@nikko3d Definitely Bowsers castle with Exor (the sword). It would look the best displayed with all the other figures. Plus, it's the most recognized for Mario RPG, between the 3 options.
I really hope they tie up characters to fit the context of current nintendo. Like Geno being related to Rosalina, Jinx looking really close to a pikmin, Booster & Wario? Croco and Nabbit? That last one is too wild.
This is a remake not a reboot. Geno has no ties to a character who didn't exist when this game was made. Besides, he and others character in this game not made by Nintendo belong to square Enix. Stop repeating crap you here on the net.

I never realized that Mallow did indeed get out-classed in the last third of the game! BUT I always made it a point to include Mallow in my party for the Nimbus Land parts. It’s only right that Mallow be involved in the triumph over Dodo and Valentina. Speaking of which- Kim Cattrall has the perfect voice for Valentina, elegant, bossy, and domineering!
That's why I like to grind a lot to make mallow as strong as possible and keep him in lol. Buy peach is definitely the one to keep everyone alive. Kim Cattrall is so perfect for Valentina!
100% agree Yoshi is the most likely new party member, he was kinda already summonable. But my biggest wish is Luigi, even as a totally secret optional character. Side note: First time I learned about culex, went back to my old super nintendo save file (with level 30 characters) and beat him. This was many years after playing the game for the first time. But nowadays, If I replay the game, I can beat him easily without grinding, at around level 22 with the proper setup.
Just for the sake of adding to tips, there is a second time you can acquire that hidden chest. The opportunity presents itself after you bring Toadstool from Marrymore and see Toad pacing back and forth. This is easily missed if you don't skip the dialog from the princess. Also, I would enjoy seeing you do the 101 jumps (the first jump doesn't count in the challenge) and defewting Culex.
HOT TAKE: The original was a perfect masterpiece and doesn’t need a remaster. At the time of the original game’s release the style of using 2D Pixel art to create the look of 3D graphics was ground breaking and part of what made that game stand out and become so memorable and iconic. This game pulled that off to a very impressive degree even before Donkey Kong Country. The game has withstood the test of time in terms of game play and graphics. To this day there are very few games that pulled off the 2.5D ("two-and-a-half-dimensional"), ¾ perspective, pseudo-3D look.. so remastering it with modern graphics that make it look very similar to other Mario games out right now in my opinion just undermines what made the game so charming and unique to begin with and I think the 93” graphics still look better than the remastered graphics.
This is definitely a hot take. Lol. 😁 I think this remake is a good thing for a number of reasons. Finally giving what the biggest SMRPG fans have been asking for is one of them. I think the style looks respectfully similar to the original (short stubby Mario, etc). I don't think this remake will undermine the original, I think it will only give a lot more exposure to SMRPG to the new generation of players. We all love the original forever, but having a remake just adds to it. I don't think it takes anything away. The meal was absolute perfection, but I'd also love some dessert. 🙂
@@Daxle You missed the point. You are right, the remaster does retain a look similar to the original albeit 3D instead of 2D creating the illusion of 3D. But the problem is that at the time the original was released there was no other game that looked like Mario RPG which dramatically set it apart and added to its charm and uniqueness.. and remaster literally looks very similar to other games. Mario in the remaster will look nearly identical to how Mario looks in the newly announced Super Mario Wonder.. short and stubby.. also mega fans of the original will not be pleased with some changes they are making.. I can basically guarantee you that they will find a way to force motion controls into mini games… which will be cringe and unnecessary.. Some dialogue will be changed, in the footage released the boss Valentine’s boobs did not jiggle when she gets hit the way they did in the original, so they are watering down small details that the original had.. plus in the released game footage you see that Mario will no longer do his iconic peace sign pose when he wins ✌️.. and I’m pretty sure they will also make changes to the kiss scenes that can occur in Smithy’s tower… so it will not be a true 1:1 remake… there will be changes made to force the game to conform to modern norms that a-lot of TH-camrs have already noticed and I’m sure there will be many more changes discovered after it’s released.. that’s what grinds my gears. There is no need to try to change was already a perfect masterpiece relative to when it was released and it’s already been confirmed that the remaster will included multiple changes, some of which are def not for the better.

