- These are the new 3rd Generation Astrox 88S Pro & 88D Pro. If you're new to the Astrox Family of badminton rackets, these are head heavy rackets. On top of that, these Astrox 88S and 88D badminton rackets are catered towards attacking styled doubles players. There are some differences in how the 88S and 88D are constructed which lead to how they feel difference which I talk about in this review video.

5K Subscriber Giveaway! Hey everyone, thank you for all the support on the channel so far. I'll be doing a 5k subscriber giveaway very soon so make sure you check out my Instagram for details, good luck everyone! 😀
I still use Gen 1 88s 3u (both a green/red and red/white version). I tried the Gen 2 but it didn't feel right, maybe just needed more time to acclimatise to it, but decided to stay on Gen 1. Did you try 3u or 4u? Interested to know your thoughts on the different weights if you were able to try them.
When I used to play the Gen 1 88d, I used the 4U but even still found that to be a little heavy. I tested both 3U and 4U for the 3rd Gen but nowadays I feel that I prefer 4U rackets especially if they are naturally heavier or if they are head heavy@@new2melbtango
Appreciate the content bro
do review other astrox rackets like Ax 99 and 100zz
Looking forward to see your review on the tour, game and play rackets!
forget about yonex non pro rackets lol, they're sucks, another brand is better at low and mid end class
Great video as usual 😀👍
Thank you! 😀
Excellent review thank you 👍
best review of these new rackets ...watched the whole review with full of excitement to try these rackets especially d pro
Such a great racket! and so many different combinations of strings that you can pair it with to dial in a feeling that you really like. Hope you enjoy!
@@howeezyHi, do you have alternative string to replace aerobite, cause my aerosonic string broke easily? That has good repulsion and control
@@jonathanlayadigo for exbolt 65, 66 ultimax or bg80
Honestly amazing video ❤
Thank you!
Thank you this video helped me choose which one to get
Glad it was helpful!
Very interesting Video👍 You Deserve more Subscriber❤
Thanks for the support!
Looking forward tour game and play versions😁🤘
Looks so much nicer than 2nd gen
Great review. Probably will get 88d pro soon.😂
Do you think the 88d pro is a good all-round racket for someone who plays both singles and doubles? I currently use a budget even-balanced racket and I am looking for a bit more power while not sacrificing too much playability. Do you think the 88d pro is the right choice? Also huge congrats on 5k subscribers!
If you're looking for some more power, I think the Astrox series is the way to go. Yes, I think that the 88D is a good all around racket for all events. You can try pairing it with the regular Aerobite string, such a good feeling!
be careful thinking that a head heavy racket will give you more power. Thats only true for beginners with poor technique or with top players in the world in singles have the time and can generate as much racket speed with these rackets than with a head lighter one...but that is not true for you and me. You racket speed will suffer and you smash (in game situations) will not be as powerful. For me, the Thurster F is the sweet spot. I have the 88d pro. have tried the 99pro and 100zz. None of these generated as much power (for me) than the thruster F. For a racket for singles and doubles, Id recommend trying the thurster F or 77 pro.
77 Pro more suitable - extra power while retaining playability. 88D Pro may slow you down too much.
More details and play feel of the 88D GAME and 88 PLAY please ..... 🙏🙏
For a lower-intermediate player like me, will I perform better with the PLAY, GAME or PRO model?
Hi. What you can tell about the difference between 88s Vs nanoflare 1000z?
Great review. Comparisons to the nanoflare 1000z? Haven’t clicked with it and am tempted to move back to astrox. Thanks
Yeah the 1000z is definitely not an easy racket to adjust to. This 3rd Generation 88D Pro is definitely easier to control than the Nanoflare 1000Z
Tried both 1000Z and 100ZZ. 1000Z - has speed but little power. 100ZZ - has power but slow speed. Realized the world smash record for the 1000Z is just a marketing tool.
Latest & greatest colourway tiffany blue good job !
@howeezy great review Howard! watched till the end, by the way for thicker strings do you recommend on setting it at a higher tension? like some of the players recommended me, or just the same as always? I am currently am using BG80 Power, was a BG66 / BG66 Ultimax / Exbolt 63 user.
