I received a mission from a friend to restore three National Panasonic brand cassette recorders. I'm going to make a series of three videos
Model: RQ-2222 MA Made in Brazil in the early 80's
Model: RQ-2211 MA Made in Brazil in the early 80's
Model: RQ-209 MS Made in Japan in the early 70's
Among them I chose to restore first the recorder RQ-209 MS Made in Japan in the early 70's

In this restoration I will clean the entire mechanism and lubricate it. It will also be necessary to restore the keys that are yellowed from years of use and I will also do a general cleaning.
After the whole restore process, it will work as a new cassette tape recorder again.

All canal restorations are done very simply but very carefully.

How much can such a renovation cost in the service center? I received a similar one (RQ-209DAS) from the USA in 1971. It was the first tape recorder in my life! It had no IC and built-in microphone. We wound the 120 Volt transformer to the Hungarian 220 Volt. I loved that beautiful little tape recorder. Out of nostalgia, I bought a working RQ-309AS in 2022! It already has a microphone and power supply selector. You did a very nice and careful job. Thanks for sharing!

Oldest set of National.i used in 73-74.I think that was not on IC.

What date was on the motor sticker? That first recorder was made in 1971/72, I believe.
