@@DaviFigueiraChavez i dont think any other player can compare to messi though, yes i am a kid, i am 15, but i can say what my father said, he said that messi was the best player of all time since he was 19 year old, he watched maradona, hagi, van basten, gullit, romario, r9, zidane, kaka and ronaldinho, but he said no one compares to messi and i totally agree with him, i dont want to say r9 is not great, he was a brilliant dribbler, but messi when he gets the ball it almost seems like the ball is stuck at his feet, just watch his goal vs getafe in 2007, he dribbled past 7 or 8 players at full speed without kicking the ball 3 meters in front of him like most players do, also messi is one of the best goalscorers, he scored 91 goals in 2012, and when you watch his goals you can see most of them are solo actions, good combinations with his teammates, free kicks.. Also messi and ronaldo are one of the most consistent players ever, they played and are still playing at a top level for 15 years. And i still dont understand what is this favoritism for the oldest players, just because they played in the past doesnt mean they are better than the players nowadays. Show me a player who made the defenders of his time look this silly. Messi has his days. Cristiano is still trying. But Ronaldo, he could take a defense apart on his own each and every day before his injury. He was the football equivalent of a freight train. He would just run through everyone.

During those years you could see him playing in so many places on the pitch. He would show up stealing a ball in defense and making a fast run to give an assist to a goal. He was like a superplayer in a superman kind of way.

I have seen Ronaldo play during his time at AC Milan & Corinthians. He was horrible, overweight, slow & had no dribbling abilities. He was a one dimensional goal scorer who’s only trick was waiting in the penalty box to tap in his teammates’ passes. He had no skills, no dribbling & no creativity. In his entire career he was overweight & untalented. I don’t understand why he gets all the hype as one of the greatest, he was really nothing special. Legends like Ronaldinho & Zidane carried him to glory, Ronaldo on his own was nothing. He struggled to make an impact playing for Inter Milan during his so called “peak years.” Serie A at the time was the least competitive & lowest level league in the world, yet he still struggled to be a difference maker for his team. The defenders he faced were so bad: Ayala, Maldini, Desailly, Nesta, Mihajlovic, Ferrara, Thuram, Cannavaro, Koeman, De Boer & Cafu, they all lacked quality in their defensive game yet Ronaldo could barely take advantage of his easy opposition. Ronaldo will forever go down as one of the most overrated players of all time. He didn’t do anything significant for his clubs & country.
I think it's nice to see that in today's football, with all the modern player academies and schools, we don't have a single player who even comes close to the talent and passion of this man. He will remain the best striker forever. Generation to generation. Everyone will know this name and watch the videos and think, "How the hell is that possible"? He has brought football to a level that is still unreachable to this day. I am happy and honored at the same time that he played in my childhood. This man will be a legend forever. I was 6 when I watched the '98 world cup, my first time watching an international level football tournament. And I fell in love with this man's game....He was just phenomenal!! No wonder they called him 'o fenomeno'.
I'm a huge Messi fan and I really respect CR7. They're legends of the game. But this man was just in a wholly different league of his own! It is really heartbreaking what a series of injuries did to his career.
CR7 is a mental beast, a goal scoring machine, incredible strength and shot making with a right leg to die for. But he lacks dribbling skills, artistic touches and can't create chances out of nowhere.
Messi is a game-maker, incredible dribbler, left foot God & artistically skilled!! But his height prevents him from being a good header and he lacks strentgh - both physical and mental (sometimes).
But here's the thing. R9 had the strength of a bull, could do magic with both feet, could score from heads, could score from half chances, could dribble like no other, could create chances himself & assist others, didn't need an extraordinary team to perform his best & most importantly he had supreme mental strength. On one-to-one encounters, he was feared by all goalkeepers and defenders. He was their nightmare!! He was incredibly agile and lethal!
He was simply too good than the rest of the field sometimes. I've always felt that nature creates a balance to sustain life. He was too good may be, hence nature gave him injuries to balance out his talent! It's sad, but also his comebacks have made his legacy even better I suppose.
Players will come and go, but R9 will always be my fave football player of all time. He's the man who made me fall in love with this beautiful sport! ❤

For Messi you are right for the mental, it's not his advantage. But his physic and his strenght aren't problems, they are advantages. Messi is a player who is very tough to knock down even the strongest defender, because of his strenght, wich gives to him a very good balance. So, with his talent with the ball, playing with head isn't an obligation for him. And he prefer give the center to someone who will score with head, or go in front of the box in shoot position, he isn't a real 9 like Ronaldo.

Ronaldo....a superhuman combination of skill & speed. He came back after career ending injuries and later in his career had a thyroid problem. For me he is simply the greatest player to have played the game
I don’t think words can describe how good this man was. Who has seen him is fortunate and those who can only see a few matches and highlights can just assume or compare him to other great players. For me Ronaldo was and still is the GOAT.

I think you are short changing him on his ball control. His first touch and trapping skills were second only to Zidane in my opinion, possibly better given he always put himself in scoring position. you can argue that his ability to control the ball at full speed is the best of all time.

Its a weird mix with this guy, inside the penalty box, his touches were only second to Bergkamp of his generation and would convert them into goals with insane creativity and accuracy but outside of the danger zone, he would half ass both his touches and passes in almost a funny manner.

What a time, i was born in 1999 and never was a soccer fan, but I feel so nostalgic about it and admire so much the late 90s and early 2000s, I literally think that was peak civilization. After watching more of his highlights, i've realised that he shouldn't exist as a player. He puts Fifa Custom Mode players into shame. He has attributes of multiple legends. Messi's dribbling, Cristiano's shooting, Thierry Henry's explosive pace etc. No wonder he's called El Fenomeno.

I’m older than the majority of the persons commenting this video, I saw Maradona, Baggio, Ronaldo, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Cristiano and Messi playing, and trust me, nobody comes close to Marco Van Basten. I realise football was different at that time, but he was an outstanding player like nobody else. Even Maradona, considered by the majority the best player of all times, after losing the key match Napoli-Milan when Van Basten scored 2 goals, he said: “without injuries he would have become the greatest player of all times, even better than me. I have never seen someone with such an elegance”. And trust me, the elegance he had when he touched the ball and his vision of the game is absolutely unique. I think what makes R9 the best ever is his style, movement, intelligence with and without the ball, he dribbled goalkeepers all the time e.t.c. He was more than a complete player.
Messi is maybe as good but the big difference is R9 played with such a special style, his dribbling, it was something extra special. The way he was moving with the ball, the way he was executing his dribbles, how natural and calm he was when he scored goals specially in big and important matches and i can continue all day, not to mention his clinical finish.
On the other hand you can feel when Messi is not capable of scoring an important goal, you can feel when he's frustrated, you can feel when he ain't going to score, you can feel when its not his day.
You can't feel that with R9, you always expect he will explode and create something out of nothing even if you put him to play at this condition today. Thats the difference.
Messi, when you really think about it has nothing more than his spectacular ball control, speed with the ball and good movement and that's it. About messi's freekicks well 80% can shoot great freekicks. Don't get me wrong, he can be best ever candidate easy.
