IN CASE SOMEONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM: if you are trying to get a shimeji to work and the file that you're supposed to double click is a winrar archive file, IT WILL NOT RUN REGARDLESS OF JAVA VERSION. you need to delete the shimeji file, uninstall winrar (uninstalling winrar asks you to restart your pc), and re-download the shimeji file. when it is extracted, it should be a .jar file (java executable file with a java icon) and not a winrar archive file. it HAS to be a .jar file to run. i couldn't find any resources on how to turn the winrar archive file into a .jar file, or how to find the .jar file in your files, so if anyone else has any helpful input, feel free to drop it below!

@@i_is_a_sand_dune7675 Just look up Shimeji on the Chrome browser! It will take you to a website that has a bit of orange and has little characters there with a long list! Look in that list and you’ll find Dream SMP! I don’t think there are any other ones besides the Dream SMP for MCYT sadly

You're most welcome! If you have both of the shimeji's img folders inside my shimeji program's img folder, you should be able to pick them out using the "Choose Shimeji" option in settings. :D

Hi! I got the same problem. When you download your shimeji rar or zip file, immediately extract that file somewhere. I used winrar for mine, extract it to another folder (I put mine in downloads) and then open the shimeji with java from the extracted folder. Hope it helps!

Sorry to be a little late getting back to you. What you need to do is correct the association that Windows has with Jar files. When you right click on shimeji-ee.jar, select Open With and use the Java Runtime. You can also set it to run with Java always. WinRAR is especially bad at taking over Jar files, the naughty thing.
if you already have Java, try right clicking on the internet explorer icon, then go to properties, and if the "open with" says internet explorer, click on the change button next to it and select your java, it should work :D
Does one appear in the first place? Or none arrive at all? How long did you give it? Sometimes they take a few seconds to load up. Do any errors appear? There might be a hint in the log file that's generated when you run the program.
I have the same problem. I double click the .jar file and nothing happens, even though I have 32bit java installed. The logs do appear and the example clock also appears when I run it, but the shimeji itself doesn't.

I know this is an older video but I've only recently installed this program (after using the old Shimeji program from years ago and missing having the little critters walking around and interacting with my desktop) and I cannot get any Shimejis to show up. The program appears to be installed correctly but after I tell it which ones I want to use, nothing happens. The shimejis don't show up but it doesn't say its run into an error either. I've looked at the troubleshooting section but that hasn't fixed the issue either.
