same bro i just saw a liberate video at the same concert and it said full concert so all i thought was that i can watch the whole thing than i went to see the comments and i saw his logo and i knew who it was
My parent's were at this show. My mother was pregnant with me. I was born a huge fan. I play drums. I go see slipknot any chance i get. Was born into this shit. Im all about it still too this day. I am now 17 moving onto 18
It's funny how cameras back then had better recording quality than cameras today. God I wish I'd been born sooner, so I could get a taste of how ferocious this band was in their early days.
It seemed so much heavier back than too because the internet was still in it's infancy and you couldn't just easily go to youtube and find 400 bpm blackened death grind bands.
I was there! I was on the left side towards the front. Seen Slipknot several times live and this is still one of my favorite shows of all time (this and the time the back wall was ripped down at Harpos haha!). The Tattoo the Earth Tour t-shirt still hangs in my closet - and I'll wear it every once in awhile. Going to see them tomorrow at the Palace. Big thank you to the guy that recorded this!
I remember seeing slipknot on tattoo the earth tour here in san antonio and I had coreys mask and the media was interviewing me cause people in the area was complaining about the loud sound and wanted my opinion.
Damn, this was fucking awesome. Corey's voice is right in between going from his original scream to the Iowa scream. Shit from this era is rare as fuck
I was there. My first concert at age 14.. I'll never forget it. Crowd surfed, almost lost my pants, disposable camera, knife, and 30 bucks.. sang in the mic with clown and got some hand slaps from Sid (my idol).. one of the best nights of my life!
This video just brougt back a ton of memories. I was at the first Tattoo the Earth show in Portland when I was 15. Slipknot, Mudvayne and Slayer were the three bands that I had the most interest in seeing. This was their first show back in Portland after being banned from one of the smaller venues here for setting a dressing room on fire. The Slpknot set was easily the most memorable set of the day. I think it's either the very first or one of the first few times that they started the 'JUMP THE FUCK UP' during Spit it Out. I didn't know at the time that that was going to be a staple of all their shows going forward. I watched some dude get an elbow to the face from Clown also. He went out in to the crowd to drag Sid back up on stage and some ass tried to rip his mask off. Got an elbow to the face for his efforts. I could go on an on about how amazing that set was.
I saw them a week later in Dallas. Absolute chaos. One of the greatest shows I’ve ever been to. I’ll never forget the Get Behind Me Satan song to open. Thanks for posting.
I went to this show in 2000 at the Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix Arizona. It was my birthday and I had turned 18. I was so wasted and it was hot as hell. So much energy. Slipknot had their first album and it kicked ass..took my brother with me and he turned 16 two days before my bday. It's my birthday today and I just turned 39. My brother would've turned 37..RIP to Mt little brother and RIP to the drummer..
I cant believe u had this, i mean i remember hearing "surfacing" live off the tattoo the earth cd and always wish there was a footage to it and here it is. Fucking ay.... Im speechless. haha I was 14 when i had that cd and now Im 26 man how time flys. Also never new Mick played a BC RIch Beast live. Im still in awe laying here drunk in my room. once again thank you.
I've been to a bunch of Slipknot shows and that intro song just brings back memories. The moment that song goes on it was so refreshing, then anarchy. No better medicine.
I'm friends with your sister. I told her I was insanely obsessed with Slipknot and have been since 1999 and that I have zero people to talk to about them and all the cool little facts and stories about them and she told me to check out your insta and youtube. You're a fucking GEM dude. So glad she put me onto you. Glad to see your channel grow and to see that I did not know as much as I thought I did 😂😂. Stay up m8 😈🖕💙
The first time I saw Slipknot was the very first show of this tour @ Portland Meadows in Oregon. Such a sick show! Not just them...u had Hatebreed, Hed Pe, an unknown Mudvayne, Nothingface, then legends like Sepultura and Slayer plus a TON more.
Where was this video taken? I was working for a radio station Q 95.5 in the Rio Grande valley and met them and all the bands that night in Mercedes Tx, I was Dirty D the rescue driver, I remember earlier in the day it rained and I joined in a wicked mash pit and everyone was throwing mud ,lol great times I was 20,I'm 40 now, great show and concert!
man slipknot used to be such a fucking Punishing, fuckin Mutilating band. To be honest, I don't know why people forget this and MFKR. This should be up there with cannibal corpse and Morbid angel.
Holy shit. I was halfway through their set from 8/9/19 and thought, "Man I wonder if anyone taped the Slipknot show I went to in Pontiac 20 yrs ago..." I can't believe I found this!! I can't believe my mom let me go to this, hahaa!
Dude. Too awesome. This show was my first concert ever, I was 12 at the time. So awesome you have this. You did a great job filming and the sounds actually really good too. Do you have anyone elses set from that day? Sevendust, Sepultura or Mudvayne perhaps? Mudvaynes set was badass. Pooring rain, (My first crowd surf, and moshpit) was a great way to really get things going after the warm ups.
Honestly, this show was the most ferocious I've EVER been to. The bands were amazing and so many, when Slipknot hit the stage where I was in the crowd the crowd went absolutely mad, it was pretty scary actually. I eventually had to back up after falling beneath everyones feet and couldn't find room to get up. Somebody grabbed my hand and yanked me up. Bro had white shirt and i think white shorts i wanna say white shoes, i don't wanna lie i was baked and scared at that moment, not sure... but one things for sure. I made eye contact with the guy who pulled me up and without speaking I understood his eyes "I got you bro" first moment i felt safe since slipknot hit the stage. Prob stayed a few more minutes, lost my guardian angel so took forever but eventually got near the back of the main squished crowd front stage. I should never have tried to get so close, after already knowing the type of crowd. Something was definately happening. Felt very dark, but again so interesting. Things I've never seen in my life and know I won't ever again. The crowd during the day though, there was something in there air. Does anyone remember the crowd, even during the day? Most of my stories from that long memorable day, were the concert goers, not the artists. I have NEVER had a concert where the things going on in the crowd defeated artists on stage. Please if you were at this show 22 years ago reply. If u weren't at the show, that's a blessing...maybe a curse? You missed out on ovserving a very different side of this world. Maybe best you stayed home. PS: it was ao damn loud all 4 of us friends couldn't hear properly for it felt a long time lol
This video is a blast from the past. I remember standing almost exactly in the same spot this camera is during the intro, I was barely off to the right and I faintly remember somebody holding a video camera during this show. I think it was one of those VHS cameras where you put a whole VHS tape in the side of the camera and I think it was a gray camera and I think the guy holding it was taller than average height. He was hiding it, holding it down, trying not to get caught. I'm dying to know if I'm right.
man this video is badass i remember seen them on this tour in mercedes tx still one of the best shows ive ever been too music has gotton so soft now a days people always said that if it was to loud you where to old but shit its gotten to soft fml
I was in Portland... Slipknots set there was fkn INSANE. We went to a lot of concerts and were in a lot of pits... that was the craziest shit ever. I had people rolling over me, under me... it was people soup. I was covered in dirt and blood. Damn... Any clue who the person who filmed it was? Would love to find out if they have more. Whole show was great and Mudvayne was getting into there prime right about then so I would love to see that set.
How come I had to be born at a time when I was a baby/child for my favorite bands prime?? God I truly wish I was born earlier so many people who got to see them at this time In the bands life and I'll never see it and nothing like this will ever happen in music again because there's no "new and upcoming" anything anymore and the internet has given a voice to everyone so nobody fuckin tries anymore :( I truly hate this time we're living in
