I have been running into some problems using the SketchUp Direct Link method. Tell me if you need further clarification. One, if there is a texture (from SketchUp) replaced by Twinmotion and you apply that texture somewhere else on the model (in SketchUp then press the button) many times (other textures too), will it use that same Twinmotion replaced texture in the render? Two, if you have 2 separate textures from SketchUp in Twinmotion and you replace both separate textures with the same Twinmotion texture, can you edit one texture to be on a different setting or alignment than the other? I don't want to edit 1 texture and have all of them move at the same time. I also don't want to apply them to 2 objects, just replacing textures. Hope this makes sense. Thanks, Brannnan.
Hi Justin ! This is really a good update from Twinmotion. I Love it. And you really show it very well in this video. It is really more user-friendly . Thank you.
This is quite helpful thank you very much. I'm using Twinmotion 2021 for the first time and my version of sketchup is also 2021. I would like to know if there is a plug in to connect the two software? Do you have a link to a tutorial on that? I am a student in architecture and your tutorials are a tremendous help.
I can't really say for sure, but I find it unlikely. Generally these programs more seem to be targeting programs like SketchUp, Revit, Rhino, etc that need a rendering solution. Blender already has a built-in render engine so it's probably lower on the priority list. That doesn't mean you can't export your Blender models to a format like fbx or something and import directly to Twinmotion though
Hi Justin, I loved your tips! I have a problem qhen I try to refresh something that I changed on sketchup...always all materials taht i just set in TM reset the configurations, why happens this? What do you think that I need to do? Thank you
@@mae2309 Would love to see a demo of that... also my use-case requires being able to export 360 panos in stereo (for mobile VR viewers like cardboard)

Justin, good Stuff! Is there a video that goes more into setting up the SU model for import into Twinmotion in terms of materials applied in SU prior to importing? Thanks for your help and guidance.
Hi Justin, Great video, thank you! I downloaded the new Twinmotion updates yesterday but I use SketchMake, not Pro.. Can you say if this is applicable to sku make also? Also, can the plugin be downloaded for sku make as well as sku pro? Thanks :)
I don't know if it is or not - I believe I was given the option of installing to SketchUp 2017 when I ran the installer - SketchUp Make vs. Pro should not be an issue in this case - thanks!
This is a little off topic but the archicad direct link since the update has not been working like it has in the past. If I choose no merge then sync whatever changes I make in twinmotion the next time I sync it overrides twinmotion. What has changed? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
Is there a way how to export the scene (position camera) from sketchup to twinmotion? To be able to export lines from sketchup and combine them with the render from twinmotion
Hi, Justin. Thanks for these videos. In my experience, the Direct Link has lots of trouble with scaled groups and small objects. I already tried all settings and nothing works well. Re-sending the SU project after changes often results in lost materials (and lost grass and vegetation, if you used the vegetation brush) and out of place components. I would recommend using the import function instead, which plays nice with scaled groups and small objects, but after making changes and refreshing the import materials change randomly... I ended up with water replacing glass and porcelain, for example. If anyone has found a better way to get data from SU to Twinmotion without all these problems, please let me know. I'm using SketchUp 2019.
Curious - have you tested to see if you get different results with applying materials directly to faces rather than to the outside of groups/components? I haven't tested this, but I wonder if this would help with the lost materials issue
@@TheRenderingEssentials Yes, I normally apply materials to faces. I only apply them to groups when I'm in a rush. But still, materials change randomly on re-import. Like, what used to be a treeline is now a stone wall.
Thanks for the tutorial! When I download the direct link instead of collapse it says merge and when i try to put materials in TM, it doesn't apply it individually, instead it picks colors that are alike and applies materials to all of them. so i was wondering how to apply materials to certain areas without having to go back on sketchup to change their colors

Thank you Justin!. I tried to downloaded the Twinmotion direct link into my SU 2019 Prof and I did not get the toolbox icon like you show in the upper left corner. I right clicked the toolbox bar and it lists Twinmotion with a checkmark, and under the extensions tab is shows twinmotion, with the same options of Help, Settings, and See in TM. I downloaded it twice and still no toolbar. Did the toolbox just pop up automatically for you? What should I do ? Thank you.
So that I'm clear - you've installed the extension in SketchUp, you've enabled it in the extension manager, and you've turned it on in your toolbars and it's not showing up? It's not on a different monitor or something is it?
@@TheRenderingEssentials You are correct. I opened SU again this morning and looked carefully at the second monitor and the icon box is not there either. It may be connected to another problem I have, which sometimes after working on SU, I minimize the program to see other programs or the internet. When I try to maximize SU, it doesn't show up. The SU symbol (red box) at the bottom of the monitor toolbar is there showing an underline and is highlighted, but SU doesn't maximize. I look all over at both monitors and there is no SU toolbox to click. Then about 15 minutes later a small tip of the minimized SU toobox sticks out at the edge of the screen on the second (non used) monitor and I can click on it to maximize. The other half of the time it never shows up and and I have to right click on the SU symbol at the bottom toolbar and "close program" . Very frustrating. Has this happened to you or anybody else?
