I'm not exactly sure what you guys did differently than all the other lore channels, but this really helped me put my finger on the ins and outs of the story for demon souls. I was never quite sure why I couldn't really get a fundamental grasp on the intricacies but for some reason this kind of helped. Keep it up I will for sure be watching future videos if you keep them going!

I love how, technically, in all of these games, our character is supposed to be the most badass, unstoppable, almost psychotic, one man Army. Meanwhile, John Souls, my Biblically accurate chosen one, just got jumped by a single rat.
Yes and no keep in mind many bosses are not in their prime and serverily limited. Furthermore you rarely beat bosses the first time ok your first playt through. Much less the campaign.
Man, I'm sorry that John souls from down the street suffering through countless deaths, and never giving up, to defeat the weakened versions of gods, demons, and dragons isn't enough to make him literally better than all the people around him who failed to do the same.
What an excellent production. The earlier videos had really fast narration that I sometimes struggled to make out, but I've seen such improvements with each new video. This is by far my favorite alongside the elden ring series.

Elden Ring Shadows of the Erdtree dlc is out now so there's more fromsoft lore to look forward to. I've finished a playthrough and I'm going to do a slower playthrough because there's plenty of stuff I probably missed so it should make a decent video
Just realizing that stockpile Thomas and father Gascoigne are the same man just different sides of the same “coigne” (haha get it?) but foreal tho just saw the connection with the hair broach
I love the story of demons souls, its the only one out of every fromsoft game i can fully understand. All the other games I get lost in endless questions with no answers and lose sleep speculating them.

I have loved this game since just after dark souls was released, I've seen countless long-form analysis videos about it, and somehow after 11 years, you've challenged some of my most deeply held feelings about the material, most notably about Astrea. there's actually a theory that the "bad" ending of demon souls actually leads into dark souls. * both demon souls end & dark souls begin with the world enveloped in a colorless fog. * all the souls are gathered in one place by the end/ beginning (old one/ first flame respectively) * the old one's body looks like wood, which is the perfect fuel for fires * the old one is deep beneath the nexus, which could have become an archology with the rock growing around its form. (first flame is in a cavern, surging in a line like a burning corpse) * the souls that come from the flame are cursed, like they have been irrevocably poisoned. * hollows are likely incredibly old soul starved.
I can point out one flawed piece of that theory, disproven by DS1 2 and 3. Hollowing is induced upon humans, and does not need demonic influence nor great powerful beings or even manners of soul harvest, for as shown in DS2's case, and a degree of DS3 with the hollowing there, all it needs to fester is struggle or loss of purpose. It's conceptually similar, but the rules are still very different.
@@otamatonefan8996 id argue that's one of the many curses or poisons of the old one being transferred to the new world. the old one automated the process by having collected all the souls (& thus does not need agents to collect more, as its harvest & collecting is complete) before hand when all souls were not yet consumed by the old one, no-one hollowed. loss of purpose yes, but losing purpose didn't lead to you losing your core identity. after the old one consumed all souls & became the first flame? all souls derived from the flame were cursed, never forget that gwyn (himself not even of the human race) became a hollow despite having a purpose in ds1. the hollowing/ undead curse transcends racial boundaries as all souls came from the flame (thus the curse & poisons of the old one) the old ones curse is so powerful that the ancient dragons, beings of stone & mineral , lacking life were afflicted by the flame. (zombie dragons in the ds 1 canyon linking new londo to firelink shrine & the painted world of ariamis.)
Bro this is so incredibly obvious I have no idea why no one can put this together. The dark ending literally says "remake the world in a way you see fit" obviously, after having to fight a great old one and all it's demons for souls, the player character remade the world with a new aspect to the soul, humanity. A dark half that can counter the light. It's not "connected" because the world of Demon souls is lost, never to be saved. It all goes wrong anyway cos gwyn is a bih, and we see the dark part corrupted in the abyss leading to Artorias and all his reincarnations/descendants. We see this in Abyss watchers, Slave Knight Gael etc. In order to create a new world as Dark souls could no longer be saved, they gathered the BLOOD OF THE DARK SOUL and created a new world - a cool dark place that'll "work" differently. Then, we get Victorian London BLOODBORNE. A cool dark place, running on "blood", which turns people into "beasts" with the exact same look/style as Gael, their ancestor. The world is literally born from blood, under the attack of other "great old ones", so far from the original reality that anyone who could conceive the truth would be driven completely mad by this Eldritch truth.

As a Huge souls Fan and one that played the original and say one day the game will come back i'm just simply amazed by the amount of effort put into the video.
When I first played this in 2009, I didn't know about the sword used to slay The Storm King, so I carefully manually aimed and used arrows and bolts. Eventually I brought the beast down after a struggle of 22 minutes in one fight. My friend later told me about the swoed and I felt like an idiot.

As for the Phosphorescent Pole: Doesn't that refer to the Queen of Latria instead of the Maiden in Black? While both of them are situated high in the sky, the Maiden in Black having a candlestick and the pole being a pole is a rather shaky similarity, plus the MP regen is something a human would have more use of since demons don't seem to need MP to do things. The offline boss invader that the golden cloth possesses can cast magic infinitely after all.
I think it's not the lore per se but your amazing storytelling from visuals to the wordplay kind of like Vaatividya. I think if you wanted to you could expand on your success and either do other franchises or maybe specific characters in the Souls universe I would always love to see. Specific characters wouldn't take as long as a whole game to make a video on and you could really focus on this channel's strong suit of cinematography and engaging scripts. Great content as always.
