10:33 One other thing that might explain Soundwave's actions is that he wouldn’t want to lose his last partner. Frenzy, Rumble, Ravage were all gone. Rian Johnson made a Star Wars movie with one of the themes was about winning the war by surviving. Soundwave may have felt the same fear of loosing his partner again like Arcee or the Wreckers. Tailgate, Cliffjumper, Seaspray. A long war costs a lot of lives. Always be careful of old men in a business where young men die. Because these veterans ain’t gonna lose their partners again. No matter what.
@beril şevval bekret There’s nothing to prove that they were killed in action. But it wouldn’t be outside the norm. We do know from the Megatronus flashback that Soundwave had a way larger body and arms before the civil war. And considering that his quick is his smaller partners. You get what I’m saying. Soundwave and laserbeak are practically soulmates. Just imagine laserbeak just chose not to talk because he is an introvert, and soundwave is simlpy the only one he talks to, because soundwave is the only one he trusts. Would make sense, because they wouldnt need to talk through actual language. And that laserbeak is secretly happy everyone sees him as an extention of soundwave, because then, he can enjoy not being disturbed by anyone. Both laserbeak and soundwave are awesome
TFP was the first Transformers show that I was watching and from the very beginning I knew Laserbeak was alive and then I was arguing with others beacouse they just refused to believe it.
Same here. I was introduced to the fandom through the Bay movies (at least they're good for something) and was the directed to TF Prime and G1. And it has become my absolute favorite fandom with Soundwave and Lazerbeak being my all time favorites.
Considering we have seen plenty of animalistic minicons who can talk, but we never heard Laserbeak talk, which further shows how deep his bond is with Soundwave
In my head I imagine laserbeak fanboying over soundwave and thinking he's cool, so laser beak just copies soundwave and just doesn't talk, trying to be cool and edgy.
@@erikthomsen4768 I wonder if it would be revealed that laserbeak is the last of soundwaves minicon partners. The others like Ravage, Frenzy, Rumble, Ratbat, Overkill and Slugest are sadly dead
I grew up with G1, and while I love the Prime series the relationship between Laserbeak and the other Decepticons was very different. As Megatron said himself "Ah, welcome Laserbeak. Unlike my other warriors you never fail me."
another thing, soundwave watches and follows lazerbeaks movements most of the time. it's something shown among human parents as well where we don't try to let ourselves get distracted while watching our kids. just thought of pointing it out.
You forgot to mention that during the scene that soundwave is examining laserbeak after the explosion, he SLOWLY retracts them, and its obvious he'd rather be trying to help him than opening the space bridge for knockout-and Shockwave but they had no idea he was there

