    Being born in the 70's, the 80's is the only decade I really wish I could go back to and these commercials are about as close I'll get to that, so thanks for all of your uploads!

      I wish I was born in either 50’s or 60’s. Being born in the 90’s just sucks.

    I remember these well. It makes me want to go back to a time when I was a kid, with my mom was alive, no bills, no worries, no fucking coronavirus....just living life with my family!!

    At that time, The Men's Wearhouse was also largely confined to the
    San Francisco Bay Area where they established a second headquarters.

    I love this stuff. I didn’t grow up in Houston but I was roughly 5 at this point in time. I’m sure I have seen some of the National commercials (I’m guessing on here it’s may not be much)
    Still love local commercials especially from this era. I had a lot of vhs of local tv showings of movies and stuff and wish my parents didn’t toss them. I would put them on here if your enjoyment!

    After Rupert Murdoch became us resident he enjoyed metromedia stations.

    This is interesting. Always thought the O&O graphics debuted with Joan Rivers.

      From what I've been able to gather, after Fox bought the Metromedia stations and started branding them as "Fox Channel #" in 1985, they debuted a grey-palette look across the O&Os (seen at 21:11), then rolled out the black/purple/gold look at the start the Fall 1986 season, just before the full network launched.

      @@Channel37TV From what I've seen, WNEW didn't become WNYW until January/February of 86, so presumably that's when the temporary "grey" look was introduced. They didn't re-brand any of them during 85.

    I don't think Paul Christy is the primary VO on the spots. He definitely is on the ID at 12:30, but the rest... not sure.

    Does this have a newscast?

    • @HoustonTVHistory
      @HoustonTVHistory 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jordanthomas7304Actually, the full-length newscasts started earlier in the decade, when it was still under Metromedia ownership. The set they picked up during that time lasted them into the 90s, believe it or not. They also had news updates in english and spanish for several years prior, IIRC.
