Absolutely love the s class.For an old car there are still features on it that still are not on 2019 cars.boggles the mind really how basic a modern car is.But most people still only see the new reg.
This is true Ian, there's so many good cars that we dismiss because they are old.
@@BobFlavinVideo I dont dismiss old cars like the s class or say the 7 series,I love them but the world has moved on a lot since then and I'm more informed and educated about ice and there pollution so for that sole reason I could not hand on heart buy a car that pumps out toxic gases.
@@ianpurcell7266 but you would accept the electronic charging your car comes from super polluting sources or that the batteries made for the cars pollutes so much and they have to be buried after their lifetime. It is well proven both are equally bad for the environment in their own way.
$1000 to replace 1 shock, that's S class, but it is indeed a nice car if you don't have to replace anything
@@charles-davidberube1174 I have just seen the report about amnesty international asking car manufacturers to come clean about there electric cars and how the batteries are produced,which all comes back to children working in holes in the ground to get the raw material needed for the batteries Inc those used in mobile phones. I just dont know anymore.Humans are so primitive really.It would be better if the world was wiped out and let's start again because we made a balls of it.

I work at Brabus and we have every modern S-Class your can imagine. No matter if its a new "Maybach" or S65 or whatever. But quality wise nothing comes close to the original Maybach. The build quality is just phenomenal, the attention to detail is incredible and everything is just so smooth and perfectly built. Cant even compare it to modern luxury cars. THIS car was way ahead of its time in my opinion. and keep in mind it was based on the W220.
I still have mine and it runs like a dream. Just take care of it when youre supposed to and you wont go wrong.

I have 2 S class Mercedes, one is a 2017 S500 and the other is a 2000 S500 and I love both of them they’re such great cars and built to last

People forget that the Nissan Primera from 2002 had a reversing camera and radar guided cruise control. But it's always fun to marvel at the innovative tech of any car. Thank you for a great video, looks like the both of you had a ton of fun recording it :)!
Problem is, they were 2 years to late though, but it always fun to watch the new comers produce similar products. Mercedes Benz Distronics came out far before Nissan. This was on a 2000 S500. :)

@@morecoffee998 This is a Mercedes Benz video and not a Nissan Primera one. And it's also a safe bet to say the 2000 Mercedes Benz cost far more than a 2002 Nissan Primera. The problem is you stated that the 2002 Nissan Primera had ACC and that's fine, but it was not first. A 1999/2000 Mercedes Benz was first. (Cost is irrelevant in this case) The video premise is can a 12 year old S Class make it today, when in reality a 1999/2000 S Class is still viable today. Just my two cents on the matter....

Great stuff, loved it, that’s proper real world down to earth guys talking about real cars we all can afford. Although you never touched how much it would cost to keep that beast on the road (tax, insurance, fuel and repair bills). 2006 seems like an age ago but my 06 Prius could park it self reverse and parallel!

1998 S600 already had power rear head rests, so for a 06 its a must. Great vid
I've been told that the leather stitching on upper-segment Mercedes vehicles, and prob most German upper-segment vehicles, is made by a small private company in Rosenheim owned by an elder couple and yes; I believe it is hand stitched. Anyways: I'll hit the bell, don't disappoint me

Your best best video EVER Bob (excluding with Sinead). Your friend is VERY sound & this reflects well on yourself but I don't agree with him on BMW's ...not one to hold a grudge, but I NEVER forgave my new 5 for the wiper motor burning out as I left Dublin on a rainy trip to Galway.
