The joke is fine, but he is not even doing anything like it. Notice that he first slices a trowel, but what he glues in the end ia a different piece of metal (this one has diagonal slots on the opposite side).
Doesn’t everyone think this bloke has the right sort of voice to be a narrator or to read for and audiobook company. I think it is a very pleasant voice to listen to.
I’m not sure if you should be disqualified from commenting on pleasant sounds or if you should be considered an expert witness with a name like velcroman11 .
Drew I'm a 68 year old retiree who decided to take up woodworking a few years ago. After collecting the various tools required, I started watching your videos and became a subscriber. You had when I saw one of your videos in which you wore a shirt that said, "Trust me I'm an engineer". 🤣I found this to be funny as heck, since I retired as an engineer in the O&G industry. Please be advised I've purchased some of your plans and I just completed my first box joint! Great videos and excellent plans. Keep them coming Bro! Thank you for educating me and keeping my brain stimulated in my golden years. Now I wish I had another 68 years to develop my woodworking skills.
Hola! 🖐Makes me want to just throw everything that's in my garage out, plug in my table saw and just get going! These jigs are awesome, thanks for sharing your builds with us. Excellent job, thanks. Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
Bit of a newbie to woodworking but come from a background of ‘Toolmaking’ & appreciate your no nonsense & so concise videos. Your ideas are great. Also can I add that not having any annoying back ground music is ‘Music to my Old Wrinkly Ears’. Thanks.
A piece of advice to every woodworking beginner ... don't waste your time on TH-cam searching for table saw jigs and watching tens and tens of videos ... just watch part one and two of this video ... simple , efficient , accurate , and amazing .
You're humor and enthusiasm got my attention not to mention what wonderful jigs you make. I will be buying the plans and building them all for my new shop in progress. Good job!
Just wanted to say I appreciate how well produced all your video are. I know it must be time consuming. I particularly like the of screen narration. I’ve watched a few just for the entertainment value. And in this one the use of a trowel was a real stroke of genius. Thanks Mr. Fisher
This might be my favorite box joint jig I've seen. The mechanics of using it are so logical and straightforward, and the build is simple but thought-out. I love it.
This video is very instructive for me. I am busy setting up my workshop (videos following my channel). I saved your video as inspiration to make my own jigs. greetings
Wow........your skill is intimidating. Makes my head swirl trying to take all of that in and know how it works. I am inspired though. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and skills. Amazing!!
I have read all of the comments (YOU DO BELIEVE THAT DON'T YOU) all kidding aside I did read a lot of the comments and it is agreed by all, that these videos are AWESOME! I am just getting started in wood working in-fact most of my tools are of the benchtop variety and most of those are still waiting on a bench to call home. still collecting ideas and waiting on warmer weather until then I will just keep watching your videos and pick your brain
Just made the box joint jig. Love the result once dialed in. Hints for anyone wanting to make theirs. That indexing key is MOST important part! Period! Took me 3 tries, then 3 more on the last one sneaking up on it.
I've seen many, many different designs like from Ed Stiles, Bourbon Moth Woodworking, John Heisz, Matthias Wandel.... but I really like your box joint jig the most! It's really not too complicated to build, it's versatile, and looks so convenient to use. TOP NOTCH
Bon courage... best regards
Well I finally got around to making your box joint jig. It’s by far and away the best I’ve used. I used my cnc to accurately cut the template to a 1/4” spacing. On my first try the joints fit perfectly. I’ve done other box joint jigs and you have to fiddle with them to dial in the fit. Not on this one. Cudos to you and your design. 👍
I bought the plans mainly for the box joint jig. I love the genius idea of using the trowel. I've looked at Matthais Wandel's and John Heisz's jigs, and while they are great, they just seem over engineered. I made a spacer block to help line up the pieces to further help with human error. Keep up the good work. Say hello to your neighbor for us. 😂
Love your videos very informative and the dad humor is off the charts, also you maybe the only youtuber that I watch to the end for the hilarious outtakes...great job all around
All of those jigs are well designed, practical and built in a way that most any beginner can do them. The video voiceovers are good and the occasional dry sense of humor entertaining. Well done, Man! I hope you sell a lot of plans and keep your channel going.
You make me giggle, oh, Clamp God. So many clamps. Jealous. LOVE the jig videos. I volunteer at a 50+ woodshop and we desperately need new jigs. I'm also making plans for a multi-use jig, so some of these ideas are brilliant. Wonder how many t-tracks is too many ... And I too will decorate with black walnut or some exotics. I have many exotics. Fancy business.
Love the jigs. Purchased the plans with the intention of making 2 of the spline jigs 1st - one for my table saw and a modification to cut dovetail splines on my router table, however immediately ran into a major issue. On my evolution rage5s table saw every time I try to cut the bevels on the 2 20" boards for the cradle the workpiece skews away from the fence leaving a far from straight edge. I have tried everything to hold it tight to the fence but even then I am getting a bow in the middle. My tune up is spot on. My stock is perfectly flat and square.I have searched TH-cam and Google and cannot find anyone else with the same issue! I'm at the end of my tether!! Oh how I dream of a sawstop!
I always look forward to your videos. You do good work. I enjoy your goofs also. Even people on youtube mess up; I don't feel so bad when I do. Thanks guy. Keep up the good work.
Drew, thank you sir. I told you I was going to buy the Jig Plans Pt. #2, and I just did... I'm not quite so far along that I'm ready to make the spline jig, but it's nice to have, and I just made a hard copy of the .PDF file... Thank you again, sir.
I've made a spline jig like that and it allows for more options that ones that are stationary. A couple of suggestions that made my jig better. First, you don't need 2 tracks for the stop blocks. One is sufficient. The second is to add a self-adhesive measuring tape. I marked a line from the kerf to the top so us short folks can see it (I work both at home and at a hobby shop, so multiple users), and then set a measuring tape across the top so I could be very precise. There are tapes available for both right and left, so it's super easy to go any which way.
Really enjoyed the box joint jig. I've been looking at a lot of these videos and decided on yours. I think this is the first time I've ever ordered a plan. I am impressed. I am a wood worker and only have use of my right hand (spinal cord injury 45 years ago) so I'm always on the hunt to find ideas that allow me to work safely in my shop. love the jig videos! I want to make them all! I've bought the plans and next weekend I'm borrowing my (former) friends trowel.
Haha! Yes!!
The joke is fine, but he is not even doing anything like it. Notice that he first slices a trowel, but what he glues in the end ia a different piece of metal (this one has diagonal slots on the opposite side).
@@claudiodigregorio4315 Same piece. I cut the slots in it for the epoxy to hold better.

That box jig is genius.
I am just so freakin happy that you dont use any background music

Love the video and the humor! Thanks for making youtube the awesome place it is.
Using the trowel teeth is a stroke of genius 👏🏼
The 1-1/2” midddle support which the blade passes through is a great idea…..very safe. I’ll use that on mine
Right on

Wow! Very impressed at the box joint jig. Using the tiling trowel as a template - so obvious it was genius
