These commercials took place five days before the series premiere of The Simpsons, and four days after The War of the Roses, which had one of the Simpsons shorts from The Tracey Ullman Show (Family Therapy).
I was born in D.C., and I grew in up certain parts of Maryland: Silver Spring, Tacoma Park and Hyattsville. I was in Silver Spring around this time dated 1989-1990, WTTG Fox 5 was my station, too. And I watched the premiere episode of The Simpsons called "Simpsons Roasting an Open Fire" (titled onscreen as The Simpsons Christmas Special) on the Fox Network.
I remember in 1989 during the days leading up to Christmas in the DC area had snow cause when I was attending Benjamin Foulois Traditional Academy (pretty much an Elementary School through the 6th Grade near Joint Base Andrews, then still called Andrews Air Force Base). I traveled to New Carrollton for our school's Christmas party at La Fountaine Bleu, me and my classmates had our snow gear on cause the day we took our trip to the party, it was snowing and a lot of slush on the ground (thank god I wore my snow boots that day). Then on Christmas Eve, it was really cold, similar to the bitterly cold Christmas Day of 1983 when I was 2 and probably don't remember it being that cold. Anyhow, it is one of my Christmas traditions to watch "A Christmas Story" at least once a year and it is a timeless classic