@DreamSmasher There are literally different species/races marked by name in the aligned continuity. Do more homework. I've been studying this for years, and your comment hurts my eyes.
DreamSmasher Watching Transformers Prime and looking at everything in the aligned continuity. You may not have noticed, but that’s what this video is about! Also, sounds like any mention of different races riles you up. Predacon, Insecticon, Minicon, Arachnicon, Mutacon, Corvicon... oooOooO... Look at these terms I made up! Lol, sjw isn’t an insult to normal people, you know
When Laserbeak transformed into pink Bumblebee I was in love! I really loved his part in Cyberverse. It showed his individuality. There is a episode for Rescue Bots Academy where the recruits have interactions with Laserbeak and have strong opinions about him. Then one of the recruits admits he was a decepticon. Perceptor lets them know that Laserbeak is cool and everyone can change or something like that. They never aired the episode, which is a shame.
Hopefully some day we'll get an extension or another show with Prime's lore, there are so many characters like Laserbeak that deserve more love and runtime.
One of the things I noticed, in G1, Soundwave would specifically give credit to his Minicons when they accomplish something. But since he doesn’t talk in Prime, and their does Laserbeak, that leads to the Decepticons giving Soundwave all the credit. Plus, in this show Laserbeak actually looks EXACTLY like a Drone. Most of his mass is his wings and his actual body doesn’t extend beyond them very much, and barely has a head. Kinda hard not to be seen as a drone, when ya look like one. If he looked like an actual robo birb, it’d probably be a different story. Just a thought I had.
This video is awesome. I love thinking about this type of stuff, and being someone who only recently finished the series prior to the movie I really enjoy learning all I can about it. These vids are very informative and I greatly appreciate them. Thanks for making them and being epic.
Oh my gosh this is so cool and it's awesome to find someone else who is also passionate about the Aligned Continuity! I love how you used the books as part of your evidence as well. I can't wait to watch the rest of your discussion videos!
Soundwave and Laserbeak are my favorites. It was a silent friendship and even though they were bad guys, I found them extremely likable. I think Laserbeak is depicted more animal like in this show, someone mentioned he could talk in like a comic or something, but Laserbeak and Soundwave reminded me of something like a falcon and a falconer but with deeper bonds than that.
Great video! You don't get the attention you deserve. The Transformers-community is so big yet so little people seem to look beyond collecting toys. Which is perfectly fine of course
I think part of the problem with all this disregard for Laserbeak throughout the show is that a *lot* of mainstream transformers media - both in the writers and the audience - has treated minicons with that exact mentality. Right since G1, all of Soundwave's minicons besides Rumble and Frenzy were pretty much just pets. Sure, in there was a lot of focus on minicons in the Unicron trilogy, but that's only because they were seen as tools/power-ups for larger transformers. Minicons as characters have really only gotten to shine in the comics. That said, in more recent years in TV shows, there has been more focus on minicons as characters, and theres even been in-universe recognition of the prejudices they experience (RiD 2015). In fairness, in-universe racism towards minicons does make sense as a societal issue they could experience, and there's potential for a lot of great storytelling and metaphors in it. Additionally, a lot of the writers/producers for mainstream content probably aren't doing it with the intent of disregarding minicons as characters; in the case of TFP Laserbeak, they may have just felt that there wasn't really room to focus on his personality, and it may have clashed with Soundwave's extreme silence throughout the show. There's also the chance that they may not even be aware they're doing it; for all they know, minicons could literally just be transformers animals and that's that, nothing deeper to look into. While this is an honest and forgivable mistake, and if it is indeed happening, the fact that it occurs so much tells me that they didn't put much (or any) effort into correcting this for a long time, though again, they might not even know they should be. TL;DR Ultimately, my point is that this in-universe disregard for minicons stems from the writers and producers of transformers content doing that themselves (which is, in itself, just one part of an even larger issue of "they're robots, they don't have real feelings" mindset that so many people look at transformers with, but that's a topic for another day; this comment is already long enough lol).
I've seen so many decepticons underestimate the kids. I've also seen Megatron not do that, but he doesn't interact with them that much. Realizing that soundwave takes them seriously scared the hell out of me. Remember when the kids got bridged to a satellite and soundwave was right there in the building with them?? There's no sneaking there. The only reason he didn't axe them a question was not because he didn't see them as a threat but simply because he saw he could better neutralize that threat by cutting the hard-line then by cutting the kids.
Laserbeak has always been one of my favorite characters. I grew up watching a whole bunch of different Transformers cartoons, from G1 to Energon to Cybertron to Prime, and every iteration of Laserbeak makes me smile because he's always been a character I appreciate. It's always heartwarming to see Megatron demonstrate care for Laserbeak, most commonly seen in the G1 cartoon. Since watching your essay on Vehicons, it occurs to me how, even back in G1, the Autobots didn't particularly care about how their actions could hurt the Cassetticons far more than another Decepticon of greater size, whereas the Decepticons actually, to some degree, mingled with them, particularly Rumble and Frenzy. It's a shame we never got to see the other Casetticons in Prime, or even other minicons, up until later in Cyberverse. Thank you for making this video about one of my favorite Transformers characters.
