I agree, mindful purchasing is very important. I love visiting thrift stores and garage sales. When visiting one of these shopping opportunities I keep myself mindful of what I have room for and will I be removing something else in order to bring something into my home. This has saved us lots of money. Also, less things = more freedom!
Absolutely!!!
I was just thinking the same thing! I also have a deal with myself that I won't enter my favourite thrift store unless I am bringing some donations to share. Because I have a one in one out rule, in my mind, the shop is a gigantic closet that I can "rent" things from for a really good price.
Please, please, please go to Lindsay's house and help her declutter room by room and take us with you! It sounds like you have her convinced it's the way to go, but she clearly can't start on her own. She trusts you, and us, and just start somewhere and see if it's a good idea. Then share it with us. She keeps saying "20 years of clutter" and is now saying she felt good with the mugs being out of sight. She's ready and I'm ready to watch it! Please❤ 🙏 ?
Oh my goodness, your comment cracked me up 😂😂 You're so right, I definitely know it's the way to go! And, the awesome thing is that allll these pod conversations have actually gotten me started 🙌🏻 YAY! I've got two huge donation bags on the FRONT seat of my car, ready to go tomorrow! And, I do totally trust Robyn and this wonderful community!... but not enough to come into our house 🤣🤣😉 I will say though, even reading your comment here made me feel even more motivated to keep gooooing!! 💞💞💞 Thanks so much!
She’s working on it 😻
Regarding junk mail and excess paper mail; our son shreds everything and uses it to start his firepit fires. He hosts lots of parties and loves to gather folks around his firepit. Great use of that excess paper.
A very good idea!
I so agree with you about people just dropping in.
I won’t even just drop in on my children. It’s just good manners in a polite society.
Wonderful podcast
Thanks Sharon!
I would add to what you're gaining by saying, you're gaining more time, freedom, space and the ability to relax and just breathe
SO true!
Love watching you cook - I'm now inspired to make a big pot of chilli! So many helpful ideas in this podcast - from mindful purchasing to decluttering habits, to managing paper (my downfall!). I can also relate to 'mug love' - have now reduced my collection to just a few that I really like. My parents used to have a nightly routine of preparing for the next day (set table for breakfast, etc.) and I really want to revisit that in my present-day household.
Wonderful! 👌🏼👋🏼✨
Oh this is so helpful! Clothes and decor items are so personal unless you really know the person don’t buy it for them. Once I told my friend the decor item she purchased for me broke lol. It was just not my style.
Oh goodness, yes
I hated vacuuming so I made a game as my stick vacuum lasts 7 min on high so I did a quick one of the whole house daily
The benefit is that the house stayed clean as things were always picked up to vacuum and the house always stayed clean
That's great!
What brand etc is your canner you used at end with all the jars? I have always done a water bath 10 min etc. I wonder if that works better?
Ohh, that’s my All-American pressure canner. Love it!
Our union health insurance sends us a paper notice yearly and every time we go to ER or PT or Chiropractor. It’s so annoying. Why can’t they call or email? They want everything in paper and even still require mailed in authorization. It’s so wasteful.
Yeesh…
Have you tried McCormick zesty tomato seasoning pack with your tomatoes? I have made sauce and frozen. I used food processor after getting peels off. But I like your process. Interesting to use the hand blender.
I have not! Thanks for the tip
I screenshot and then lose it in my phones pictures 😂
🤣
Yeah… you can search by type though, right? And then see only screen shots?
@@MinimalistHome Smart 🤦♀️ Never thought of this!
I spent quite a long time this past holiday weekend decluttering most of my kitchen. The pantry had way too much expired food. I had to reconfigure the whole counter space due to new appliances. It feels better.
Great job! 👌🏼🌟
Whack is your new favorite word!😂
hahaha
What a labor of love all that tomato processing was!
❤🎉❤
It was, SO gooooood
At what temperature and for how long did you do the tomatoes in the roaster?
Hey! I don't know what temp, not too high. I simmered them for a few hours before switching to the pot to reduce further
That is the cutest polka dot bowl!
Thanks!