Exor's mouth being named neosquid sounds like a mishap with the reference coding. It's probably a placeholder name or something. Devs like to joke around with the testing aspects of the game before it goes into final production, so they'll get goofy when it comes to using placeholders just to test out functionality of the programming. That's seems like most likely the case, unless there are other examples of COMPLETE misnumers with the naming of enemies either that or just a faulty translation. As far as additions I would like to see tacked onto the game: Personally: 1) Difficulty setting. While for casual play it's great, would love to have more difficult options. Wouldn't fit the whole genre, but maybe a nuzlocke version (XD) 2) Would love to see post game content. (even though it doesn't fit with the storyline for those not in the know) 3) Ability to refight past bosses (that are on the same level if not more difficult) Smithy's factory is great and all, but doesn't feel like you are actually facing a boss. 4) Hidden Characters, for a more expanded party and playstyle experience. Luigi was planned but didn't get implemented. There's a few characters in the storyline that I think would make great main characters. My personally hope, Johnny Jones... or Toad with his bazooka. XD 5) More special attacks/abilities for each character. Again expanded playstyle. Maybe even add a skill tree functionality to it. (more than just the base stat buff choice you get with each level) Very happy to have the remake, but expanding upon the experience would be great to. And yes, the meter looks to be connected to team attack functionality. As a dev, they missed out on this when making the original. The customization of the team should have been an obvious choice for this type of mechanic, especially with the game trying to reward skill through timed attacks.
I am so freaking excited for this remake! Super Mario rpg is one of my favorite games of all time and I've played it about 10 times already so to prepare for it every month on the 17th I'll be replaying it it's a pretty short game so I can easily beat it in a day or two and for some of the things I'd like to see: 1-.post-game: I'm not a big fan of the idea of putting more stars in the game I'd rather have a post-game with more story or bosses perhaps even some sort of super boss final boss like a true ending 2-.more difficulty options: I love the game to death but it's really easy in my most recent playthrough I only died once at the culex fight so either they put more difficulty options or they make the game harder I certainly hope so since now there seems to be splash damage that would make battles even easier 3-. more inventory space in general for items and weapons/armor or at least make weapons and armor separate inventories 4-.a way to get back to the map without having to go to one of the exits 5-. more weapon types or perhaps give mario and peach new ultimate weapons and give ultimate weapons to the rest of the party 6-.more super bosses: maybe some final fantasy characters or mario characters 7-. this is more of a dream since mario is so important for the cutscenes I would like it if we could change the party leader 8-. if they don't have a post-game maybe put some extra difficult fights for a new game plus that and pretty much everything in the video I would like to see

I would love that but my only issue with it would be where could they put them in the story besides I can see it for mallow geno and Bowser since they all seem to be doing something before they meet Mario (mallow going to the mushroom kingdom to buy the cricket pie, geno going to forest maze on his own and Bowser trying to get his castle back) but peach could be an issue since she fell on booster's tower right after exor fell into the castle so she wasn't able to do anything but wait

@@Daxle Or rather, I'm assuming that Magikoopa will be identified by his proper name, Kamek, just as Toadstool is Peach. Kamek's interactions with Bowser were always loads of fun. As far as "look the other way" goes ... the rewards you start getting for that -- moldy mush and so on -- that you have to keep throwing away really makes me hope that items stack in the menu as you suggested, @Daxle. Not that moldy mush is worth much, but still. You start getting cool stuff like red essence as the game progresses. It would be great if the star egg was classified as an equippable weapon rather than taking a slot in the items menu, though at the same time I understand why it wouldn't be. It's an item that can be used by everyone. Keep on making these videos, man! Looking forward to seeing where this adventure takes you. Consider yourself a member of my party! (Or so I'm pretending.) To me, Mallow always sounded like Toad from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show in my head, due to his personality. Geno was always a deep-voiced, serious anime character. Also, don't feel bad about getting stumped by the sunken ship riddle, I was stumped too and had to call Nintendo's automated tip line to get the answer back then. Lol I never had a problem beating Culex but I always heard it was impossible to get the 100 jumps because of a glitch.

Item stacking will only be valid if they keep the same size 'max' number of items... OR they tweak the difficulty. The limiting factor of flower tabs / healing items made the few reusable items MUCH more valuable.
You have a point. Being able to have as many items we want would devalue them. I'd rather have them tweak the difficulty and give us stacking than keep the 29 slot inventory.

