- Visiting Moel Prysgau, Claerddu, Cwm Lleust Bach, Nant Rhys & Nant Syddion in a single ride.
Living in the Cambrian Mountains, and with a love of adventures and bikepacking, I have stayed in all of the public bothies in Mid Wales, but I always had the idea of creating a route to visit them all.
Along the way a look at each, to check the condition, and a little guide for those who may wish you use them responsibly in the future.
What is a bothy?
A simple, usually abandoned, shelter in a remote location where the owners have given certain permission for its use.
All except Claerddu in the video are managed by the Mountain Bothies Association, who have the following code:
Respect the Bothy
Respect Other Users
Respect the Surroundings
Respect Agreement with the Estate
Respect the Restriction On Numbers

Great vid, I really need to get a ride in the Cambrians again, has been several years since I was last there and they remain the most spectacular part of the UK i've ever ridden in.
Thank you. It can be quite amazing - sometimes bleak and gloomy, or beautiful, but always so quiet.
Smashing video Matt - thanks for taking the time to do it 👍
Thank you.
That was a great video thank you
Great video, what is the route like in from the south to Cwm Lleust Bach, is it a bit less boggy?
If you come from the south it is OK. From the North is it wet, although with some care you can probably keep your feet dry.
Nice one Matt, its good to see people respecting all those nice bothy places. Wales does look a wonderful place 👌
Excellent vid buddy 👍. Keep up the great work 😊
Thank you
Great stuff 👌
Is there a GPX of the route anywhere? Cheers.
I'll add the Strava link in the description.
@@MattPage - cheers!
I hardly save YT videos but this ones a keeper. Thanks for the Strava link as well.
I was half expecting to see a random French bloke appearing out of nowhere to ruin your solitude.
Ha! That is half the fun of the bothy, although midweek you are usually safer. I hope it is of some use in the future if you decide to come on a trip.
