    It does help. Thank you. Paint waste has been one of my main challenges to overcome and in one video you solve my problem.

    David, I have learned more about color and the fundamentals of abstract painting in a few of your videos than anywhere! Love your humbleness and looking forward to catching you at a workshop. I just started painting a few months ago and I love your lessons . I have no clue about art fundamentals but just wanted you to know how much you have helped and inspired me in a very short amount of time! It’s cool you are helping folks out!

      Paul Michael thanks so much for that, I appreciate it! Most people teach technique, which doesn’t really matter. The fundamentals are the building blocks and are the most important. Best wishes on your painting journey, and thanks for watching!

    Hello David, I love your passion and style coupled with a genuine and natural teaching ethos. I have been sculpting on and off for many years, this has been my true passion. However as you know a truly creative mind likes to explore, so I decided to have a go and painted some abstracts over the Christmas break into January this year, needless to say I had the time of my life. The only problem was that It felt like I was cheating on my sculpting projects! Only now do I realise that they have an equal part in my life. My long suffering and very kind wife has been saying to me recently 'choose one or the other' well there is a third choice in my mind - I choose both. Thank you for sharing your talented passion, I am learning something new every day. Respect and love, the creative mind is always alive. Richard Heriot-Spence. UK.

    I have recently found your videos and I love them. So helpful. I am going to start buying paint in jars! I hate waste and you are right about being afraid to squeeze out too much paint haha. Thank you so much for these videos.

      Deb Menken, glad the videos are helpful for you. Using paint in jars is one of the easiest ways to loosen up your painting approach - along with using large brushes!0

    David, I love your videos! Do you add anything to your paint before you begin a painting such as mediums or retarders? Thank You!

    As a starter cheat sheet on expanding my pallet away from Hobby Lobby liquitex, which I still like better than the other acrylics they have available there, is there a list of colors that you prefer from the different companies anywhere? I like your color schemes and I thought it'd be a good starting point to go from to start with your favorites until I can figure out what mine are. Like who do you buy your alizarin Crimson from for example? I'm not wanting my art to look like yours, I just wanted to narrow it down a little bit. I'm thinking that I'm going to go with the thinner Paints in colors that make best for backgrounds and saving those of the thicker ones for those colors that Pop put those brighter warmer colors over the top of the more subdued thinner paint. I'm not sure if that's what you do but, that's what I'm planning on doing.

    thank you for your videos, very helpful, one question hopping to get an answer for is how do you dispose of the dirty water after you're done painting, any advise?

    • @davidm.kesslerfineart1717
      @davidm.kesslerfineart1717  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      claudette Kiwan thank you. I heavily dilute the water and pour it down the drain filtering out any solids.

    Do you ever print glicee limited editions? Its something that im looking into at the mo. Thanks for all your help. Its much appreciated. X

      Sonia Finch I only sell originals. Reproductions are for artists whose originals are extremely expensive and out of reach of most customers. In my opinion you’re wasting your time - your time will be better spent doing more paintings. Keep in mind that each giclee will be money that you can invest in better materials. If your originals are just marginally more expensive than the reproductions then why bother? It is a typical trap that many beginners want to get into.

    Very helpful video. Is liquitex considered professional paint

    • @davidm.kesslerfineart1717

      AC Arts 15, there is a student grade Liquitex paint called Basics, but the rest of their line is professional paint.

    I read an article that said how great the brand Utrecht is yet some feel that it does not mix well with other brands. What has been your experience?

      Heather Quaine I’ve never has any issues with it. It’s good quality professional paint.

    Was wondering, is it ok to use indoor acrylic house paint on canvas?

    • @davidm.kesslerfineart1717
      @davidm.kesslerfineart1717  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sarah Dell sure you can use house paint, but why in the world would you want to do that? You will never learn color theory or how create harmonious color combos with house paint - because they are not made in artist colors. Please don’t go down that road!

      David M. Kessler Fine Art was just curious. I'll eventually be doing murals once I find a wall with owners willing to let me practice 😂 I'm trying to learn all I can about different mediums and what can be used with various techniques, surfaces, etc...