I have a great idea for a sequel. You kinda base it on Super Mario Brothers 3. Where the Koopalings still magic wands from different kings. But they aren't doing it for Bowser. They are actually working for...... WARIO and WALUIGI. They need the wands to unlock the ULTIMATE treasure. What is it? IDK. Nobody knows. This would allow for a longer story and multiple place to go and return to. Now for the party (which you can swap in and out of in battle like FFX) Mario (duh), Luigi (add a hunted house or 2), Peach, DASIY (sense she was just revealed in WONDER), Bowsar, and older Mallow, Geno returns to help, and for kicks a secret character you can choose to add.... Kirby who act like Quaina from FF9 (eat certain monsters get new spells). Food for though but I thought it would be fun.
my man did not just go and do a whole battle with his past self in a video. insane lmao love the creativity homie. writing this comment as i go on in the video. for yoshi's island i honestly wouldnt mind the yoshi minigame to have motion controls. i think it would be kinda cool. its been a bit since i've last played the original but it seems a tad bit wonky to use. so i'm looking forward to it if there are major changes like that. i'm so glad that the depth perception was a problem for a lot of people. it made a lot of the mini games very difficult for me as a kid because i had trouble figuring out where to move for the booster minigame and also the river minigame. the new much closer camera angle seems to fix that problem. please for the love of god i hope they buff mallow. i never really used him after the midway point because of better party members. those figures are extremely dope. thanks for letting us all know where you got them from! gonna try and 3d print them myself. much love to you and damn i cant wait for the remake to drop. on the topic though. do you think that they will repurpose unused cut content? i personally hope they do. specifically for the star road problem we all have.

I've never felt that Mallow was underpowered. I've kept him around to read all the psychopath messages and haven't felt handicapped. He is awesome in the sea and sunken ship with his lightning attacks. He also handles the volcano well with snowy for the fire enemies and lightning for the dry bones. He's also a lifesaver against the cake boss, because Bowser has low magic defense and can't handle the attacks. Star Rain is Mallow's version of super jump and can do a lot of damage if you're good with the timing. I usually bench Mallow after the fifth star because I want the fastest team especially when I'm spamming the Star Egg, or I don't want Mallow using FP, usually because Mario is using it to Super Jump.
He's not underpowered, but he's a generalist. He's weaker than Peach at healing, weaker than Geno at magic damage, weaker than Mario at damage, less physical tanky than Bowser. But, for one slot, this character can switch roles on the fly.
Bruh, I also keep Mallow in my party. He’s my favourite character too, lol. He was great against the final boss, actually. It literally wants you to use him. If you use Psychopath on Smithy in his tank form, he thinks, ‘Don’t shock me! DON’T!’ All I can think of that I’d probably want to change, is for you to probably be able to go higher than level 30. Also, hell yeah. I’m in this video, but you mispronounced my outdated username slightly, lol. Outdated because it’s something from Paper Mario: The Origami King, and I got bored of that game, lol.

I have to disagree about getting rid of the troll Frog Coin in Peach's Castle/giving you another chance to get it. I think it's part of Mario RPG's charm by playing a trick on the player like that and, besides, it's not keeping anything essential for beating the game from you. Not only that, but a new generation of gamers needs to be driven mad jumping around that room with the Signal Ring. I also expect some things to get retranslated and we won't get a 1:1 script of the original but I hope they do carry over some memorable lines and keep the same spirit. Things won't be the same if Bowser doesn't say "Fungah! Foiled again!" when you beat him in battle. I also kind of want Exor's mouth to stay labeled "Neosquid" lol
@@wariolandgoldpiramid "Bad design/it needs fixing" implies it was a mistake on their part when it's pretty obvious it's intended as a joke. The game wasn't shy about messing with players. You don't even get anything for finding all the hidden chests, it's completely unessential.
It's very Nintendo to playfully mess with the players. Especially classic Nintendo. But I think for the 100% players, it's too far. I do think it was intended as a joke but also think there should be even a secret way to have another shot at getting that chest. For the 100% players, completing the whole game is more important than a reward for doing so. And yes, I hate and love neosquid lol! I just wanna know why Nintendo. 🤣 Yeah we also need bowser haiku.