Thank you! It depends on what you are used to or what you can handle. Higher tensions are going to be harder to control and also tougher on your wrist/elbows if you are not used to it. But I absolutely am a advocate for high tensions. It's the only way to achieve crispy explosive shots off the string bed.
U should try EX 68. Feel so much better than any string u use before.
Already test it with 88D pro gen 3. Lov it. 27 X 29 lbs.
I already used 80 power, 66 force, ultimax, EX 65, BG 65 Ti before. Ex 68 so much better feel. Not so stiff like Exbolt 65.
Great recommendation. I have also tried EX68 and it does feel great. But personally I still prefer Aerobite at 29x31 @@areastudiopropcgaming8674
@howeezy @areastufiopropcgaming8674 I finally am using Exbolt 68 on my main racket Victor Thruster F Enhanced, for me BG80 Power is better for smashing and clears, although it’s slower for net and drives (Ex68 is faster), but I tried my friend’s same racket with BG-80 and I think moving on I will just use BG-80 👍 I am mostly play double rear court player, but sometimes play singles
@@Hiro-tk7fx That's good to know. Don't forget to give Aerobite a try too. For me, it feels so crisp!
How does the 88D compare to 1000Z?
Hi, Howard. I'm a single player too. Would you replace your original racket with this 88d(3rd) when playing singles ? Thank your review.
Not sure if I’m quite ready to change rackets yet but this is definitely a front runner if I do
Thank you very much! Is there any similarities or differences between 88D pro vs 1000z pro?
88D Pro and Nanoflare 1000Z both have the compact frame with the concentrated sweet spot
Hello sir, how can you compare the 88d pro 3rd gen to astrox 77 pro. Thank yoou!
Hey Howard even though the new 88s pro is for front court players do you think it will be good for backcourt players as well
Of course, it doesn't mean it's bad for backcourt players. Just depends on what type of feeling you want. For example, Fajar Alfian from Indonesia is currently playing the 88S Pro and often times he is playing from the backcourt
Better get 88D pro gen 3. Its fits allround. 88S swing speed faster but not to powerfull on back.
new follower here❤
Thanks for the support!
how do they compare with the 2nd gen astrox 88? especially on the design?
I feel like the texture will be very good
Brilliant❤
It would be nice if you gave your opinion in the new 3rd gen 88D/S vs the 2nd gen versions
On 88D its so much better. No more sore arms when play long game with this gen 3. Accurate and stable smash and easier placing and dropshot. Especially if u string with EXbolt 68 27 x 29 lbs.
@@areastudiopropcgaming8674How would you compare gen 3 vs gen 2 in terms of power?
i dont understand why yonex use doff paint for high end racket, because AFAIK doff paint easy to crack..
and what if we lose or damage the bumper are they selling it or not ?
Hello Mr. Shu, can you PLEASE copare a make big rewiew of all Victor Thruster Racquets? Please, it would help me a lot😉👍🥃
Is there a huge difference between the 88s and 88d in terms of heavy to hold and easy to swing?.. or just a slight and unnoticeable difference?
I can definitely notice the difference. I wouldn't say that they are heavy to hold though. The 88D has a more whippy feeling to the longer strokes since the shaft is a tad longer and the head is smaller.
Can you review Astrox 100zz as well?
How does 88D pro compare to Victor Ryuga Metallic?
how do you think comparing 88d pro gen3 with 88d gen1? same almost?
Astrox 99 or the new 88d? I love smashing and someone said the new 88d out smashes the 99
can you tell the balance point of both the rackets ??
The different grip sizes are always advertised, but I can never find any G6 available for sale anywhere 😢
Yeah, depending on region and retailers. They usually stock different options. G6 is usually more rare 🥲
It's been a short time and you've reached this heights congratulations Howard ❤
If you were to compare the 88d pro vs the nano flare 800 pro what would u recommend for doubles player
Completely different. 88d pro is head heavy racket. Nanoflare 800 is headlight racket. So depends what type of doubles player you are. If you are looking for more power for attack then go with 88D, if you just want head light for quick reflexes then the Nanoflare 800 Pro
Astrox 100zz vs new 88d pro which is better for regular playing of doubles and singles and which one is easier to play with?
you should have wait for the 100zz Pro to make a comparison
I would get 88D pro gen 3. Easier to use bcz flex force. When play long game my arm dont sore anymore compare when i play with gen 2 88D pro.
