Thanks for doing this, had to watch it 2 or 3 times and mess around with my decimator for about an hour but finally got it. You did a fantastic job explaining this, honestly not sure I would have figured this out without your video.
Thanks for drawing the diagram, that really helped. I'm planning on using this to convert/scale my computer HDMI output to SDI for a Blackmagic ATEM input but also want to convert the SDI output from the ATEM to HDMI so I can record into an Atomos Ninja. Thanks to your explanation I believe this will work!
Thanks for your video. I have a Barco PDS902 that is DVI out and only 1080p out. I need to send 1080i to my projectors otherwise our powerpoint presentations will flicker. Will this scale my 1080p from the PDS902 to 1080i to my projectors?? My PDS9023g has SDI out and 1080i out but not the PDS902
If you send 1080/16x9 out of a switcher (to SDI in) then downscale that signal to 480/4x3 and send to a DVD recorder (HDMI Out) say with a zoom cut, is it also correcting the aspect ratio? If I have a perfect circle coming in to the SDI input at 1080 will I have a perfect circle coming out of the HDMI at 4x3? I want to record the 1080 to an Atomos, and also record DVDs for onsite dubbing. Video was FTW, TY.
Very succinct, thank-you.. I "liked" your video after 5 seconds - none of this "hey y'all, how's it goin' dudes, yer boy here, smash that like button" crap.. And the BigClive reference.. nice..
Can you confirm if this model outputs 576i50 SDI with the proper 50 fields of temporal data? I'm having a hard time figuring out why the couple of SDI downconverters (Blackmagic and Decimator) I've tried seem to discard half of the fields and when they output 50, in fact it's 25 doubled, which causes stuttering which is very bad for TV broadcasting! I'm beginning to think it's some kind of undesired deinterlacing performed by my monitor, but I can't possibly perform tests on another SDI capable monitor...
I have a TV show on a channel with very old equipment (aspect ration 4: 3), even though I record my shots in 4k the channel signal is not HD so it is cut when seen on TV, my production company used the Teranex for my program to see HD on TV, but now I'm not with them, they took the Teranex and my program is cut again, with the Decimator MD-HX can I solve this problem?
Can you set HDMI out to loop whatever is coming in via HDMI in, while simultaneously converting via SDI out? I saw SDI loop which seems to do the inverse of what I'm asking, but not the other way around. Thanks.
I used this device on many shows, and AV setups, and never knew it can do that much. Your video = VERY helpful! Thanks, Edward.

Great video! Can you please show the correct setting for SDI -> scaler -> all 4 SDI outputs.
Excellent overview, very informative. Thank you.
Nicely presented. Thanks.

I want to connect my C100mk2, Atem Mini and NInja V. I am streaming at 50fps and need 25fps. Will this give 25fps interlaced?
So does HDMI input only pass to SDI out Group 2?

i wish you could of show us how to set up those diagram drawings that you shown us on this video. i never knew that can be done..
Thank you!
Overall great video. However there is no "D" in converter..

THANK YOU!!!!
Set DUC REF to free run to see the no signal color
Ha ha, just caught the shout out to Big Clive...
Well done
This unit is $495 now.

Yes, at 1:52 I show the "HDMI OUT SOURCE" menu. The options are: Scaler, SDI, and HDMI. Setting it to HDMI makes it a loop out.
Edward Carlson awesome, thanks!