Culex is without a doubt the hardest in the game, but if you've gained any experience with playing other turn based RPGs since you were a kid, I'm sure you'll be fine! As for the super jumps, best of luck on that. I'd love to see you achieve both if that's something you're interested in doing. Just subscribed in the hopes of seeing more about this journey and speculations.
My hype for the remake has driven me to try out SMRPG Armageddon (hard mode because I hate myself) and the few "modernization" tweaks made definitely feel like logical choices for the remake. The insanely low caps will definitely be boosted. The screenshot of the splash damage inflicted on the Shy Away's and Ribitte at Land's End has the primary damage inflicted as 300. Given the 59 FP I'd assume this to be pre-Lazy Shell. While it is common to get attacks to go into the 300's, that tends to be late late game or "post game". Since the Chain Gauge increases stats I would assume (not too dissimilar from Armageddon) enemy stats are rebalanced to slightly rely on competency to hit timed attacks. The same Land's End battle screenshot exemplifies this. This Mario is attacking and hitting a 4 Chain combo resulting in 300 primary damage plus the respective 77 and 58. That means at minimum 3 other attacks were landed with successfully timed attacks yet every enemy still stands. I know Mallow is weak, but Bowser is not. Ribbites have an OG HP level of 250 and Beezos/Shy Aways have 140. Unless these combo chains quickly boost your stats, I would assume the levels curves have been push beyond what the OG offered. Maybe it was just my previous experience with Final Fantasy before SMRPG, but I always felt the numbers were low in SMRPG. It's a simple tweak, but I honestly think it'll add so much more tactical framework to the existing formula.
Id like to point out that items can hit all enemies without costing FP....and them adding in a journal would be hand as hell. I also agree inventory space is key and coins
One thing I am hoping for is that they add more dialogue for areas in the game where there isn't any. Some examples are when you go and speak to Frogfucius and he tells you to go to star hill, all he says is one line and seemed really pointless. Another area that could use dialogue is Belome temple, that area just kind of happens in the game and no characters outside of it mentions it at all. Belome doesn't even bring up the fact that you've fought him before. Just feels like that area especially could use some dialogue to help add to the worldbuilding. Also if Belome has a vault room full of money and his own temple, why was he starving at the other side of the map in the sewers.
I don't remember what the players guid says about Belome and those areas but it seems like one of those old Nintendo things where they'll leave out information about the game so that you buy the players guid/Nintendo power to learn more. I would like more world building and dialog.

Imagine if you beat the game, you unlock a mode that's the same game but with Luigi instead of Mario. That's better than Luigi in the party because Mario and Luigi would have very similar movesets!!

@Daxle: From the original game I hated that the item don't stack when you buy the same item, so it occupied more space for buying the same item, also while on the WiiU playing Super mario RPG the seed and fertilizer occupied the item slot, and they are both required for the Lazy shell, and Lazy shirt, and since on the WiiU I forgot that the seed was important, and deleted it and also save state and that moment, and then their was no way to get them back once you deleted them so it permanatly lock you out of the lazy shell and lazy shirt, so I had to start over from the very begining, and it is a very long game, and having to start over from the begining just because of that, it become a turn off on playing the game, so hopefully they fix this by putting the seed and fertalizer in the special item slot so they would be no risk to deleted them in the remake, if they still have to put the seed and fertalizer in the normal item slot, to make sure it does not take to mush space, make the same item stack so that way you will still have enought space with the seed and fertalizer in the way, also make it so even if the seed and fertilizer need to take normal item spot, make it so they can't be deleted
Aw man that's super frustrating. Yeah I'm already looking forward to better game saves. Hopefully it won't be like in the original where you can ONLY save at certain areas. The remake will probably just let you save from the pause menu. I think not having the items stack would be a horrible decision. I'm feeling confident it'll stack and hopefully, have mission items in a separate space.
If I remember right the Star Hill star is after you fight the cake boss. So maybe that was meant to be that stars boss. But it is still odd because shouldn't there be a Smithy gang member during that segment? So maybe create a new weapon themed boss for that star
From what I've heard recently, the developers considered that into getting that star. But I think it's not very clear to the player because once you're in Star Hill, you're not thinking about the stuff you just went through.
My big question, since they're updating the battle system, is whether they'll also add pre-emptive hits outside of battle like the later Mario RPGs, where you can hit the enemy, or they can hit you, for an extra attack when you enter battle. It seems like it would be a pretty standard quality-of-life update to quickly defeat weaker enemies. Maybe let Mario use a hammer outside of battle to hit enemies too.
I like the idea of pre-emptive attacks. I will always jump on an enemy to enter a battle just because that feels natural. So, having the enemies take a little damage if you jump or hit them before entering battle would be a nice addition.
Do you think there will be a new story mode in the remake after beating the main game like an untold tale about luigi during the events of the game of what was luigi doing since we know he is in the game It would be cool to have a playable luigi in the remake for a new mode since nintendo has done this stuff before in two of the Mario & Luigi remakes
Hopefully, but I doubt it. I think they would announce the mode with the game, but I suppose it could be different this time. Maybe once you beat the game there's a harder version of the game, but with Luigi. Maybe they can change the story a bit and add Luigi as a main character and they're hiding him for another reveal. It's all stuff I doubt, but hope to happen.

