ThESE TWO DEF HAD A TRAGIC, ANGSTY, TORMENTED ROMANCE AHEAD OF THEM AND I WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO IT WAHHH 😭 💙
I wanted Diana to meet Fred at Queens and almost marry him, but when Anne tells her she's settling for a life of mediocrity by going with him, after some conflict and denial she finally comes to her senses, and finds her way back to Jerry 💜 She realizes she should want more for herself than to settle, and not be with the one you love. I imagined their story in S4 to be full of torment and hardship and Jerry being hurt and unforgiving, but eventually he understands where she's coming from (bc of her parents), and relents.
And all the meanwhile, he becomes a great farmer and educates himself further to the point where he's much more intelligent and well spoken than Diana initially thought. And she realizes that a big part of the problem was his language barrier, and how admirable it is that with his limited education and the fact that this was his second language, he strove so hard to learn and did such a good job. She realizes he didn't go to school ,and had to provide for his family, and learn English and reading in his spare time (which was limited), and she comes to love and admire him even more for it. Argh, I had such a great story arc for our Diana! I imagined her to grow so much, unlike in the books, and I was so looking forward to her character development and her hardships.... With her family, with accepting Anne's advice, with coming to terms with her feelings and ambitions... And then boom, cancelled.
Wahhhh 😭 I guess now all that's left is scope to the imagination, as Anne would say 😢 "Tragical romance" indeed, Anne 💔

You know what i just realized. Jerry gave Diana the book he was reading and Anne saw the same book with Jerry and if she paid a little attention to her friend Anne would have figured it out. But enough with Anne I love them so much
i think anne and gilbert are more realistic. some people might say they get bland but i think they just aren’t over the top and easy. I like jerry and diana together though

I understand that Jerry was not in Diana’s level intellectually (and economically) but he just needed more opportunities. He had potential and I could easily see a great story line for him. Maybe not the traditional one... but changes to stories can be an improvement.
I can envision several story lines with Diana and Jerry. Diana can pursue her university career while Jerry seeks to improve both his economic status and education. While Diana continues to struggle in the life that her parents want her to live she can see herself give that up and create her own path. Along the way she would be courted by wealthier suitors maybe even Moody being a suitor (not as wealthy though). While this storyline with Diana is taking place, Jerry is improving his place in society to be worthy of Diana. He can begin by improving his education and buying and farming land to improve his economic status - with the goal of becoming worthy for Diana. Then the story can take a tragic romantic turn where Diana just can’t leave her social status behind, no matter how much Jerry improves himself (although she is in love with him). Jerry becomes bitter and continues to strive to become the wealthiest man in Avonlea. Obviously, there would be more to their story lines but this could be a draft... lol

Jerry grew up so tall..
I'm sure their story would continue in season four, the same actors felt bad that they broke up, and when they asked Aymeric he put an emoji in sign of: "maybe" or "I don't know", But since their story ended up like this, because they somehow had a forbidden or prohibited love, and since they canceled the serie they couldn't end up together as maybe it was planned, But I'm sure they'd get back together, it's sad that netflix canceled it :(