Dude I never realized how damn ballsy laserbeak was. He fought an upgraded Optimus prime on his own and actually managed to take him on. Flew directly into a base filled with Autobots that could take him out of the sky with a single shot, and didn’t send any kind of beacon when he was shot out of the air while ABOVE THE CLOUDS
@@oceanicking8988 nah, soundwave is much more terrifying by a significant margin. The silence, the speed, and the lack of information about him is what makes him a terrifying opponent
Laserbeak prompted one of the most cold and awesome scenes of Soundwave's. Since he literally woke up from a dead sleep and took out three autobots effortlessly.
Great video. You sure can get me thinking. I really feel for the Minicons and Vehicons now. Though I've never had to deal with racism I do understand prejudice and judgment.
In Triage, I remember Wheeljack suggesting they rig Laserbeak with a claymore so it would detonate when attaching to Soundwave, killing them both. But Ratchet suggested planting a virus inside of him so it could transmit the rest of the Iacon database to their HQ, essentially sacrificing the relic they were looking for over the rest of the locations. It’s a smart idea but killing Soundwave would prove to be very effective at winning the war. Soundwave is not only a dangerous decepticon but he is also a vital part of their cause, being loyal to Megatron to ensure his status as a leader and the head intelligence officer. Without Soundwave, Megatron would have a hard time fighting the Autobots and having any leads over them.
I always loved how Soundwave is so focused on the mission that he was the only one to retrieve an Iacon relic, but also genuinely cares about Laserbeak so much that he doesn’t even kill Wheeljack and just instantly flies off to go help him. Also, 13:45 that’s pretty funny.
Honestly I really liked Soundwave's design here and that Lazerbeak is basically his transforming chest armor. I would love to have Soundwave as like a mini-combiner of all his cassettes: Ravage, Lazerbeak, Rumble, and Frenzy
I can just imaginr Laserbeak making high pitch sounds when going back to join Soundwave, like a child telling their parent of what they've done in a happy way
Honestly though. Soundwave is my favorite character due to this sort of stuff! Just! Sure, he's on the "evil side" but he never feels like he's malicious or 'evil' within himself. Just... loyal. And whilst that loyalty means that there is likely no other option for him in these stories other than death on some levels, it does make him a character which i think deserves respect. Also I'd be over the MOON if they fleshed out lazerbeak and displayed that lazerbeak was more than just a drone.
I don't know why. But the Prime version of Soundwave terrified me as a kid 9 years ago. Mabey because of the fact that he was mute. And had no proper face. Just a dark look into the void.
It not only shows/underlines their bond, but also mentioned the Cybertron's social problems which is already a good thing... also loved the jokes/notes- Btw, canonically it was that Soundwave had telepathic abilities which is quite the base to his connections/bonds with his minicons- They literally communicate that way I think. As Soundwave himself decided to take a vow of silence, but it never ment he wounldn't "inaudibly" communicate with his companions... This vid enlightens the bond between these "uncommon" cybertronians but also covers the discriminations (just like those in our real world), which I just love & thank you for deeply!
Poor Laserbeak, people are so inconsiderate of him. I like how much Soundwave cares about him though, and I like how Starscream treats him like a sentient being:3 I also always saw Laserbeak as his own individual character, even if his credit does end up going to Soundwave. Also, on another note, I am curious about how Megatron feels about Starscream. I mean, we know Starscream hates and fears Megs and only becomes loyal out of his own need to survive. But what I wanna know is what does Megatron feel about Starscream? Does he hate Starscream? Does he like him? Does he see potential in him? His behavior towards Starscream in the series is pretty peculiar. Here we have a little guy who often betrays his master, yet the master just punishes him and lets him live, not even locking him up for his treachery. And he accepts Starscream back in their ranks so easily, despite having been away for so long and not being trustworthy at all. And let's not forget that he KILLED DREADWING TO SAVE STARSCREAM. True, as you said in an earlier video, he killed Dreadwing because he disobeyed his orders, but it still seems a bit odd considering how he treats Starscream throughout it all. Does Megatron really only keep Starscream around as a punching bag and to keep himself on his toes, or does Megatron actually care about Starscream in some way? I would like to see an analysis of Megatron's relationship with Starscream, if you get the time for it, of course. :) I love your character analyses, you go so deep into everything and even include other characters relevant to the main character's analysis. :3
Rubywing4 I could talk about Starscream and Megatron. The easiest explanation I see is that Megatron in his spark hates him, but at the same time is so used to him being around. He is attached to the bugger whether he realizes it or not, unable to dispose of him in cases when he would others. He doesn’t have reason to kpeep him around to be sharp, I mean he would rather have a useful second in command who offers ideas. And Starscream does constantly surprise him with ideas and offer entertainment. And Megatron figured out the pattern to control Starscream, whereas Dreadwing is too strong and can get out of control
@@emperorkumquat That's true, when I talked about Star "keeping Megs on his toes", I was thinking about the G1 version, which of course isn't the same as here, I forgot XP I just find their relationship interesting and funny, as it seems to be universal that Megatron can't seem to get himself to kill Starscream despite his treachery:P (perhaps with the exception of their Animated incarnations where Megatron really couldn't care less if Star is dead or alive... oh, and Cyberverse as well.)

