That film changed my life...
I was 13 and not in a good physical shape, family issues...when I saw that movie it was like a punch in my face. I asked my father to take me to a karate dojo...
Today I'm a federal Black Belt instructor (France) teaching kids, teenagers, adults.
A pun chi in the face changed mine

I guess the 38 people who dislike this soundtrack are either too young for full contact or too old for video games!!!

50% of the success of this movie is due to this amazing soundtrack . Masterpiece .
It definitely elevated it to another level.
And Van Damme's combat facial expressions.
Wow so happy i found this! These songs r legendary :)
keeps me coming back every year
I love this movie and yeah the music is one of the best aspects. Definitely helped make it the complete package martial arts movie in the 80s. Absolute classic
You know what makes this whole soundtrack such a masterpiece? The fact if you watched the movie and then listen to the soundtrack without the pictures, you can picture the scene as it plays. No other movie has captured that feel. This movie was truly a masterpiece. Not to mention...it was the 80s. Best time for music
I totally agree! I know this movie back to front and I play it out in my head when I listen to this score soundtrack. Amazing!👌🏾
Alex Mercer I rarely comment but i just had to say you are spot on!! I’m listening and can picture every single scene perfectly
"No other movie has captured that feel". That's a bold statement. XD
Wow, Thanks for sharing.
Your %100 there mate well said n the movie is totally out of this world come on Jean Claud Van Damm was good looking back then
I get so freaking pumped working out to this at the gym. I feel like I'm training for the ultimate death match in the Kumite. ...then I get my Nissan, drive home, eat a sandwich and take a nap.
Still love this movie. YOU ARE NEX!
natalie05 Lol!
hahahahaha you are lovely
Jajajaja 2 years later this still gets you very pumped...
Some cardio with this soundtrack 🔥🔥
Is this sound trac out there anymore other than on youtube? I used to have it on vinyl

IMO one of the best soundtracks of all time in any movie!
I will never get bored of this movie no matter how many times I watch it. My brother and I used to watch this movie together. I miss those days.
True true bro. Great movie!
One of Van Damme s better moves. Love watching it. I bought the movie several years ago

What about chord progressions & harmony?
You are the best. Thank you.

We are so weak and troubled today. This soundtrack is a reminder of that aspiration towards discipline, strength and honor in troubled times. We must all gather our strength and overcome our weaknesses right now!
💯
Right on, man! This music truly is an inspiration toward all those things. It has those feelings encoded in it!
Best era in American history was when this soundtrack was made.
Maybe just you bud......
Go!!!!!!
You can literally "listen" the whole movie here. Amazing!. 80's childhood... Te best of times!!
Exactly !
Yes, sir!
This is my favorite movie growing up as a kid. I loved everything about this movie. The soundtrack is probably one of the best soundtracks in my opinion of any movie. This move brings back so many memories.. I love this movie.
We all do here my friend.
Yesssssss
Well said. One of the best action movies made. The fight scenes, the complementary background music.... everything was just right in this movie :)
And who did not want to be like JCVD those days, i remember joining full contact academys back then, this movie also brings me back good old memories
The movie was great, but the fight scenes were fuckin' aweful! Just ... really bad choreography!
KUMITE! KUMITE! KUMITE!
God damn Michael Bishop & Paul Hertzog made some GENIUS music that should be part of all the regular 80s DJs today
Yeah brother, I custom spotify'd this on my gym playlist for the regular man - had no choice lol
Absolutely agree - pure enrichment
you might say they 'stole the night'...
those who disliked are not Japanese and not Tanakas.
This soundtrack literally takes you through the movie in sequence! "To honor you, Shidoshi."

this soundtrack is nothing short than a masterpiece..the movie as well
+Tzu Babu soundtrack, I agree. Film had some lame subplots, like the Dux romance, and Dux/Jackson friendship
srujan00 true..but its allways like this..time passes and our perception of art changes constantly..it was the eighties lool..but plot wise, characters, scenarios, filming technics, dialogue lines, soundtrack, fighting coreografies, inspirational story telling, etc etc..i think it can be considered a masterpiece.its like an album.if u listen to MJ's thriller now,it might seem a little bit cheesy..but that doesent take anything from it of being a sound masterpiece..but thats just my opinion,my friend
+Tzu Babu yeah, I know. Without those subplots the film would only be about an hour. The Dux/Jackson thing is similar to a lot of the 80s buddy/cop partners films.
srujan00 exactly..agree with you too
Bloodsport is for sure a classic. The sequels get progressively more and more garbage lol.
Man, this made me shear some tears just then. Wonder how many of us born in the 80s saw this during the decade? Saw this on vhs in 1989.
i saw this in 92 93 in VHS. Later because is when i found the vídeo clube in my country
These guys deserved the oscar for best soundtrack !
This is magic, no words can describe this masterpiece
I agree
it's very similar to Giorgio Moroder's Midnight Express Soundtrack, from 1978. That one won an Oscar, primarily because it was the first synth-based score to receive so much recognition. Bloodsport was 9 years later, but it shares the same sound
Oh 80s, How we miss you so much, Please Return 😢🙏
Saulo Demian Well that's a shame, because they were great times.
What he said
I'm still looking for a way back.
I was born in 86 so dont remember how fucking cool the 80's were. But my mam had Bloodsport on VHS, and as a kid (about 6 or 7yo) and I honestly watched it every single day for 6 years... until the tape snapped...
@@keironharvey I was born that same year, we didnt live to remember the 80s but we still saw movies, listen to music, and had all the 80s cartoons thrown at us while growing up. Maybe thats why the 80s is such a fond memory to us. In my case all my brothers were much older than me.
This soundtrack is so 80s. So awesome.

