"just some cliffs you can fall off and die" hahaha sounds like a wonderful trail. no those views are gorgeous, looks like lots of fun. hope Sandi's getting better!! and good luck tomorrow!
I love you and Sandi's easy day runs. You always have a wide smile. Beautiful views! One day well all make it to CO because of you. Speedy recovery for Sandi! - JD
Hi there, it's your friend from cache valley again. That trail looks sweet! But sketchy too. Holy crap man. I've been running a lot more trails lately and it's partly because of you. Good luck at speedgoat!
TRAINING TALK: I'd love to hear more about what blood checks you got done and what medical checks in general someone running regularly should be getting done/keeping an eye out for. Thanks, Graeme (Sydney)
Great video. I did in fact come down that trail in the dark while pacing at Hardrock this year. Luckily, the sun was rising so we had a bit better light towards the end. (But we were sleepy at the time as well.) Also, the pronunciation of that town would be more like "you ray" but without a gap and a slight emphasis on the "you" part. (I grew up just a few miles down the road.)
Sage have you ever had a serious injury or had to take an extended break from running. If so how did you 1.Stay motivated 2 .What sort of plan did you follow when you were able to run again. Thanks so much for all the great training talks you have really helped me improve my running.
Hey Sage, Could you maybe elaborate on your race gear for ultras? Like which Hoka shoe do you pick for what terrain? Or what brand is your fuel bag from and why is that your preferred choice? I am running my first 50km race next weekend and I was mainly inspired by you. So keep it up Sage!!
TRAINING TALK SUGGESTION How pros are able to race with so little? Usually a handheld or two. How to get enough fueling and hydration that way. Aid station strategy or routine.
Tom McGrath It depends a lot on the distance you are training for. I am training for half marathons and usually if I have a race coming up all my runs are between 30-45 min at easy pace. I do a tempo workout 4 days out consisting of mile repeats. I built my own training program from reading Jack Daniels book.
Sage is running very hilly runs almost daily. Those still fatigue his legs day after day, so despite the "easy" pace/effort, the hills still give each run some difficulty. In addition, Sage is training for a 100 mile race, so there is almost no need to do quality workouts, such as tempos and intervals, very often, because 100 mile race pace is not very fast, so quality workouts are not necessary. When he trains for shorter races, such as the marathon, his training typically consists of more fast intervals and tempo runs with less easier runs.
HeroeSnedlugg ah, ok, I didn't recognize the colors from the last video. when sage drinks beer, sometimes I will join him. at home by myself of course lol. I'd like to get a pair of Hoka Speedgoats, they look really burly.
Blimey my heart was in my mouth, i was shouting at the screen 'watch where your going' and 'stop looking at the camera, your going to die' .Looks seriously dangerous with loose stone and wet.
do you have any idea how badly an american needs to win that race? im pretty sure sage could do it,but he will have to bring some true americana to lay it down!

Sage won 2015 Speedgoat 50K!! Congratulations!!
What an incredible view. On my easy run yesterday I encountered an endless parade of traffic lights, bus stops, and car exhaust. Fml
Love that cutting into the rock face you were running along. Great !!

Hey Sage, do u do any leg work out to make u have strong legs to run? Is that even necessary to do leg work out if u run a lot?
Could you do a video on how to taper a week before a distance race please?
Tom McGrath It depends a lot on the distance you are training for. I am training for half marathons and usually if I have a race coming up all my runs are between 30-45 min at easy pace. Sage: are the Hoka's Clifton v2 good for trail running? Thanks for all your videos!
Yes
thanks
How comes you do alot of days (easy) I would of thought breaks between for quality workouts? Somebody help please.

Marius Jacobsen The song title is in the credits as the photo's roll at the end.