100ZZ stiffer than 88D pro gen 2.
@@areastudiopropcgaming8674 thank you for replying
Hello, I want to know if you think the astrox 88D Game Version or Astrox Nextage is better since in my country the price of the astrox nextage has dropped, so both of them is around the same price range. If you haven';t tried the astrox nextage, may i still have your thoughts on it?Thank you
I would prefer the Astrox Nextage over the 88D Game. The Nextage series would be closer to or on par with Yonex Tour series than the Game series. So the 88D Tour would be more comparable to the Astrox Nextage than the 88D Game. Hope that is helpful!
@@howeezy Thank you!
3세대 아스트록스88d랑 100zz랑 비교했을때 뭐가 더 무겁나요? 어떤게 더 힘들게 느껴지나요?
Is there a risk of damage if your racket is rarely used but you left it strung? Or are there any tips and tricks for racket care that you rarely use?
Typically, no because the racket should only lose tension over time. Only caveat is if the racket wasn’t strung properly and there is disproportionate tension throughout the string bed. Then that could possibly cause the frame to break. I would say, just store the racket in a place away from extreme temperatures and away from sunlight and usually that should be good enough.
@@howeezy Thanks
Hi, thanks for the review
Can you please suggest which will be better. Yonex Astrox 88 play (3rd Gen) or Arcsaber 11 play. Want a racquet for both Doubles and singles. Both Attack and Defence. Basically a allround racquet.
Or any racquet would you suggest from Yonex other than these 2??
Adding Astrox 88 play to this comparison because Astrox is singles focused series but there 88d and 88s are doubles focused. And 88 play might be blend of both 88s and 88d. So might be suitable for both Doubles and singles and both Attack and Defence.
Please suggest which one to take for a allround game play in singles and doubles both.
The Arc Saber 11 is going to be the most balanced weight wise out of those. Any of the Astrox 88 will be considered more head heavy. So I would pick a racket based on how you like the weight distribution of a racket.
@@howeezy thanks for the reply. I have played with both the types of racquet (not specifically these). Played with Astrox 99 play and arcsaber 11 play. Able to handle both.
But my doubt is which will be better. Astrox 88 play (it is a doubles focused racquet but from a singles focused series) or Arcsaber 11 play. For both Doubles and singles and both Attack and Defence.
Asking you because. i did not got a hands on. On astrox 88 play. And since you have played with both. You can suggest better. What are your thoughts. Please reply
Currently I am using Arcsaber 11 Tour (3U) and more to play in Doubles, shall I go for Astrox 88D or 88S Pro (4U)?🧐
You will be going from a balanced racket to head heavy but if you take the 4U version the difference won’t be as drastic since the racket isn’t as heavy overall. If you really don’t like the Arc 11 Tour then yeah you could totally give the Astrox 88 a try, I personally prefer the 88D over the 88S
Damn I just got the 88S pro wanting a bit more smash power. I am getting into the intermediate level only and was originally using something like a whip - nanoflare 700. I didn't want to go to the 88D because I fear I cannot handle its stiffness and end up not even being able to smash. But after listening to this, I hope I would still love the 88S when I use it to smash from back court. I mainly play doubles and as of typing this, I haven't tried my new racket yet.
The 88S Pro and 88D Pro are both the same stiff profile actually. I think either way you will enjoy the 88S Pro in terms of better attacking/smashing over the Nanoflare 700!
@@howeezy I tried the racket. It was next level. Initially it felt off I didn’t have enough power but after warming up, it felt like a cheat. I could clear so high being out of position and all smashing are crisp. All net shot control is easy and consistent. I’d say drop shots are harder since it’s a struggle to be gentle.
Compared to the arcsaber 11 pro
, which one feels better and almost similar?
Oo this is a tough question. It's hard to say which one is more similar since Astrox is head heavy and Arc Saber is more balanced so they are naturally quite different. However, I would say that despite all the differences, the 88S Pro might be more similar because of the normal shaft size and regular head size.
Im using 100zz pro 4U right now. I want to get the 88s pro but don't want to lose too much power. Should I get the 88s pro 3U or 4U?
The 100zz is pretty heavy itself so if you jump to the 4U 88S Pro, it might be a bit light for you. I don’t think you will lose too much power but it will be a faster swing. Just weight for the follow through
want this. but gotta save for wedding. wish me doing well guys. thank you. 😂
Priorities 🤣
What about the play?
