I wanted to update this sled, it has run with no problems and i have had one broken belt when i loaded it on a trailer and shocked it good. One more thing the rear tail light burned out and Cat wanted $40 for a replacement so i just bought a LED clearance light from home depot for $8 and it looks like it was always on there and works great.

We still use this sled with the belt setup, currently I converted back to original so my 3 1/2 year old has slower gearing but will switch back when he masters it.

The drive sounds a lot quieter than with the chain. I have one and the chain is almost all you hear

I thought this was going to be a cvt belt drive. I’m still a little confused on the chain wearing out. I’ve never had chain issues. No stretching or gears wearing causing skipping. even with a bigger 208cc I’m still on my original 2006 chain. I’m even going to try and shoe horn a 250 cc brigs and Stratton 11hp on that same chain!!

You must have gotten a good one, i had to change the front sprocket twice and I had to buy the whole clutch and all to get it. After the kids got a little older i went with a smaller rear sprocket and the wear got worse, now for me this is what works, I would not change the setup if what you have is working for you.

So the chain is skipping on the sprocket? Again i wouldn’t convert my timing chain in my engine to a timing belt. Check my videos on little kitty cat ripping around. It’s had 250 lbs and the track had to be tightened because the track would ratchet on the sprocket. I am a mechanic by trade and see a chain as a simple long term. I love the idea of lighter drive train

I purchased them from Grainger but any bearing store probably has something similar.

Would you be able to enlighten us on pulley sizes and belt part number or length?

If you still pause the video at 3.37 There is a picture with part numbers from Grainger just research it from that if you can. We are still using the same belt this year and have had no problems it works almost to good to be true, still be nice if a mod shop would make a kit with lite weight components but what i show here works good and has stood the test of time and a ride hard granddaughter.

How do you get the drive sprocket to not spin when you take it out, I don’t have an impact or anything and have been trying to hand wrench it but its just too tight for a vice grip, it turns when I try to undo the nut and eventually the grip rips off

    • @katman1957
      @katman1957  ปีที่แล้ว

An impact would be a good investment, there must me some way to wedge something in to keep it from spinning but I never tried since the impact does it in seconds.

good modification! Where did you source the large and small sprockets/belt?

Any parts list for this with part numbers?

Pause video at 3:40 and there is a list from Grainger. My 4 year old and youngest grand kid just starting using it and the belt set up still works good. I put original gearing on when he first stared but the chain broke after about a week and the belt went back on and has been working all winter.

    How has it held up?

    • @katman1957

My 4 year old still uses it and it works great, we are trading up to a 200 this season and will be selling this one probably within our family but it has been a wonderful sled without having to worry about the chain all the time. i wish some speed shop would adapt the concept and offer a kit maybe with a 3d printed rear sprocket.

@@katman1957 are you looking at making and selling the belt system as a kit? I know a bunch of people have made the recommendation

I am not planning on making kits, the part numbers are listed in the video someone can just use those and make them i guess. ps we just got back form our remote cabin and my 4 year old drove it in 12 miles one way and all around cabin for the weekend with no trouble. @@StrategicTactical
