Thanks for the useful info. I always thought inks needed to be stored upside down so they didn’t dry out. My storage doesn’t really support that now, so a relief to know that I’m not wrecking them 😊

I've had a pad leak when on its side but not until they were stored in a hot very humid climate for a long time. Tim holtz said that you can store them anyway except in a very humid climate. I'm I'm south Louisiana so very warm and humid. Therefore I keep mine flat but until my upstairs a/c went out it wasn't a problem.
Interesting, to me, that because the ink is a suspended medium, it does not matter how the ink pads are stored. However, I want to add that I have had some brands of ink pads, when stored on their sides, leak ink out of the pad, and out of the case, and make a complete mess. Perhaps the pads were overfilled or something. But, really, isn't surface tension a marvelous thing?! I do like using the Stampendous Sufftainers, the medium depth ones,, for my ink cubes and my Memento Dew Drops...keeps them flat, organized, easily visible and the containers are perfectly stackable and see-through and quite affordable! so back in the late 1990's early 2000's a lot of ink pads used to leak if they were on their sides. Wonder if the ink formula has changed. I am an upside down and let gravity keep the ink toward the top.

Most of my inks are Scrapbook.com hybrid inks because they simply make sense to me. I can use them with alcohol markers or with watercolor markers. I can emboss with them. So, decision made. And I love the lid system which creates its own holder. My other favorite ink is Distress and Distress Oxides. Love them!!

Good to know you can store them on end, don’t think I will try with the few Stampin Up ones I have, they leak anyway 😀. Just à question out of interest. How many of your lovely inks do you actually use? I have found I am starting to accumulate quite a lot, because they are so pretty or thus year’s favourite colour but then I just end up using the same few. I find it hard enough to choose which stamp to use
Thank you! I really like storing my pads sideways like your black pads but have found that some have bled and have made huge messes in my containers. Some must be just more juicy than others!
is it just the dye based inks or a brand in particular?
One was a stampin up dye ink pad and I believe the other was either a Hero Arts or Simon Says Stamp pad. And it was only one out of a group of them. They were new so maybe just too juicy? But it made such a mess that I worry about it happening again.
All my black ones have been like this for over a year and no mess; I did check with manufacturers and none said they had to be stored a particular way; in fact almost all said any way you want and it was the chemist who explained the science behind why

How do you store the blenders for the stamp pads? I have 30 mini distress ink cubes and want to keep blender pads matched to the pad. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have very limited space.

This is a great video! I’ve always wondered if I’ve been storing my ink pads correctly or not. I just keep them in my storage box with a handle on top. I have noticed that my distress cubes have dried out a bit. Is it because they are smaller that that happens? I guess I need to start investing in the reminders! One think about ink pad storage I heard that was different is you should always store distress inks right side up only. Is that true?

I needed this video so bad. Thank you. Question: when using oxides for ink blending, do I use foam or felt on the wooden tool. Help please.
Use the foam for blending. The felt is for alcohol inks. The makeup brushes you can get on Amazon are great for light blending and have a great price point! HappyCrafting! 💕🙋♀️

Thank you thank you thank you! This is a question I had, that I didn't know I had and now I know. ...and I love the way you store your ink cubes. I NEED this system. Oh, and while I think of it. Do you know if Tonic have any plans to release reinkers for their Nuvo Hybrid Inks? My Poppy Red is almost dry and Acorn Brown isn't far behind. I'd rather reink than repurchase, but I haven't found anywhere that sells reinkers for them. Thanks as always Alex, you're a godsend! Oh, and I like Susan Sieracki's suggestion of changing the name to Quick Tips, I think that, or something that doesn't tie you to an actual time would be terrif. 😍🌸

i like the most of your clips, but not this clip, because the informations are physically wrong. Many people see this clips and learn wrong information. :(
You sad in the clip "th-cam.com/video/1PZjRDjaJN8/w-d-xo.html" that the pigments sink down but in this clip for ink pad you sad this pads can store them how you want.
The pigments and the liquid in the ink pad sink down because the gravity / attraction. If you store the pads on head then are the pigments and liquid at the top. The ink pads from Manufacturer Stampin' Up! have a technic in the ink pads that rotate the pad with the face down and store the pads automatically on head.
Please make a correction for this clip.
