This was an absolutely inspiring and uplifting episode… It’s so important to hear stories of people who have escaped and had interesting and successful lives. The superstitious fear insiders have of judgement from an angry god is very powerful. I escaped from an open brethren upbringing (not quite as controlling but no less all-consuming), and for some years after, still found myself wondering if I would be struck down for “enjoying” life!