@@Daxle How possible do you think new content like side missions and new party members could be? Everyone wants stuff like that to happen, but do you think it actually has a chance? I'd love to have Luigi and toad as playable characters, but I just don't think it will happen. Which is probably my biggest concern with the game. Don't get me wrong, even if it is just a pure remake with no new content that would be great, but almost every other remake has had some form of new content. Superstar saga and bowsers inside story remakes have had minion modes. While not a remake, Mario 3D world had baked in dlc and Mario kart deluxe had new courses and characters. Since nothing new has been announced for Mario rpg, it's getting me to think of there actually could be any brand new content besides slight changes.
@Daxle when you crash the wedding bowser and mario run into her you quickly have to get her gear items stuff? The crown the brooch shoes and ring I think it was? her sprite still has them intact, well you can only see the crown and brooch on her, the crown is on booster you can see it but peach still has it on her sprite, so I was wondering when they fall off if like her model would have the crown off (whew little long hope that makes sense) or like when you go crash the wedding she's in a wedding dress like mario odyssey?

I never realized that Mallow did indeed get out-classed in the last third of the game! BUT I always made it a point to include Mallow in my party for the Nimbus Land parts. It’s only right that Mallow be involved in the triumph over Dodo and Valentina.
Speaking of which- Kim Cattrall has the perfect voice for Valentina, elegant, bossy, and domineering!
That's why I like to grind a lot to make mallow as strong as possible and keep him in lol. Buy peach is definitely the one to keep everyone alive.

100% agree Yoshi is the most likely new party member, he was kinda already summonable. But my biggest wish is Luigi, even as a totally secret optional character. Side note: First time I learned about culex, went back to my old super nintendo save file (with level 30 characters) and beat him. This was many years after playing the game for the first time. But nowadays, If I replay the game, I can beat him easily without grinding, at around level 22 with the proper setup.

Just for the sake of adding to tips, there is a second time you can acquire that hidden chest. The opportunity presents itself after you bring Toadstool from Marrymore and see Toad pacing back and forth. This is easily missed if you don't skip the dialog from the princess.

HOT TAKE: The original was a perfect masterpiece and doesn’t need a remaster. At the time of the original game’s release the style of using 2D Pixel art to create the look of 3D graphics was ground breaking and part of what made that game stand out and become so memorable and iconic. This game pulled that off to a very impressive degree even before Donkey Kong Country. The game has withstood the test of time in terms of game play and graphics. To this day there are very few games that pulled off the 2.5D ("two-and-a-half-dimensional"), ¾ perspective, pseudo-3D look.. so remastering it with modern graphics that make it look very similar to other Mario games out right now in my opinion just undermines what made the game so charming and unique to begin with and I think the 93” graphics still look better than the remastered graphics.
This is definitely a hot take. Lol. 😁 I think this remake is a good thing for a number of reasons. Finally giving what the biggest SMRPG fans have been asking for is one of them. I think the style looks respectfully similar to the original (short stubby Mario, etc). I don't think this remake will undermine the original, I think it will only give a lot more exposure to SMRPG to the new generation of players. We all love the original forever, but having a remake just adds to it. I don't think it takes anything away. The meal was absolute perfection, but I'd also love some dessert. 🙂
@@Daxle You missed the point. You are right, the remaster does retain a look similar to the original albeit 3D instead of 2D creating the illusion of 3D. But the problem is that at the time the original was released there was no other game that looked like Mario RPG which dramatically set it apart and added to its charm and uniqueness.. and remaster literally looks very similar to other games. Mario in the remaster will look nearly identical to how Mario looks in the newly announced Super Mario Wonder.. short and stubby.. also mega fans of the original will not be pleased with some changes they are making.. I can basically guarantee you that they will find a way to force motion controls into mini games… which will be cringe and unnecessary.. Some dialogue will be changed, in the footage released the boss Valentine’s boobs did not jiggle when she gets hit the way they did in the original, so they are watering down small details that the original had.. plus in the released game footage you see that Mario will no longer do his iconic peace sign pose when he wins ✌️.. and I’m pretty sure they will also make changes to the kiss scenes that can occur in Smithy’s tower… so it will not be a true 1:1 remake… there will be changes made to force the game to conform to modern norms that a-lot of TH-camrs have already noticed and I’m sure there will be many more changes discovered after it’s released.. that’s what grinds my gears. There is no need to try to change was already a perfect masterpiece relative to when it was released and it’s already been confirmed that the remaster will included multiple changes, some of which are def not for the better.

