Thanks, the best walking tour of almost any Canadian community that I can remember! I've always wanted to visit/live in Nelson BC, I'm from northeastern Ontario.

Yes, I am enjoying, Used to do temp fly in work at Nelson Hospital, We called ourselves the "Medical Mafia" We would fly in to small towns in BC and provide services that were unavailable to locals. Nelson has 5,000 people, and 50 great restaurants, great food everywhere, best Restaurant to population ratio anywhere. Hippie culture made the town what it is. Did you get to enjoy meals at the Hume Hotel? Or Coffee at oso Negro? Nelson was one of my primary Locations post retirement, but Winters are brutal there, all those hills get coated with Ice, so I chose Gibsons instead.

Be sure to stop by the book store and buy one of the books about Nelson in the 1930's written by ( my uncle ) Ken Morrow.

Looks like a typical sleepy little BC town. Wasnt Nelson the hippy capital of BC, besides Tofino surf culture, back in the day? I think I heard that somewhere.

I heard plenty people say Nelson is a hippie town ;-)

I think it's a wash between Nelson, Victoria, and salt spring island. Salt spring has their own currency. THAT'S hippie.

It used to be hippie. Now it gentrification hipsters and meth heads.

I enjoyed the tour as it has been so very long since I was in Nelson and I don't remember anything to be honest, lol. I think long ago there were a lot of hippies that settled around there and if I'm not mistaken there is a very big creative community there.

Still a big creative community from what I see. 3 Books stores, video store, many Yoga studios etc

@@SouthAfricansinVancouver Yes those are creative endeavours but I actually meant craftspeople. People who make art with their hands: pottery, carving, weaving. That sort of thing. I think the entire region there has a lot of those types of people and also in the gulf islands which attracted hippies and creatives too. These are generalizations of course.

Was it easy to migrate to Canada. I have a job where I can work remote so wouldn’t mind living there while working remote.

Im from Nelson, over 50 years. I moved away 6 months ago because its been over run by urban refugees . The hippies are gone and drug addicts /run rampant. I wish people from big cities would stop post videos like this. It ruined a nice place to live.

Meh. Things change. As a local, Nelson has in many ways gotten better. Yeah, home prices are gonzo, like every where. Addiction is out in the open, like every where. The town is more diverse than when I moved here 25 years ago. Better restaurants. More educational opportunities. Improved recreating facilities - trails, community complexes, local craigs. The local ski hill has, overall, improved. More diverse points of view. You know, better, (not immune to larger tends and not perfect).

I had COVID so I think it is the "Long COVID" - Definitely has nothing to do with too much beer and too little exercise...
