I understand that Jerry was not in Diana’s level intellectually (and economically) but he just needed more opportunities. He had potential and I could easily see a great story line for him. Maybe not the traditional one... but changes to stories can be an improvement. I can envision several story lines with Diana and Jerry. Diana can pursue her university career while Jerry seeks to improve both his economic status and education. While Diana continues to struggle in the life that her parents want her to live she can see herself give that up and create her own path. Along the way she would be courted by wealthier suitors maybe even Moody being a suitor (not as wealthy though). While this storyline with Diana is taking place, Jerry is improving his place in society to be worthy of Diana. He can begin by improving his education and buying and farming land to improve his economic status - with the goal of becoming worthy for Diana. Then the story can take a tragic romantic turn where Diana just can’t leave her social status behind, no matter how much Jerry improves himself (although she is in love with him). Jerry becomes bitter and continues to strive to become the wealthiest man in Avonlea. Obviously, there would be more to their story lines but this could be a draft... lol
My partner showed me this series. It was one of the best ones I have seen so far after "Dark" everything was on point. Truly a masterpiece. I am naturally a romantic guy no matter how much I tried to deny it or resist it. Years of hardships, between death of loved ones, accidents, near death experiences, fears, ups, downs, rejections, heartbreaks can harden your heart. You become cold, this is why a part of me related to Marilla and other part to how romantic anne, Jerry, Guilbert were. Luckily I met a woman after 25 years of loneliness that felt like the light at the end of the tunnel. A new, beautiful hope. And even her name is an arabic translation of "Sunshine": Doha. This makes it more poetic. She also spent all her life alone, had her share of heartbreaks. It feels like we both have been waiting for each other. I too used to feel like those romantic movies are biased and cliché. But a part of me has Always craved it. When you re a hopeless romantic you become bitter. Having someone in your life that cares for you and worries about you as much as you worry about yourself (at times even more) is truly a blessing. It is a real thing, even in movies it's not perfect. It was never meant to be perfect but it is meant to be real. Anyways.. Got carried away lol. This series is full of life and good vibes. As episodes go by at some point you feel like you became a member of their family. Not gonna lie at some instances I even teared up. The acting was amazing and so believable, the events felt real. Too bad it had to end. The kinda series that always keep you wanting more and actually that's why we're here.
I hated that the storyline went like this! :( I loved Diana and Jerry and I didn't understand why they had to break up and especially why they had to make Diana be the one to do it. I think this relationship could have had so much potential for great storylines. Like Diana teaching Jerry more about what they learn in school. Or Diana's parents finding out that they are together and trying to forbid them to see each other. Then maybe their relationship would have a tragical end when Diana had to go to Paris, but they would still write each other letters. I would have loved to get to see all these things. I really didn't understand why they had to end it like this :((
Totally agree!! This couple is both romantic and tragedic in the same time!!! I feel sorry for Jerry - he was totally in LOVE with Diana, not just a little crush. And I feel bad for Diana too, nowadays we're so different from those girls, so we couldn't understand that parents were allowed to make their children do every thing they want, especially in marriage! Society has against her every minutes, Diana deserves better!! And the way she be rude to Jerry, I thought it was because she couldn't be softer, she was scared that this wrong relationship would become further and ofc her parents would totally against her. That wasn't romantic to HER anyway! But I still wait for season 4 (hope they'll renew it) and hope that Diana and Jerry would end up together (Just forget about Fred x Diana in the books!!). While this storyline with Diana is taking place, Jerry is improving his place in society to be worthy of Diana. He can begin by improving his education and buying and farming land to improve his economic status - with the goal of becoming worthy for Diana. Then the story can take a tragic romantic turn where Diana just can’t leave her social status behind, no matter how much Jerry improves himself (although she is in love with him). Jerry becomes bitter and continues to strive to become the wealthiest man in Avonlea. Obviously, there would be more to their story lines but this could be a draft... lol
They shouldve been endgame, i really hope that season 4 they will reconnect 😭😭

My partner showed me this series. It was one of the best ones I have seen so far after "Dark" everything was on point. Truly a masterpiece.
I am naturally a romantic guy no matter how much I tried to deny it or resist it. Years of hardships, between death of loved ones, accidents, near death experiences, fears, ups, downs, rejections, heartbreaks can harden your heart. You become cold, this is why a part of me related to Marilla and other part to how romantic anne, Jerry, Guilbert were. Luckily I met a woman after 25 years of loneliness that felt like the light at the end of the tunnel. A new, beautiful hope. And even her name is an arabic translation of "Sunshine": Doha. This makes it more poetic. She also spent all her life alone, had her share of heartbreaks. It feels like we both have been waiting for each other. I too used to feel like those romantic movies are biased and cliché. But a part of me has Always craved it. When you re a hopeless romantic you become bitter. Having someone in your life that cares for you and worries about you as much as you worry about yourself (at times even more) is truly a blessing. It is a real thing, even in movies it's not perfect. It was never meant to be perfect but it is meant to be real.
Anyways.. Got carried away lol. This series is full of life and good vibes. As episodes go by at some point you feel like you became a member of their family. Not gonna lie at some instances I even teared up. The acting was amazing and so believable, the events felt real. Too bad it had to end. The kinda series that always keep you wanting more and actually that's why we're here.

I loved Diana and Jerry and I didn't understand why they had to break up and especially why they had to make Diana be the one to do it. I think this relationship could have had so much potential for great storylines. Like Diana teaching Jerry more about what they learn in school. Or Diana's parents finding out that they are together and trying to forbid them to see each other. Then maybe their relationship would have a tragical end when Diana had to go to Paris, but they would still write each other letters. I would have loved to get to see all these things. I really didn't understand why they had to end it like this :((

Totally agree!! This couple is both romantic and tragedic in the same time!!! I feel sorry for Jerry - he was totally in LOVE with Diana, not just a little crush. And I feel bad for Diana too, nowadays we're so different from those girls, so we couldn't understand that parents were allowed to make their children do every thing they want, especially in marriage! Society has against her every minutes, Diana deserves better!! And the way she be rude to Jerry, I thought it was because she couldn't be softer, she was scared that this wrong relationship would become further and ofc her parents would totally against her. That wasn't romantic to HER anyway! But I still wait for season 4 (hope they'll renew it) and hope that Diana and Jerry would end up together (Just forget about Fred x Diana in the books!!). They are meant to be, and will always meant to be.