Exor's mouth being named neosquid sounds like a mishap with the reference coding. It's probably a placeholder name or something. Devs like to joke around with the testing aspects of the game before it goes into final production, so they'll get goofy when it comes to using placeholders just to test out functionality of the programming. That's seems like most likely the case, unless there are other examples of COMPLETE misnumers with the naming of enemies either that or just a faulty translation.
As far as additions I would like to see tacked onto the game:
Personally:
1) Difficulty setting. While for casual play it's great, would love to have more difficult options. Wouldn't fit the whole genre, but maybe a nuzlocke version (XD)
2) Would love to see post game content. (even though it doesn't fit with the storyline for those not in the know)
3) Ability to refight past bosses (that are on the same level if not more difficult) Smithy's factory is great and all, but doesn't feel like you are actually facing a boss.
4) Hidden Characters, for a more expanded party and playstyle experience. Luigi was planned but didn't get implemented. There's a few characters in the storyline that I think would make great main characters. My personally hope, Johnny Jones... or Toad with his bazooka. XD
5) More special attacks/abilities for each character. Again expanded playstyle. Maybe even add a skill tree functionality to it. (more than just the base stat buff choice you get with each level)
Very happy to have the remake, but expanding upon the experience would be great to. And yes, the meter looks to be connected to team attack functionality. As a dev, they missed out on this when making the original. The customization of the team should have been an obvious choice for this type of mechanic, especially with the game trying to reward skill through timed attacks.
I am so freaking excited for this remake! Super Mario rpg is one of my favorite games of all time and I've played it about 10 times already so to prepare for it every month on the 17th I'll be replaying it it's a pretty short game so I can easily beat it in a day or two
and for some of the things I'd like to see:
1-.post-game: I'm not a big fan of the idea of putting more stars in the game I'd rather have a post-game with more story or bosses perhaps even some sort of super boss final boss like a true ending
2-.more difficulty options: I love the game to death but it's really easy in my most recent playthrough I only died once at the culex fight so either they put more difficulty options or they make the game harder I certainly hope so since now there seems to be splash damage that would make battles even easier
3-. more inventory space in general for items and weapons/armor or at least make weapons and armor separate inventories
4-.a way to get back to the map without having to go to one of the exits
5-. more weapon types or perhaps give mario and peach new ultimate weapons and give ultimate weapons to the rest of the party
6-.more super bosses: maybe some final fantasy characters or mario characters
7-. this is more of a dream since mario is so important for the cutscenes I would like it if we could change the party leader
8-. if they don't have a post-game maybe put some extra difficult fights for a new game plus
that and pretty much everything in the video I would like to see

I would love that but my only issue with it would be where could they put them in the story besides I can see it for mallow geno and Bowser since they all seem to be doing something before they meet Mario (mallow going to the mushroom kingdom to buy the cricket pie, geno going to forest maze on his own and Bowser trying to get his castle back) but peach could be an issue since she fell on booster's tower right after exor fell into the castle so she wasn't able to do anything but wait

As far as "look the other way" goes ... the rewards you start getting for that -- moldy mush and so on -- that you have to keep throwing away really makes me hope that items stack in the menu as you suggested, @Daxle. Not that moldy mush is worth much, but still. You start getting cool stuff like red essence as the game progresses. It would be great if the star egg was classified as an equippable weapon rather than taking a slot in the items menu, though at the same time I understand why it wouldn't be. It's an item that can be used by everyone. Keep on making these videos, man! Looking forward to seeing where this adventure takes you. Consider yourself a member of my party! (Or so I'm pretending.) Item stacking will only be valid if they keep the same size 'max' number of items... OR they tweak the difficulty. The limiting factor of flower tabs / healing items made the few reusable items MUCH more valuable.
You have a point. Being able to have as many items we want would devalue them. I'd rather have them tweak the difficulty and give us stacking than keep the 29 slot inventory.

I have a great idea for a sequel. You kinda base it on Super Mario Brothers 3. Where the Koopalings still magic wands from different kings. But they aren't doing it for Bowser. They are actually working for...... WARIO and WALUIGI. They need the wands to unlock the ULTIMATE treasure. What is it? IDK. Nobody knows. This would allow for a longer story and multiple place to go and return to. Now for the party (which you can swap in and out of in battle like FFX) Mario (duh), Luigi (add a hunted house or 2), Peach, DASIY (sense she was just revealed in WONDER), Bowsar, and older Mallow, Geno returns to help, and for kicks a secret character you can choose to add.... Kirby who act like Quaina from FF9 (eat certain monsters get new spells). Food for though but I thought it would be fun.
🤯 that's a sequel 👍 but let older Mallow look like Kratos with all buff with scars and a sick black beard lol.

for yoshi's island i honestly wouldnt mind the yoshi minigame to have motion controls. i think it would be kinda cool. its been a bit since i've last played the original but it seems a tad bit wonky to use. so i'm looking forward to it if there are major changes like that.
i'm so glad that the depth perception was a problem for a lot of people. it made a lot of the mini games very difficult for me as a kid because i had trouble figuring out where to move for the booster minigame and also the river minigame. the new much closer camera angle seems to fix that problem.
please for the love of god i hope they buff mallow. i never really used him after the midway point because of better party members.

