future just know they have a known issue on the 4500 where a cable falls off the idle adjuster and you have to take the front panel off in order to attach it back; bad qa so some come from the factory that way but it’s been a great gen for us other than that.

    I have a champion 5500-watt dual fuel inverter generator. It's been great powered everything. I have wanted it to run so far perfectly. It even has a push-button starting option, which I absolutely love being an older adult.

    Propane is good if you only use it on occasion and not for long. Mainly cause it won't gum up the carb.

    When buying did you consider the warranty ? ... if so, what were your thoughts on it ???

    • @mountainsintomemories
      @mountainsintomemories  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bobackerman54 I think you could buy some sort of warranty for it, but I never buy those. Odds are I’d forget I bought the warranty by the time I needed it, or it wouldn’t cover whatever broke.
      FWIW, I haven’t had any issues with the thing. I run no ethanol gas, always starts right up.

    If it’s colder than -44 degrees Fahrenheit propane is a liquid and you could actually funnel it. That’s no lie, just an interesting fact.

      @mountainsintomemories  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Interesting. I hope I’m not outside trying to start a generator when it’s -44 degrees, but here today it was 103, so I’m not sure what’s worse…

      Yeah I opened the door as soon as I quit filming. Can’t film anything outside because of road noise.

    Very, very difficult to start on propane

      If you call 4 pulls instead of 1 "very very difficult"