I love Soundwave!
I can and will agree
10:33
One other thing that might explain Soundwave's actions is that he wouldn’t want to lose his last partner.
I love this but where in it says that Ravage Rumble and Frenzy are killed? Which content?
@beril şevval bekret
There’s nothing to prove that they were killed in action.

There's something so funny about the line "starscream, a known racist"
"LORD MEGATRON, I AM GOING TO SAY THE N WORD.
NUTS."
TFP was the first Transformers show that I was watching and from the very beginning I knew Laserbeak was alive and then I was arguing with others beacouse they just refused to believe it.
Drago The Predator Since he is called a minicon, everyone should most certainly believe it. All minicons are Cybertronians born of the Allspark
Same here. I was introduced to the fandom through the Bay movies (at least they're good for something) and was the directed to TF Prime and G1. And it has become my absolute favorite fandom with Soundwave and Lazerbeak being my all time favorites.
Also as bin
Considering we have seen plenty of animalistic minicons who can talk, but we never heard Laserbeak talk, which further shows how deep his bond is with Soundwave
In my head I imagine laserbeak fanboying over soundwave and thinking he's cool, so laser beak just copies soundwave and just doesn't talk, trying to be cool and edgy.
Is it possible that the four Minicons: Frenzy, Rumble, Ravage and Laserbeak all took the same vow of silence as Soundwave?
@@erikthomsen4768 I could never imagine rumble not talk lol, the loudmouth
@@erikthomsen4768 I wonder if it would be revealed that laserbeak is the last of soundwaves minicon partners. The others like Ravage, Frenzy, Rumble, Ratbat, Overkill and Slugest are sadly dead

15:33 "Did any of the surveillance data survive?" Damn it Megatron! His baby is hurting! How dare you ask him that while he's trying to fix him?
I grew up with G1, and while I love the Prime series the relationship between Laserbeak and the other Decepticons was very different. As Megatron said himself "Ah, welcome Laserbeak. Unlike my other warriors you never fail me."
another thing, soundwave watches and follows lazerbeaks movements most of the time. it's something shown among human parents as well where we don't try to let ourselves get distracted while watching our kids.
just thought of pointing it out.
You forgot to mention that during the scene that soundwave is examining laserbeak after the explosion, he SLOWLY retracts them, and its obvious he'd rather be trying to help him than opening the space bridge for knockout-and Shockwave but they had no idea he was there
the fact that laserbeak in the cannon to prime cybertron games is his own character made me evade this trap
I evaded because I watched the G1 series although it still strikes me as odd that megatron allowed starscream to wield him in gun mode when he is the most treacherous Decepticon of all.

I'm just going to keep making more until I get more subscribers, but generally the Starscream content gets me the most. I want to cover everything, so I might have to stagger Starscream-something else-Starscream-something else... But I hope that a very large project I am working on will get everyone's attention in the future. But hey, in January I had less than 100 subscribers. Yay me!
Hi TRANS
Trans theories you sent me here and I am very happy with my first impressions
@DreamSmasher There are literally different species/races marked by name in the aligned continuity. Do more homework. I've been studying this for years, and your comment hurts my eyes.
DreamSmasher Watching Transformers Prime and looking at everything in the aligned continuity. You may not have noticed, but that’s what this video is about! Also, sounds like any mention of different races riles you up. Predacon, Insecticon, Minicon, Arachnicon, Mutacon, Corvicon... oooOooO... Look at these terms I made up!
Lol, sjw isn’t an insult to normal people, you know
If Soundwave lost his other Deployer Minicon then that makes his response to Laserbeak's distress signal even more understandable.
What I find interesting is that laser beak is the one that restored sound waves memories. It’s like a backup file. And soundwave entrusts that to him.
I've always considered Soundwave the cybertronian equivalent of a masked mercenary and Laserbeak as his loyal pet falcon.
Now I really wanna know what Soundwave would do if Megatron harmed Laserbeak
Well if that ever happens there won't be a Megatron left for us to find out by the time Soundwave gets done with him
@@shadowhunter791 yeah, megatron would be screwed

@G.slayer Yes, but soundwave can outsmart him easily, he should know mega's skillset after being his closest ally for so long

