@@JasonBrant My business partner Tyler auditioned unsuccessfully to play "young Ryan" in the late 90s. Years later he unknowingly ends up working at the company that edited the film. While taking out some trash one day he saw a tape labeled Ryan's Babe sitting in the dumpster. Since he auditioned for the film he recognized the name and took it home to watch. After seeing it we tracked down the director and licensed the film so we could do a DVD release and show it to the rest of the world. Before the DVD release it was essentially lost, having only been shown once on a premium cable station in Canada in 2000.
Fun facts! They filmed this without sound (to save money) and that's why the dub sounds so awkward - every line was recorded after the fact by random people. As for the history of this? It was shot in 1999 in Central Canada (not "way up there") by Ray Ramayya, PhD, and was shown on domestic TV there for a bit before vanishing into the ether. It was eventually uncovered by Tyler Baptist, who worked for a production company at the time. He'd actually auditioned for the role of Young Ryan, coincidentally enough! Discovering a screener while clearing out a box of unwanted educational VHS tapes, he took the film home and watched it... and IMMEDIATELY knew the world needed to experience it. A few years later, he co-founded Videonomicon (an independent film distributor in Canada) and unleashed the film onto the world, but even then it didn't REALLY pick up traction until RedLetterMedia watched it.
Ryan's Babe is like somebody wrote 20 different short stories and then fell down dropping the papers and the pages got all mixed together. Also, the person who wrote the short stories was insane and had a urine fetish.
The story about the friend rolling down the hill while pissing all over himself almost had me rolling off my couch while pissing myself. Outstanding episode, I’m glad you gave this movie a chance. Definitely a jewel of a SBIG movie.

I like to think that characters in Lovecraft stories have the same look of uncomprehending horror and bafflement that you all get at certain points during these sessions.
It’s also interesting watching what two different channels think about the same movie. Plus honestly this channel shows more of the movie itself than RLM does. RLM is great, but they sometimes act oblivious on purpose for comedic effect. Still wish they would upload more, but after a decade of bad movies there’s only so much out there you can do.

The shirt for this movie needs to be a missing persons poster. Ryan’s face in the middle pulled right from the DVD copy, put it in grainy b&w. Big red box around it with big block letters that say, “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN?” “If you have, SEND HIM HOME. His name is RYAN and his Babe is in Desperate Need.”

5:00 Yeah Jason that's how my face looked most of the time when I watched this film. The other time was spent laughing. You've left out my favorite line which is "Ryan! I was looking everywhere for you! I knew you'd be here!". And with the blond hooker there is a side story of somebody getting sick which is introduced AND RESOLVED in the same scene, that was pretty efficient storywriting as well. When you show it to Dave, make him take a sip everytime Ryan pees and 2 for him getting drugged ^^
I had watched the RLM episode of it beforehand though which means I didn't have as much trouble following the story as you guys did. The mistaken identity mob-boss thing at the airport is pretty obvious in hindsight but getting there your brain had spent 30 minutes in utter confusion. I remember a point watching this movie where my brain just stopped trying.
