- Earlier this year, Kanye West and Sway made headlines when Ye proclaimed that he gave Sway his first TV. For the first time since the incident in March, the two hip hop heads talk in person.
Their interview began with Sway expressing his appreciation for Kanye's Yeezus tour.
"My demo is the Yeezus tour." Says Ye. "Pure creativity... The Yeezus tour is more of a film, or broadway or play idea, Watch the Throne is more of a Rap idea."
Ye then began to discuss his production inspiration from greats like Diamond D & Showbiz.
From discussions of DONDA, to fashion, to the status of his Red Octobers, West passionately says...
"I am the #1 most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh. Walt Disney. Nike. Google... Do you want to marginalize me until I am out my moment?"
Sway's next question sparked excitement and passion from Kanye.
"Why don't you empower yourself, and don't need them, & do it yourself?" Asked Sway.
"You ain't got the answers Sway!" Shouts Ye. "You ain't spent 13 million dollars of your own money trying to empower yourself!"
After the quick heated conversation, they both brought their talk back to music. Why was Pusha T & Big Sean not on the tour? Why did he mention that Nicki Minaj had the best verse on Monster?

These interviews are like his Fb.) Secondly, people from his own community, his original roots, a lot of rap fans are calling him gay for liking fashion, and that upsets him. And finally music-wise, even though he's a hugely popular artist, he still doesn't feel like he has any real control over it. It's the suits that are writing the checks. He specifically mentions Lucian Grainge, a quick google search tells me that guy is one of the highest-ranking music executives today. Kanye's reached a glass ceiling with his sucess and he can't seem to break through it. When he talks about race, his specific problems with fashion might not seem like a big deal to most, but it reflects the wider issues of systemic racism. Sure his ego is unappealing to many, and you can brush him off as an asshole, but that doesn't mean there aren't racial and class barriers at play. His highly emotional reactions have deep rooted implications about society and the entertainment industry in particular.

Let me explain what's going on with Kanye. He feels completely hoodwinked by the business arrangement he actually agreed to. Reason being he sacrificed his mother to get into the 20m club, however his arrogance (unlike Pharrell who is very humble) has been the number one source of his stagnation. The paymasters who he agreed to succumb to, when he had nothing, he now believes he is able to surpass. Sway doesn't understand why he needs them but that is the real reason. They are is handlers but he is now not happy with that arrangement hence the continuous 'slave' remarks. In terms of independently moving forward, because of his distrust in delegation, it's not a money issue it's a management issue. He would need 3 Kanye's to do it in his eyes. Keep making music to stay relevant whilst delving in the fashion industry. He's trying to conquer an industry overnight that has been around for 150 years. Not possible. Particularly impossible if you have already signed your life away to the paymasters.

What Kanye is saying in a nutshell is that ppl want to put him in a box. He wanted to rap they told him to stick to beats. He did shoes for Danda & Nike but they wouldn't give him a shoe deal despite the fact that the shoes he designed were massively successful.