I doubt they will bring any cut content back from the original, but I am hoping for some kind of art book to come out about this remake. Or have that unused content featured in a "museum" selection in the start menu.
I've never felt that Mallow was underpowered. I've kept him around to read all the psychopath messages and haven't felt handicapped. He is awesome in the sea and sunken ship with his lightning attacks. He also handles the volcano well with snowy for the fire enemies and lightning for the dry bones. He's also a lifesaver against the cake boss, because Bowser has low magic defense and can't handle the attacks. Star Rain is Mallow's version of super jump and can do a lot of damage if you're good with the timing.
I usually bench Mallow after the fifth star because I want the fastest team especially when I'm spamming the Star Egg, or I don't want Mallow using FP, usually because Mario is using it to Super Jump.
He's not underpowered, but he's a generalist. He's weaker than Peach at healing, weaker than Geno at magic damage, weaker than Mario at damage, less physical tanky than Bowser. But, for one slot, this character can switch roles on the fly.
Bruh, I also keep Mallow in my party. He’s my favourite character too, lol. He was great against the final boss, actually. It literally wants you to use him. If you use Psychopath on Smithy in his tank form, he thinks, ‘Don’t shock me! DON’T!’
All I can think of that I’d probably want to change, is for you to probably be able to go higher than level 30.

I have to disagree about getting rid of the troll Frog Coin in Peach's Castle/giving you another chance to get it. I think it's part of Mario RPG's charm by playing a trick on the player like that and, besides, it's not keeping anything essential for beating the game from you. Not only that, but a new generation of gamers needs to be driven mad jumping around that room with the Signal Ring.
I also expect some things to get retranslated and we won't get a 1:1 script of the original but I hope they do carry over some memorable lines and keep the same spirit. Things won't be the same if Bowser doesn't say "Fungah! Foiled again!" when you beat him in battle. I also kind of want Exor's mouth to stay labeled "Neosquid" lol

Culex is without a doubt the hardest in the game, but if you've gained any experience with playing other turn based RPGs since you were a kid, I'm sure you'll be fine! As for the super jumps, best of luck on that. I'd love to see you achieve both if that's something you're interested in doing. My hype for the remake has driven me to try out SMRPG Armageddon (hard mode because I hate myself) and the few "modernization" tweaks made definitely feel like logical choices for the remake. The insanely low caps will definitely be boosted. The screenshot of the splash damage inflicted on the Shy Away's and Ribitte at Land's End has the primary damage inflicted as 300. Given the 59 FP I'd assume this to be pre-Lazy Shell. While it is common to get attacks to go into the 300's, that tends to be late late game or "post game". Since the Chain Gauge increases stats I would assume (not too dissimilar from Armageddon) enemy stats are rebalanced to slightly rely on competency to hit timed attacks. The same Land's End battle screenshot exemplifies this. This Mario is attacking and hitting a 4 Chain combo resulting in 300 primary damage plus the respective 77 and 58. That means at minimum 3 other attacks were landed with successfully timed attacks yet every enemy still stands. I know Mallow is weak, but Bowser is not. Ribbites have an OG HP level of 250 and Beezos/Shy Aways have 140. Unless these combo chains quickly boost your stats, I would assume the levels curves have been push beyond what the OG offered. Maybe it was just my previous experience with Final Fantasy before SMRPG, but I always felt the numbers were low in SMRPG. It's a simple tweak, but I honestly think it'll add so much more tactical framework to the existing formula.

Id like to point out that items can hit all enemies without costing FP....and them adding in a journal would be hand as hell. I also agree inventory space is key and coins

One thing I am hoping for is that they add more dialogue for areas in the game where there isn't any. Some examples are when you go and speak to Frogfucius and he tells you to go to star hill, all he says is one line and seemed really pointless. Another area that could use dialogue is Belome temple, that area just kind of happens in the game and no characters outside of it mentions it at all. Belome doesn't even bring up the fact that you've fought him before. Just feels like that area especially could use some dialogue to help add to the worldbuilding. Also if Belome has a vault room full of money and his own temple, why was he starving at the other side of the map in the sewers.
I don't remember what the players guid says about Belome and those areas but it seems like one of those old Nintendo things where they'll leave out information about the game so that you buy the players guid/Nintendo power to learn more.
I would like more world building and dialog.

