Great info here, gear maintenance is something we never seem to have time for, but this has us heading for our gear room to make sure our gear is ready for this years camping season. Thanks for the tips mate, keep em coming!
.. Good maintenance video ,, I've also have a MSR Whisperlite for over 40+ years ... Along with many others over the years ... Definitely my GO-To in winter ,, especially at altitude ... Good reminder to pick up a new service kit ..... Thanks ....
Mine is the standard Whisperlite. I hope I never lose my original pump. I’ve always been able to make the repairs. Bombproof is right. Great guidance for the tune up. 👍
@@hemlocksandloons yeah man! I keep trying to make my way over to where you are... I'll hit you up if I get a chance to paddle in the Sylvania Wilderness this year. Maybe we could link up.
I just dug my Whisperlite International after not using it for about ten years. I found your video to be be very detailed and helpful. I have the same older grey pump that you serviced. I have noticed that the tab to lock the pump plunger in place has broken off. I suspect that if I make sure the one way valve is working properly, this shouldn’t be a major problem. However I am happy to stand corrected as a new plunger isn’t terribly expensive.
@bruiser6479 my just broke about a month ago. You are correct that it will still work. I am looking for options as I like the older pump better than the new ones.
It will work with out it as it serves no purpose in the operation. The issue you may find is the jet getting clogged regularly or the stove performing poorly. You will need to take it apart and clean the jet with the wire tool more often.

I agree, most of time we do repairs and skip the maintenance. Thanks for watching!

Definitely the best all around stove out there. I just wish it would simmer. Thanks for watching!

Also great job on growing your channel!
Thanks! I was going to send you a text at Canoecopia and just never got around to it. If you are there next year we need to meet up.

is it ok without shaker needle? because my shaker needle in the maintenance kit is too short than original.. and the original is already damage...