Super 🎉
Looking for Racquet under 3000 for intermediate
would you say the 3rd gen 88d pro has faster recovery time than the 2nd gen?
faster recovery time as in snapback for continuous shots one after the other?
@@howeezy ya, like get back in position for defense right after the previous shot
@@niajefyes, no more heavy racquet feel. Faster swing and reflex. I can play long game more comfort with gen 3. I use gen 2 before and after play long game, often make sore arms.
How do you compare nanoflare 1000z vs 88s model???
1000z is a headlight series racket. These Astrox are considered head heavy. So very different balance point
please review 88d tour
Pricing and options is my fav section
Glad you enjoyed!
Would you say the 88D pro has good control ?
I thought it had pretty good control but I do play singles and have some slower strokes than full out fast responsive shots for doubles.
we need an new generation astrox100, gotta keep the old tech, but replace some with a power assist bumper and the namd.
ngl, i would love to see how an astrox racquet similar to the astrox 100zz would perform if it was 10mm hh compared to 5mm hh; add the assist bumper; but also retain the shaft.
lol just me being delusional.
👀 you never know
so the D has same size frame/sweet spot as 1000z ?
They both have what Yonex calls the Compact Frame
88 s and D tour series reveiw pls
What string u use when testing? Hv u test exbolt 68?
This is YONEX Aerobite Control, probably at 31x33
I put Aerobite Boost on the 88D Pro and regular Aerobite on the 88S Pro both at 29x31 lbs so averaged out to 30 lbs.
@@howeezy Thanks for the correction, my fault
@@howeezywhat about exbolt 68? My daily 88D pro gen 2 4UG5 + BG65Ti (27-29 lbs).
I've tested EX65 with same tension before and it worst feel.
I prefer BG80 power , BG66 force and now BG65 Ti feel.
Which one is better nanoflare 1000z or astrox 88s Pro 3rd gen??
It’s hard to say which one is better. It’s what you prefer. Nanoflare 1000z is a headlight series racket. Astrox 88S Pro is head heavy
that arcsaber 11 pro is not power asist bumper but control asist bumper
You're right, typo on my part. My intention was to show that the shape is now different. It's much smoother and more seamless with the racket
Should i upgrade my 2nd gen to 3rd gen? 88D Pro, thx
Yes of course. I hv gen 3 and 2, and easier to use gen 3. Play long game no more heavy racquet feel but still powerfull smash (with EX68 27 X 29lbs).
How does the 88S compare with ars 11 pro, previous i have 1st generation 88D, before buy new raket this month?
Buy 88D pro gen 3 better than S if u play with 88D before.
Wish they kept the Extra slim shaft instead of the thicker ultra thin.
I quite like the Ultra Slim shaft also
The new Astrox 88s Pro Or the Astrox 77pro, which one has got more power? Anyone?
77 pro for allround.
Get 88D Pro gen 3. Its different feel from gen 2. Easier to use like 77 pro with less stiff feel on shaft (bcz 2G flex force and thinner shaft)
❤❤❤
I find the 88d pro 3gen very similar to 77 pro.
Your string used matter in the response of shuttlecock and repulsion, but you did not mention any of it.
if i play singles n doubles which is better?
Personally I think the 88D is also more fitting for both singles and doubles
What strings did u use on these rackets
Aerobite Boost on the 88D and Aerobite on the 88S

76 on newer gen 3, 68 on gen 2.

What diff from 88dpro 2nd gen
Completely new materials that make up the shaft and frame, Newly shaped power assist bumper. Overall definitely feels different than the 2nd gen
whats the string for 88d and 88s?
I used Aerobite Boost on the 88D Pro and regular Aerobite on the 88S Pro both at 29x31 lbs

Strung at 26 vertical and 27 horizontal, every shot feels and sounds much more dull than my other 2 older rackets that were strung at 25lbs
All things kept constant? Same string, same stringer, same knots, etc?
Right! Same stringer, knots, all strung with BG80, my two previous rackets were strung by him at 25lbs, and this 88s game I asked for 26lbs. The stringer said the frame can't hold the tension well and most likely I won't be satisfied with it.