-Oh, that's great! Werner Herzog. New German Cinema.
-No, Paul Herzog. The composer of Bloodsport.
Fight to surviiiiiiiveeeeeeee... kumite, kumite
Greatest soundtrack in history. These guys made history. The film was epic, soundtrack is timeless. Pure talent went into this track. Simply amazing.
Reminds me of the Street Fighter II compositions. How'd they manage to write 12 classic themes?
So mad I can’t get this soundtrack on iTunes
If anyone finds fight to survive on Apple Music please let me know man

My favorite martial art movie of all time.
yes of course !
I can't decide between Bloodsport and Kickboxer
My favorite movie of all time!!! Not just martial arts.
me too Kevin Bennett
My favorite and only good film starring Jean-Claude Van Damme!
This is probably the most underrated movie soundtrack ever made. The flashback/training montage is some of the most unique and beautiful music ive ever heard.
Fully agree. Instantly brings me back to watching it as a kid and seeing young Frank Dux's hat bill being sliced or him being strung up in the bamboo pulleys
Sick of that word “underrated”. The only rating that matters is YOURS. You’re the one listening to it 🎧 Overrated, underrated, who gives a f**k? 🙄
4:38 "Kumite" Still remains my favorite piece of music here. It's amazing what Herzog accomplished by fusing popular music of the time -with plenty of electronic instrumentation- and eastern melodies and instrumental passages. Timeless.
yeah it works so well
This and kick-boxer soundtrack were the only ones what he creates. Interesting that he was a school professor. Beautiful soundtrack
And it keeps with the overall theme of the album and the movie. Catchy as hell too.
And when you hear the Bloodsport and Kickboxer soundtrack, you know EXACTLY what it is and who it is. Paul Herzog definitely had his own flavor for sure
"Aren't you a little young for full contact?"...

A lot of people underestimate just how much the music made this movie. I can still hear the end of "steal the night" as my VHS recorded version off TBS goes to commercial....
Say what you will about JCVD, but his roles in this and Kickboxer made me want to grow up and be a bold yet humble man. He did a good job of portraying that humble warrior persona.
Also, I used to replay the part of the movie with the "Kumite" theme over and over. Simply because the training and music got me pumped!
Dennis Osborn absolutely the true archtype of the hero
JCVD is da MAN!
Plus the Kumite song/Montage is by far one of the best.
I must be one of the oddballs that loves him in his more underrated roles like black eagle, double team, replicant... always liked him as the bad guy even.
@@sanctuaryism He was also pretty decent as a villain in The Expendables 2
Best music for training. Love this old synthi style.
u4n are you familiar with the NewRetroWave channel?? Check it out!
Yep lots of DX7 and D50 here
Yamaha DX7 is the star in this soundtrack
The scene in the movie with Stan Bush's song (38:10) is 80s nostalgia at it's finest. The cityscapes of Hong Kong hit hard. Seeing that vibrant city is impressive, but I can't help but acknowledge that people back then didn't know what "texting" was. They never took "selfies" or created online profiles. However, it's during the bus scene where he sees Chun Li in the window reflection only to turn and see an old man sitting alone. I know that old man is no longer with us, but that moment is trapped in time. I try to believe he was just a man on a bus, and not a move extra.
Can't express how much I love this soundtrack and this movie. All the leitmotifs throughout it and the way they play out. First giving you a taste of Dux's training, Tanaka's teachings, Concentration and problem solving that goes into combat, the menace of Chong Li and then Dux's determination and spirit.. Each of those themes comes out in the big finale and just spells out the fucking story so effectively I can't possibly hold the tears back. The real Frank Dux may be a total bullshit artist but I thank his wild imagination for inspiring one of the greatest and funnest movies ever with a lot of heart. I was very lucky to meet JCVD at a screening of this movie, it was incredible!
Stan Bush, Paul Delph and Paul Hertzog FOREVER

“Me ensine! Eu posso aprender!”
“Você não é japonês! Você não é um Tanaka!”
“O Senhor me ensinou a nunca seguir só um estilo! Manter a minha mente aberta!”

Say aaaaat! ... SAY AAAAAAAAT! ... maaaa teeeee.
People don't realize he could have killed Bolo. But he had mercy on his life. He did his best to leave his emotions out of the fight amidst what Bolo did to other fighters and his new friend Jackson.
In any fight you have to respect your opponent and what they are capable of doing to you as well. And you should be ready to forgive and have mercy as soon as you clearly have them beat.
If they beat you, be ready to be humbled in defeat and be open to accept every opportunity to give and receive any sign of respect. Otherwise you just accept it and keep quiet.
Real competitors step up to the challenge that they could lose, otherwise what's the point? Put up your best fight and be in it to win it. Then you will keep going further in this "fight to survive!"
This is pure badass if anything this movie has taught me was no matter how good you think you are there's always someone better than you out there.

Absolutely love this soundtrack. One of the main reasons why this movie has a special place in my heart. This soundtrack and the Rocky 4 soundtrack are definately in my top 5 soundtracks ever. The part starting at 16:08........wow
Cannot believe the awesomeness of this music!
I always found the training montage so powerful since I first saw this movie as a kid ... As a 37 year old who has finally accomplished a major goal in my life that took since I graduated college in 2006 and realized in November 2006 I was born to be something else I started a long journey that took many years to learn and re-educate myself, I even experienced homelessness for 3 months from March through June 2010 in pursuit of my dream . Now its March 2019 and I have completed my education and training for what I was truly born to do in this world and it all has gone back to that scene where JCVD completes his training and the music from that scene 14:36 - 17:37 is so redeeming for myself that its brought me back to finding this soundtrack here on TH-cam...
You sure showed them a trick or two 🤗
