Lovely video! I have read on Jenny Dean's book, Wild Colour, that you can use pomegranate skin dye as a basis to then dye the same fabric with turmeric. Turmeric is a very beautiful yellow dye, but it is usually not very colourfast. Pre-dyeing with pomegranate helps the end result being more colourfast.
The video is lovely! Definitely subscribed :) Do you use mordant? My first time dyeing I had one pot of black tea and the other artichoke. The tea worked, artichoke didn't stick at all. I also had some pomegranates so I wanted to see how to use them and dye them. I see you didn't use a mordant? Is that correct? I literally just started experimenting with natural dyes two days ago! Any tips on what you have found works are greatly appreciated! I've read so much on salt, vinegar, alum, iron, etc. Kind of overwhelming. :)
Hello! 🤍🌷 So exciting that you are starting to experiment with natural dyes. I am still learning myself. I didnt use a mordant for my pomegranate skins. I sometimes don’t use one when working with dyes that are rich in tannin. The material can stay dyed for years in my experience without mordant but does eventually get lighter over time. Mordant can definitely help a lot - alum acetate is good and will brighten the colour as well! Good luck! X
The video is so lovely made. The music and colours are so pleasant. Well done :) I was wondering, did the socks shrink being in the bold water? That is a bit my concern. Could you advice on this? Thank you :) Have a beautiful weekend dear. Groetjes from Amsterdam :)
This is a really beautiful and graceful video. The world needs people like you.
Thank you Gael 💕

Thank you 🤍 my socks did not shrink but if you are worried you could ‘pre-shrink’ your socks before you dye them by washing them in hot water x
Thank you so much
Love it! The seeds have dye properties also? Or just with the skins? Thank you!
The skins are the best for long lasting dye :)
Can you please share how do you clean stains on table cloth? I struggle with that.
Yes! Total struggle! Haha that’s why I have a seperate table cloth that I use when dyeing :)
Love! I also was interested in your stovetop. What’s the name?
It’s a portable one I got from Ikea. The name is TILLREDA x
@@softenstudio thank you!
I love you hot plate. What kind is it?
It’s one from ikea. The portable induction cook top :)
did you mordant first?
For these socks, I didn’t mordant. But you definitely can. Would work well :)
