    But in cylinder from both top as well as bottom we should get end friction effect which is 150 from top and 150 from bottom which add up to 300mm and covers entire length na???

      Width/2 from both top and bottom. Total width B. he said from top only B.

      @@Dosthkachhi its not Width by 2 . in cylinder after 150 mm it will be pure uniaxial loading . in Cube once u reach 150 mm , its end of your cube , so no furthur pure uniaxial loading .

    But in cylinder we have covered complete length of the cylinder from top and bottom that is confusion poin for us

      IT IS ONLY AT TOP PORTION . 300 mm is height , so that stress will be till 150 mm only

      In Cube , after 150 mm the cube ends , in cylinder my width is 150 mm , so this effect will be till 150 mm after that the platens effect will end , so the cylinder strength is less .
      load is applied from top And saint Venants principle says that its from Top width we should consider .