KO: What did you tell him?
Starscream: Nothing racist.
Wedge was the one who admitted that he was a decepticon
Hopefully some day we'll get an extension or another show with Prime's lore, there are so many characters like Laserbeak that deserve more love and runtime.
Technically the Rescue Bots tv show is part of the Aligned Continuity... Yeah I know it isn't much.
@@livium9149 late but ironically, Rescue Bots' own sequel actually DID give Laserbeak more focus.
This gives me another reason that laser beak and soundwave are my favorite characters in all transformers
"Let's face it, if Starscream is going to say something racist, nothing is going to stop him."
Best fucking thing I have ever read in a long time.
8:40 He even says "If you are listening," on the off chance that it's "just" Laserbeak.
I've always viewed Lazerbeak as a full sparked cybertronian.
But I still like how this video goes indepth on the apparent psychology of the TFP cast!
Just more reasons to add why Soundwave is my favorite decepticon.
I guess we didn’t realize how sentient he was unlike the decepticons.
This video is awesome. I love thinking about this type of stuff, and being someone who only recently finished the series prior to the movie I really enjoy learning all I can about it. These vids are very informative and I greatly appreciate them. Thanks for making them and being epic.
I’d rather be called an extension of Soundwave than an extension of just about anyone else
Oh my gosh this is so cool and it's awesome to find someone else who is also passionate about the Aligned Continuity! I love how you used the books as part of your evidence as well. I can't wait to watch the rest of your discussion videos!
I've always seen the quiet nature of Soundwave and Laserbeak as possibly a way to protect each other and themselves.
Nobody:
Emperor Kumquat: Your all robot racist.
Ah yes. The most competent Decepticon in history.
Soundwave is the most badass character in TFP or even the whole Transformers. He is so silent yet so badass. I love it about him. 😍👌😎
TL;DR
Ultimately, my point is that this in-universe disregard for minicons stems from the writers and producers of transformers content doing that themselves (which is, in itself, just one part of an even larger issue of "they're robots, they don't have real feelings" mindset that so many people look at transformers with, but that's a topic for another day; this comment is already long enough lol).
When this came up in my recommended I did not expect an entire freaking persuasive speech! Also now I want to see soundwave and laserbeak cuddles.
15:48 For a second I was like OH MY GOD SOUNDWAVE TALKED. But then I realised. The ending fit perfectly
This is wonderfully well-put together! I'm glad to see people making content like this in the Transformers community and I hope we can see more!
I actually want you to do more videos like this, like explore cybertronioan society and racism and maybe even history

Can you imagine megatron just having starscream attached to his chest like laserbeak and soundwave.

@@watyhu99 Shockwave*
@@oceanicking8988 nah, soundwave is much more terrifying by a significant margin. The silence, the speed, and the lack of information about him is what makes him a terrifying opponent
Laserbeak prompted one of the most cold and awesome scenes of Soundwave's. Since he literally woke up from a dead sleep and took out three autobots effortlessly.
Soundwave is probably the most badass decepticon. He can do just about whatever he wants and Megatron just lets him.
Bro I love the chunky armed soundwave from the flashback sequences.
You deserve at least 100,000 subs for the quality of content you upload

He's Wave Daddy to all of us.
Great video. You sure can get me thinking. I really feel for the Minicons and Vehicons now. Though I've never had to deal with racism I do understand prejudice and judgment.
Thank you for making this video. You have opened my heart...
Laserbeak and Soundwave are too awesome!!!
Soundwave and his minicons, it's sad the other 3 arent in Transformers Prime. But we can appreciate them when they show up in some of the movies .
most loyal silent sigma male Decepticon ever. That doesn't involve dark of the moon soundwave.
This is my 3rd time watching this. I love Lazerbeak and Soundwave's dynamic so much
I always loved how Soundwave is so focused on the mission that he was the only one to retrieve an Iacon relic, but also genuinely cares about Laserbeak so much that he doesn’t even kill Wheeljack and just instantly flies off to go help him.

Laaserbeak is MUCH MORE than an extension of Soundwave. He is FAMILY. He just doesn't get the credit, love and recognition he deserves.
Soundwave is literally the most loyal Decepticon
Don't know why but the voice made me go nuts, so calm and nice and then talking about this topic yolo
I don't know why. But the Prime version of Soundwave terrified me as a kid 9 years ago. Mabey because of the fact that he was mute. And had no proper face. Just a dark look into the void.
It not only shows/underlines their bond, but also mentioned the Cybertron's social problems which is already a good thing...
also loved the jokes/notes-
Btw, canonically it was that Soundwave had telepathic abilities which is quite the base to his connections/bonds with his minicons- They literally communicate that way I think.
I like how much Soundwave cares about him though, and I like how Starscream treats him like a sentient being:3
I also always saw Laserbeak as his own individual character, even if his credit does end up going to Soundwave.
I love your character analyses, you go so deep into everything and even include other characters relevant to the main character's analysis.
@@emperorkumquat That's true, when I talked about Star "keeping Megs on his toes", I was thinking about the G1 version, which of course isn't the same as here, I forgot XP
I just find their relationship interesting and funny, as it seems to be universal that Megatron can't seem to get himself to kill Starscream despite his treachery:P (perhaps with the exception of their Animated incarnations where Megatron really couldn't care less if Star is dead or alive... oh, and Cyberverse as well.)
@DreamSmasher when they called laserbeak an 'it' he was unconscious. THAT is both discrimination and racism.
in the IDW comics he keeps starscream around because his scheming keeps megatron's mind sharp and on his toes.
