Thanks for the video. Brings back memories working on an old Bucyrus-Erie H-5. It had an IHC501 in the lower unit

Believe me. It drives me crazy too and we plan to repaint the crane within the next year.

I am not sure exactly what type of engine it had. I know, however, that it was gas. We had a pair of the truck mounted Northwests. They were former New York State Canal Company cranes. That was the parts unit and the other working Northwest was up by our shop. The parts unit left the property a year ago and the working crane was driven off of the property last weekend by its new owner. We did have another Northwest crawler with a Murphy in it, but it has also found a new owner.

Thank you. We would welcome you to visit. We volunteer on Tuesdays all day and into the evening and all day on Saturdays. The museum is open for public operations on Sundays through the end of October.

@frosty012 The upper engine is a IH U501 6-cylinder gas engine. The lower unit is powered also by a 6-cylinder IH, an RD501.

A proud old beast that just about takes two men and a good boy to operate. I'm betting the drums are running through a three or four speed gear box. Anybody actually know?

I hope to have more videos up from activities this summer. We have significantly less heavy equipment now so there is not quite as much to shoot. Most of it has been sold off in the past two years. We really need more volunteers to help us in our heavy equipment department in hopes of keeping what we have left running and running well.

Thank you for showing this. Bucyrus Erie
      Truck crane. I own a 1978 Dynahoe-190
It's my Toy for my yard, whatever needs digging up. Be it my small garden, completely turn over the soil each growing season. I look at my garden as a strip mine, I call my Dynahoe
(Little Muskie) after the monster dragline BE made for Ohio coal mine. I like corn, it's so easy to grow. I have dug up my front driveway. Ran a new water line under the new cement. My wife has raised me in the front bucket to trim overhang of branches in trees. I have never had to do any engine overhaul (353 Detroit Diesel)
just keep clean OIL in her (40Wt.) I also have a 8V-71 in a 1971 SeaGrave Fire Engine I'm restoring. Never touched the engine on that, just some Transmission work on 5 speed
Spicer/Dana the clutch needed TLC. The Backhoe had over 8000 hours on her when I found her in 2003.