Imagine if you beat the game, you unlock a mode that's the same game but with Luigi instead of Mario. That's better than Luigi in the party because Mario and Luigi would have very similar movesets!!

So every now and then I see a channel launch into fame, because they were ready and well-produced and happened to be the biggest fan, when a new game comes out. So with Nintenod announcing the RPG remake this is the next channel to become a Nintendo fandom household name, coming from 3 digit view counts

@Daxle: From the original game I hated that the item don't stack when you buy the same item, so it occupied more space for buying the same item, also while on the WiiU playing Super mario RPG the seed and fertilizer occupied the item slot, and they are both required for the Lazy shell, and Lazy shirt, and since on the WiiU I forgot that the seed was important, and deleted it and also save state and that moment, and then their was no way to get them back once you deleted them so it permanatly lock you out of the lazy shell and lazy shirt, so I had to start over from the very begining, and it is a very long game, and having to start over from the begining just because of that, it become a turn off on playing the game, so hopefully they fix this by putting the seed and fertalizer in the special item slot so they would be no risk to deleted them in the remake, if they still have to put the seed and fertalizer in the normal item slot, to make sure it does not take to mush space, make the same item stack so that way you will still have enought space with the seed and fertalizer in the way, also make it so even if the seed and fertilizer need to take normal item spot, make it so they can't be deleted
Aw man that's super frustrating. Yeah I'm already looking forward to better game saves. Hopefully it won't be like in the original where you can ONLY save at certain areas. The remake will probably just let you save from the pause menu.
I think not having the items stack would be a horrible decision. I'm feeling confident it'll stack and hopefully, have mission items in a separate space.
If I remember right the Star Hill star is after you fight the cake boss. So maybe that was meant to be that stars boss. But it is still odd because shouldn't there be a Smithy gang member during that segment? So maybe create a new weapon themed boss for that star
From what I've heard recently, the developers considered that into getting that star. But I think it's not very clear to the player because once you're in Star Hill, you're not thinking about the stuff you just went through.
My big question, since they're updating the battle system, is whether they'll also add pre-emptive hits outside of battle like the later Mario RPGs, where you can hit the enemy, or they can hit you, for an extra attack when you enter battle.
It seems like it would be a pretty standard quality-of-life update to quickly defeat weaker enemies.
Maybe let Mario use a hammer outside of battle to hit enemies too.
The hammer is usually mario signature weapon so maybe they'll use that to get around obstacles like from Paper Mario
I like the idea of pre-emptive attacks. I will always jump on an enemy to enter a battle just because that feels natural. So, having the enemies take a little damage if you jump or hit them before entering battle would be a nice addition.

It would be cool to have a playable luigi in the remake for a new mode since nintendo has done this stuff before in two of the Mario & Luigi remakes
Hopefully, but I doubt it. I think they would announce the mode with the game, but I suppose it could be different this time. Maybe once you beat the game there's a harder version of the game, but with Luigi. Maybe they can change the story a bit and add Luigi as a main character and they're hiding him for another reveal. It's all stuff I doubt, but hope to happen.

I'd love to have Luigi and toad as playable characters, but I just don't think it will happen. Which is probably my biggest concern with the game. Don't get me wrong, even if it is just a pure remake with no new content that would be great, but almost every other remake has had some form of new content. Superstar saga and bowsers inside story remakes have had minion modes. While not a remake, Mario 3D world had baked in dlc and Mario kart deluxe had new courses and characters. Since nothing new has been announced for Mario rpg, it's getting me to think of there actually could be any brand new content besides slight changes.

@Daxle when you crash the wedding bowser and mario run into her you quickly have to get her gear items stuff? The crown the brooch shoes and ring I think it was? her sprite still has them intact, well you can only see the crown and brooch on her, the crown is on booster you can see it but peach still has it on her sprite, so I was wondering when they fall off if like her model would have the crown off (whew little long hope that makes sense) or like when you go crash the wedding she's in a wedding dress like mario odyssey?
Oh yeah her sprite does still have the crown on at the same time Booster is wearing it lol. Yeah probably the remake will fix that but I'm not sure she'll be in a wedding dress since Booster doesn't even know the point of a wedding hahaha
