- Van Driving - ASDA Store Delivery - Multi-Drop Delivery Driving
Hey all, the third video is here. Finally got around to it. Thank you so much for the positive reception and engagement on the last two, it's great to hear from anyone else who is interested in becoming a driver or currently is for the supermarkets out there!
I have question, or two, for you all here. Wonder if you can answer them or agree with me!
**THIS VIDEO IS IN NO WAY ENDORSED BY THE COMPANY SHOWN
Music used:
Coffee House Jazz - • [No Copyright] Long Ho...
Great vlogs showing the job nicely. I see you scan everything off, i used to leave the palm in the van and manually action everything, just saved me time. Waving to fellow van drivers always good. Keep up the good work mate 👍
Rules say you cant do that anymore
Did you say you had aircon? Wow, we don't at Tesco. Yep always wave at other rival vans, we're all brothers in arms!
Whoops! No aircon, silly me. We can all suffer together hah!
Ocado and Morrisons sprinters have air con
Hey, nice video! Yeah, at our store we all wave at each other, no matter what company they work for, it's very wholesome :)). In the van, I kind of listen to whatever really, my music taste is very varied, I'll listen to a classic rock song, and then the next one will be 90s rap, and the next might be classical lmao. I do listen to a few podcasts also, one I've been listening to is This American Life, they have some very gripping and captivating stories on there. Keep up the good work :D
I’ve been an Asda customer delivery driver since December, was 20 years old at the time. I’m liking the job, we go out far sometimes as some of our route involves going to rural parts in North Wales.. Our vans are Ford Transit 350 and we have 5 of them at the store. I Recently got my Class 1 hgv licence too. For now sticking with ASDA van driving and just see what happens in the future. Good video
I work for Ocado and I try and wave at other supermarkets drivers! In regards to what I listen to I generally listen to the radio. Greg James on Radio 1 from 7am can be entertaining and Scott Mills on Radio 2 from 2pm are my picks.
How is it working for ocado applied recently? Do you work 5 days out 7, and how many weekends do you work ?
Do the radio stations work so you can listen to music in Ocardo vans?
Yes i wave, even if its morrisons or sainsburys or asda driver. Tunes threw bluetooth, last tesco vans had no bluetooth glad they all got scrapped.
I worked for r mail and used to listen to history podcasts or gta radio through TH-cam which was funny and entertaining, also sport channels and Audiobooks.
Yes we wave.
i always wave ! . i have 20 GBites of music , 100 GBites of audiobooks , trance , classical , opera , soul , duke Ellington, Nina simone , loys of Ministry of Sound 1
‘I could murder a podcast’ I highly reccomend
Hi. I start my role at asda on Monday, i used to be a postie so im looking forward to getting back to a delivery job role. My question is do you get training on how to load van? Im assuming the totes are put in in a certain order and the pda will tell you what totes are for which drop? Is there a sat nav on pda to take you to your drop?
Hey! Hope you find it alright, yes you’ll be shown what the labels mean and tote order so the next location you go to the next set of totes you have are readily available. There’s a sat nav on your PDA although some newer estates may not show at the moment but it does tell you what number tote it is and the amount for the drop you are at so you should be good!
Hey just got a full time job with Asda delivering I start Monday I CAN NOT WAIT. I noticed on the basket it said 17-152-m01 what does this mean ? They told me in the show around but I couldn't take it in.
Awesome, congrats! It is great getting to drive around and still have customer interaction so if you can putup with the weather you’ll enjoy it.
Basically the first two digits are the Load ID, you will be assigned a load for your shift. The three digit number is the ‘OSN’ or order number, basically unique to that customers delivery. The last one (letter and number) is the location on the van it goes, for example M is for middle and the number is row 01. This just makes sure the next tote you have available to you is the one for the next house, saves you searching for it. :)
Can I ask, are the vans automatic or can you request automatic vans? I'd love this job but don't like manual.
All automatic
How do you have your breaks . Do you have them whilst out on the road? How long do you get?
Depends if it is a full run (no reloading half way at store) or a half run. If it is a half run the break will be at the atore, usually 30 minutes. If it is a full run it will be on the road, usually 30 minutes but depends on customer delivery slots may be longer.
do you stay out all day or go back to the store for lunch and reload the afternoon?
Some days it is a split run where you will come back have your lunch snd then go back out, other times it could be lunch out on a big / full single run.
just wondering what is the interview procces at asda like as im applying for jobs and just wondering how it is done
When I went for mine it was hardly even an interview, just a talk about the job really. After that I was offered the job. Then you have to watch some videos about road safety and do a test takes about an hour. Then you have your buddy runs, 4 in total where you ride along with a co-worker to learn the ropes. After that you're on your own.
Exactly this basically, some stores may be slightly different.
Why can't you deliver early if the customer is in, when I was on sales vans we just turned up at any time and not many people moaned, but that was years ago when it was a good job to have and the vans were loaded overnight and you finished when all your calls were done, No set hours.
Just policy I guess! Customer picks the slot.
Do the radio stations in the vans work?
Yes they do.
Do you have to work the whole shift or go home when finished,? Also do you have to work in store as that puts me off
At the Asda I drive for, once you've finished your deliveries you go back to the store, unload all your totes and the put your returned items back and then you're done, you go home. I've never once been asked to help around the store, I wouldn't even know what to do in there anyway lol
@@Krz374 ok thank you lots of job adverts always say you have to help out in store
Personally where I work it’s more of s choice if you want to help, you put your returns away and unload as Kraze said but other than that your duties are done. I however have ended up working out back supporting the click and collect area at busy times or if I only end up with a short run to make up the hours.
@@Krz374 thank you, how do the shift pattern works, what are the times and can you choose as I have to take and collect my child from nursery??
Hi @@markharriers4694 This is where I work, I'm unsure if it's the same elsewhere. The days you work will be set we do 4 days a week with 3 days off, I do Wed, Thur, Sat, Sun with the other days off. There are 2 shifts per day, early and late. Early starts are 6:30am, 7:00am, 7:30am and 8:00am. Lates are 2:00pm, 2:30pm, 3:00pm and 3:30pm. Your finish time will be roughly 8 hours after you start but could be less if you get finished early.
There isn't really much choice on the days but you can ask for early or late, when I applied the advert was for late shift so that's what I got, which is what I wanted. Sometimes they'll put me on an early shift if someone is on holiday so it's not set in stone, although it's rare to change. You can also swap days with someone else if you both agree, I swapped my Mon for Sun.
Hope that answers your questions.
What's the pay like, if you don't mind me asking
11.11 p/h
It’s against Asda’s company policy to record your own footage or use your own dash cam in the van. Naughty boy!!
calm down Adolf
It's also illegal driving that fast down those country lanes...slow down son
@@passkat footage is fast forwarded
I did wonder if he had permission from his manager to film.
Brilliant videos mate. I start next week, so excited & nervous at the same time 😬 can I ask if the automatic vans are hard to get used to? I noticed the Park, drive etc is on like the wiper stalk?
