When I started watching your videos I thought to myself, this is what I want, so I bought a tiki 26 project, and I can't wait to put it in the water, but I'm still on the first hull. when the 26 ends, I go to tiki 38. I want to see your tiki in the water do not give up. my name is Marcio and I live in Brazil, Ubatuba.
I'm from Bangladesh a South Asian country and watched all your episodes so good inspiring also but now I want to see your catamaran in the blue water. It has been long days you have no video so there it's really a deep expectation to watch you again and again.
Such a smart engine mount setup. Zero drag while sailing, easy access from the top, easy access from below when you need to have the engine out for major service.
Hello. I've seen everything you've made, I'm now sitting and wondering if I should start building the Tiki 46 myself. you have been the best I have seen on youtube, very few who have so much detail, and videos so are very inspiring and see you work. hope and look forward to you coming with more videos. best regards from Norway
Loving the enthusiasm and gusto you are putting into this project Mike. Great progress, I'm sure you're keeping all those end grains deeply sealed to last for years. Thanks for sharing what you are up to. Looking forward to seeing Ma'tiki on the briny. A pair of 20's should shove you right along when you need 'em to.
G'day mate, any holes drilled thru the ply should be oversized filled with thickened epoxy then drill thru the epoxy the right size, no water ingress into the ply! Pain in the ass though 😋👍🇦🇺
I thought the same, but it looks the boxes aren't fiberglassed and sealed anyways. Just painted. How long do you think something like that lasts? 10 years? I have no clue, new to boatbuilding just curious.
Happy New Year Mike, not gonna comment today Looking good you have plenty to be going on with from the comments below. always great to see you back. Cheers.
Hay brother im hoping life is good for you and your still working at this beautiful boat let us know your alright brother do a check in much love sent your way may the lord always be with you
I have a strip plank cedar cored epoxy/glass composite cat. It is 4 years old and around the hatches plywood was used to provide some material to screw the hatches in place without damaging the hull itself. Anyway after four years the plywood, which was coated twice with epoxy has advanced rot and needs to be replaced. Wharram boats only last about 15-20 years unless you remove all the screws after the epoxy sets and coat all of the plywood a minimum of 3 times. Even then they don't last as long as foam core or honeycomb cored boats and they are much more difficult to repair later. Word to the wise: reject plywood, wood screws, cork and even durable woods like teak/white oak/purple heart in any exposed settings. Use materials that never rot. The next 3 owners of the vessel will thank you. Composite construction can last nearly forever, which is a first in the history of boat construction. And they can be repaired (much) more easily than steel. Take advantage of that blessing :--)
You have changed your 'name' to sailcargo, and thinking about getting into the coffee business. What market are you aiming for, good or the best? Love to talk to you about it, it's an excellent idea. We started reaping Blue Mountain coffee already, there are many small farmers who welcome you as they get screwed by the big buyers. Lots to talk about.
been watching your build, its beautiful. Only comment is that the engine sled seems to leave the prop's angle of attack when lowered does'nt look right, should be more upright.
The test your using a a pale imitation of the proper test. Plywood used to be classified (in the UK) anyway as WBP, meaning weather and boil proof. The actual test is extreme, but provided the board has been made with properly mixed and applied resorcinol adhesive and the that there are no thick core veneer the it should pass. The test - 72, yes 72 hours immersed in constantly boiling water.
I watched your videos and think you need to post more often. I like what you do but the obvious question is why? How did you come up with your design? Do you plan to finish her and live aboard the Cat? Your most recent video is 6 months ago and i have yet to see the living quarters of the cat if there are any. Lastly you got skills bro and really want to see you finish and on the water.
The design is called a wharram, designed by james wharram to be built at home by amateurs, he has sold over 10,000 sets of wharram catermaran designs so far.. yeah sad to see hes not responded to anyone, i figured he had gone to jail or passed away too honestly..
@@heidietait3182 hi Heidie hope u r ok, i was told in this comment section(has been removed now) that he overdosed after his dog passed away but i cant find anything anywhere to confirm or prove it, if u find out please let me know, and god bless u

Hey, when is your next video coming ... our lockdown has just been extended ...
Greetings from Germony
most of that pretty, wood-grained, varnished trim is usually called "Bright Work" when it's on a boat.
How's progress?

Looks great. I would put a window in the side of each engine base just so you can see what's going on without having to lift the hatch.

Won’t you need some sort of positive locking mechanism to keep it in the down position or it will get pushed up by every swell?
Thats what i thought as well, but so far it doesn’t look like there is.
doesn't the thrust from the engine push it forward?
Nice vid again, bro ;)
and happy birthday!!!
danke digga, dir auch!

Good job. How much fuel is on board?
Not sure yet. Fuel will be stored in 5 gallon jugs. So i can add more easily when necessary.
Moving right along. Any reason you went with 2 2hp, rather than the usual twin 9.9 most of these seem to have? Cheers!
Figured a lil extra power will be good to have for tight situations i will get into.
👍👍🙂
