Loved my truck camper! Wife and I bought one so we could have a cross Canada honey moon. Made travel easy less wind drag and saved money on the ferry over to Newfoundland not being a long bumper pull. My tip is, I made four castor wheels that fit under the jacks. Then when I backed my truck under I could tweek the camper left or right to make it sit perfectly in the bed of my truck. Made hook up a little easier. Great video Chuck!
I’ve had various RV’s all my long life but the best by far was my truck camper. You can tow a trailer and put anything in it you want to meet the situation - hunting, ATV, etc... Enjoy it.
You know it’s a good morning when you sit for breakfast and CP has a new video out to watch haha. Nice like camper you have there...should do you fine and the view was top notch . Hope all is well !
Where did you have the brackets made for the camper. I have the same truck camper as that one and would like to have a set rather than the chains connecting on the bottom and rear of my truck.
There was a local company here in Labrador city who made them. They deal with steel on a daily basis and fabricate it for mining purposes. Carol lake metal works is the name of the company.
My friend taylor lived for 5 years in a artic fox 990 he loved every minute of it, costed less then a apartment, he worked spring summer and fall and in winter hed go down to yellowstone and other places in and around victoria finding those little pieces of heaven to enjoy winter in, Wish i could do that, though must say Chuck your truck camper might get a tad cold in the snow when it hits,, Suprised you dont have willow with you she would love that 2nd bunk feature,
Haha. Yes I certainly missed willow this trip but I wasn’t sure how she would handle the moose and caribou hinting we did afterwards. She will spend many nights into it going forward though! Good to hear from you bud👍👍
Thanks for sharing. Very good review on set up and use of a pop up camper. I'm considering a pop up and this is exact model, as well as a few others that are similar. Any updated reviews on the SS-1251 and perhaps towing a fishing boat?
Absolutely. Can’t wait to use it next year again. Everything freezing up here in the North so I have it winterized and put away but as soon as spring thaw occurs I will plant it back in the truck again👍
very nice truck camper Chuck you'll have a great time camping with it I'm sure just put the camper stabilizer's down when you have it all setup and that will take the rockin and rollin away when its windy or when your moving around inside
Cool piece of trivia about your camper Chuck is that it originally comes from my town of Terrebonne Qc. Cool camper btw, but i hope you will still do some expeditions with the skidoo this winter. i love watching your adventures. stay safe and be outdoors!
Yes absolutely. My camper is put away now as we are experiencing freeze up. The skidoo and the tent will come out soon. Plus I have some real exciting new gear on the way for winter camping. And I can’t wait to try it out👍. Tks for tuning in
@@ChuckPorterEverythingOutdoors i always will tune in. My kids keep checking your page for new videos. Your expeditions inspire my kids to drop the phones and get outside. Hey chuck , I just purchased a palomino ss1240 pickup camper, after watching this video 5months ago I've been looking hard and finally found one, I'm so pumped, ne and my 3 daughters are boondocking in Michigan as I write this by the campfire!! Thanks for the inspiration!!

Nice truck camper . Just make sure that you bring enough propane for the furnace and cook top in the colder weather . What are you going to do with your tent that fit in the back of the truck .
Definitely keeping the tent as I will continue to use that as well. I am picking up a spare propane tank for the camper as well so I won’t run out without having a backup👍
Great looking camper Chuck,,we had a simliar one and loved it..I also bought one of those Champion Genorators, working good so far..I have an older 4000 Champion and it has worked flawless for 5 years...that camper will make lineups at the ferry enjoyable LOL
Hey, Merry Xmas. Ya must have ran into the Old fella in Red. LOL. The set up look really nice. Have to bring her to the Island next summer, especially down around KOA. All the best
Nice rig. I've been looking around for one myself. As for the champion inverter generators, I have 2. I have 2000 watt older style than what you have, and i also purchased the 3100 watt. Love both of them. They have never let me down. Excellent value for the price. And great on fuel as well. Good choice!!
That's really encouraging to hear Greg. The Champion kept coming up while looking at reviews for the Honda 2200 W generator. Most reviews state they are comparable but cost half the price. I've used mine a lot since and it has been working 100%. I've used it on my wood splitter as well - works great!!👍
You got me thinking that this is the cat's meow. I am heading out for a four day goose hunt in a few days and this rig would save me the cost and inconvenience of lodging not knowing who or what was there before me.
Great point Reginald. I have to travel to NS in couple weeks for a waterfowl him and I’m seriously thinking about taking mine out (even though it’s too cold to hold water now) just not to have to check into a restaurant, hotel etc👍

I completely deleted that useless table. In my Palomino Backpack, there's a separate insert for the bed area where my 6 y/o grandson sleeps and it's too low to sit at anyhow(that's true for most truck campers though). As for the mattress....looks WAY too thick for that headspace to me. I have a Serta memory foam mattress which is only about 4" thick and is very comfortable. I do like the foam matting underneath though. Oh, here's an idea I have for mine regarding the awning. I take the vertical legs and bring them BACK to the camper. I use the rear buckle as a "hard point" for the rear leg and use a piece of closed cell foam to buffer between the front leg and the side of the camper at the seam. Great for calm days as it's basically "free" standing. When it gets windy I simply set it up as you have it. Cool setup! Safe travels from Wisconsin!
Haha. She missed out on this one as I was moose and caribou hunting. Couldn’t risk her scaring them when my time schedule was so tight to try and harvest. She wasn’t happy with me! Lol
Nice rig. When I had mine I got a pair of I believe, they were called RV stabilizer jacks. Just like a safety stand for working on your car but with a screw top for height adjustment. I would put them under the trailer hitch while parked to take away the bounce as I walked in the camper. I think you should be ok because your camper is not too top heavy but beware the tie downs that go in the stake pockets of the truck box. Your custom racks look very strong but the modern truck boxes are not. It's not uncommon for the truck box stake pockets to fail if you have to do any evasive maneuvers with the camper on. I learned that the hard way but my camper was the solid height type, and a lot heavier. You should get many years of enjoyment from that new rig.
Thanks for the valuable info. I watched the anchors very very closely. I parked in numerous places including bumpy forest access roads.
