Thank you SO much for the instructual video. Got ny 7 year old - but in mint condition - Touareg and this problem has been driving me nuts. 2 floddings in two months! Now I feel ready to fix it. You're the best!
My 2011 Toureg was having this issue. I ended up pulling the entire plug out and trimming the flap slightly so it always had a bit open. I'm not crawling under there and going through that nonsense every year just to poke it out again. Thanks for the great video!
Excellent video, extremely helpful. I'd never have sorted this myself. My Touareg is 2018, the glove box component has connections for the CD player, A/C for the glovebox, an airbag switch and some other electrical connections too. So, once I dropped the glove box component, rather than disconnect all of these components I located the "flap" on the blocked pipe in the engine compartment and used a wire coat hanger to reach down to lift the flap which allowed clear water to drain through the engine compartment onto the road i.e. it appears that the flap got stuck in my case rather than the pipe being blocked by debris. Either way the video enabled me to diagnose and fix this problem. Thank you again.
Perfect. The tension clasp is the 'hardest' part of this process. A much better approach than going in from the outside / removing wheel and wheel well liner. Thank You
Thank you for this great video! I have taken my Touareg into a main VW dealer *TWICE* complaining of this, paid the £230 "investigation" fee, and they have never fixed it! I am going to send them a link to this now, and insist that they carry out this work for me, free of charge. If you do read this, then if you can help me solve another couple of problems, that would be amazing! The Sat Nav has stopped getting traffic reports for about 6 months now - it used to know about congestion and road closures - it just stopped getting them one day. Also, the maps are 9 years out of date now (Dec 2014 model) and they (VW dealer) told me they want > £650 to apply a software update, at which point I fell about on the floor laughing!
I have the same problem with my 2011 Touareg, today i took out the floor and drained water out from the sponge thing, it was awful how much water was inside and i didn't know where that water come from, i will try your repair. Thanks for the video 😊🙏
Thabks for the video. Helped me a lot. Specially the part with the metal clip. Was a bit of a pain but got it done. I actually pulled out the drain and cut the rubber flap. Hoepfully the water will flow better
Hello, at 1:58 you can see "green thing" just hanging there, any idea what it is, i just unclogged my touareg today and didnt know what it is just hanging on wire, wasnt sure if i unplugged something by mistake?
My cabin filter was soaked with mold bottom half. Gen 2 Touareg is model year 2011-2017 might be helpful to put that in the title. Great video many thanks!
I have massive intrusion of water when I go through car wash on right foot well of my 2012. I checked this Hose and my sunroof drain. Both were clear, attached and empty. Is there another space the water is coming in from?

Thank you from Australia. Just sorted my leak out as per your informative video. 👍
Spot on mate, just got a very tidy 2012 Touareg in Oz, two days in and wet feet for the passenger. This will sort the problem I reckon 🏆

Glad it helped! 👍👍
Solid write up, thank you! I ended up using the screw driver and 50PSI on a small air compressor and it was perfect.

Thanks heaps mate 👍 good as fixed. Hate to think what VW would have charged me for this 😕
👍 glad to help
Perfect, I used the poles from a home dryer vent cleaning kit. Worked so much better than a screwdriver.
Thank you mine is doing this. Here I thought it was the heater core. This I can fix myself thanks
👍👍
Thank you. My exact problem, will blow it out tomorrow -

Thanks for the info 👍
Thanks for this, worked perfect
You're welcome!
Same happened on my brothers Touareg but we cleared the drain from the engine bay side 👍
👍 I’ll look out for it on the engine side next time! I’ve only ever unblocked it from inside
What a brilliant video 👍🏼
👍👍🙌
Love you for this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks! Any ideas about the drivers side?
Not too sure on the drivers side but check the drain anyway
Brilliant worked a treat thank you
Glad to help 👍
Do you think it’s worth getting the sound deadening out from under the carpet to dry out or should it dry ok without removal? Thanks
I’d put a dehumidifier in it for a few days 👍
Very helpful thanks
You're welcome!
Thank you
Is the procedure the same for right passenger side?
Yeah it will be

Hello is your car a right hand drive ..because I have the same issue my car is. Left hand drive 2008 ..every time I make. Right hand turn water comes out onto my foot ..
Yeah this was rhd mate , not sure if they suffer the same issue in the earlier model , could also be the scuttle drains blocked
Can you do it from the driver side??
No only the ns (on a rhd car )
What gets clogged in the tube ? I am having trouble with my car as wel
Just gums up with grime
Good job sharing
Thanks Alex! 👌👌
Is this Design flaw in the new models of the VW touareg?
I’m not too sure tbh mate , will check on the next one I get in
@@diydaly cheers
@@buridah328 👍
I've had similar problems on my 2006. This time, I'll try to do it myself.
lovely video mate, lets c if it helps with my treg!
Glad it helped
Similar problem with Volkswagen sunroof drains. Usual solution is to remove the “spider trap” from the end of each drain.
👍 yeah soon block up don’t they! I’ve trimmed a few off 👌
I wonder if that's what's gone wrong on mine-- I get water in the passenger footwell, when I go through a car wash
