Always take it to a Mercedes specialist. It doesn't have to be a franchised dealer, I'm sure there are independent garages that specialises in servicing Mercedes. These cars are far too complex for anyone not trained in working with Mercedes.

So how did the story end? Did you manage to fix the seat and the paint? The clock? Or did you sell it?

I am so sorry, but you and that lovely car just do not look good together. I don't think it's you but I think that seat really does not approve of skinny jeans!
Jokes aside I love the car.

thanks for the update. and your right about the car, even at that price and with it's gremlins. there is something about the ride comfort with S Class. I had a 1995 W140 S320 and even though it was a nightmare with repairs (ultimately the reason why I had to get rid of it) it is still by far the best car I have ever driven. But to anyone wanting to buy one of these cars, make sure you know a honest mechanic who actually knows the car.

Doesn't sound too terrifying all in. I'm curious to know how much it'll cost to get everything done.

    Hello Mate,
    I enjoyed watching this video…
I do own a Mercedes S320 in Aberdeen, Scotland and I must say it is a very luxurious and comfortable car.
Anyway, in order to set the clock correctly, you will need to slot the key in, then turn it to the 2nd position which powers up the dashboard. Then quickly set the clock to the correct time (as you demonstrated) within 30 seconds. Importantly, you MUST follow this procedure first thing in the morning or after you must have turned off your engine for a couple of hours. This is to ensure your car is not connected to the satellite. Thus, you need to follow this procedure before your car radio/computer connects to Satellite.
Please note that the clock drifts after a couple of days, so you will repeat this process a couple of times during your car ownership…
    Hope this helps…
    Good Luck!!!

Have you thought about opening the door panel and just unhooking the seat module for now? I can't imagine having to drive like that. Although it makes for an amusing video

I have a c216 500 and it looks like i finally managed to get the ABS/ESP no function sorted. Mine needed a whole ABS control unit repair in the end(a chip got replaced) but here is a tip: if you ever get the message again try to replace the wheelspeed sensor cabels(each wheel has one, a workshop should be able to tell which one is giving false data) first. Its a 10 eur/piece and might save you some money and trouble.

I had a 07 cls which is like a 2door version of this car, and at the age they are you need to br ready to spend a Lil bit getting it to perfect health best part most jobs can be done in the Garage without special tool, mine had the same brake fault and it was the module next to the transmission failed and a bunch of normal wear tear

Despite all the electrical gremlins, you're right it's such a lot of car for the money..... but always have a contingency fund... "no warning message.... yet". Great update again. Is that red Saab 900 convertible in the background one of yours as well?

Just goes to show how bad Mercedes are getting,,, cars with these mileage shouldn't be having such issues

Mine was a delight to drive, but came up with amazingly varied electronic problems, which sometimes seemed to cure themselves, but mostly required a specialist. After many thousands in repairs, some problem required the front passenger seat removed to access electronics in the floor, and , lo and behold, two inches of water!! The car may have been in a flood, but more likely is that the drains in front of the windscreen had backed up and overflowed into the foot well. Large hoppers catch the water, but they lead to pencil thin tubes which are easily blocked.
A mass of modules and wiring in this wet floor were corroding and giving intermittent faults . The wiring looms were themselves corroding. I had to scrap this beautiful car!

the w220 gets criticism but I found it faultless compared to my w221 experience

I was in the same boat as you around about the same time. A £2650 2008 S320 CDI with a lot of issues which a new battery fixed. Luckily for me my electronic handbrake works. However I had an engine management light to sort out which wasabout £200 to sort. But 4 months down the line i'm still very happy and I got it through an MOT with no advisories :) P.s love seeing how much progress you've made on your cheap S Class

The w221 is indeed the best luxury car money can buy after taking into consideration all the depreciation that had taken its toll, it is actually a steal! I bought mine early this year after i sold off my w140. My car is a 2007 s350 l. Of course it had the usual electrical gremlins like check abs, check tyre pressure, service overdue warning eventhough i had changed all the fluids of the car and fully serviced it. But nothing a good Mercedes mechanic cannot fix. Hence for those of you who are thinking getting one, go ahead and buy it. It is the best luxury car money can buy at the moment!:)
