Had to watch this again after hearing Kanye say that Sway DID in fact have the answers. I totally understand Kanye's perspective. Legendary interview but even more so an EPIC display of character, compassion & humility. Much RESPECT!
Sways a real person man, mad respect, been watching his freestyle shows for years now as well as interviews and I always find myself tuning in closer when he speaks, he's mature and intellectual and hes not narrow minded, he's composed but stands up for himself at the same time, good breed of human right there

Cam'sJungleAquaria nah man he is crazy. listen to him.. if you tell me you followed everything he said here you're basically telling me that you're crazy as well lol
He sounds more fluent in his speaking and is much more able to form a cohesive thought than he is now. Maybe it’s just me, but something seemed different about this interview. I tried to sit through the piers Morgan interview with him but I couldn’t follow along with hardly anything he said.
@@jerryeqRevisited and I agree. Ever since 05, This was back when Kanye could just drop a quote imo, he was talking and making headlines by truly being himself.. In recent years it seems he just finally realized how much controversy he can stir up and started babbling lame quotes and statements for headlines.
Facts! Ye's greatest triumph and greatest flaw is his passion and the emotion that fuels him, and this can come out in terrible ways, but Sway is fr a legend for being so kind and such a warm voice in front of that.
Damn near 2 years later and: Kanye -received the Adidas joint venture -Yeezys were successful -Adidas fashion show was most watched -bought $20m home, and the neighbor's house -wife is making stupid money from a smartphone game -wife has had multiple covers -etc, etc, etc etc. Sway -we still don't know WTF that clothing line is called. I think it's safe to say who got the answers.
PunchingMegaTree yeah, that opinion kinda only means something when you have your own accomplishments. I'm just sayin', if you at least one music award, I won't even say you have to have a Grammy. Hell, if you have a cool T-shirt design, I'll toss you a point. Well?
PunchingMegaTree for a regular guy, I make pretty decent bread. My pen work is pretty nice too. However, the point was that, 2 years ago Sway was tryna tell 'Ye how to go about establishing his shit. The point: money talked, bull shit don't have the answers. 'Ye did exactly what he said he was. I still don't know the name of Sway's line. You didn't answer my question though. The difference between me and you is I made a comparison. You just talkin shit for the sake of talkin shit. So what do you do again?
PunchingMegaTree just a couple cars, house, apartment in the city. Nothing major. Where I live you'd need more than a few million to own acres anywhere. Of course if I wanted to live in the sticks I could do the same. But I don't. Rural areas are usually not so black guy friendly. However, my question was more so about what you did that was cool. Engineers are necessary and all, but that's boring. What artist skills do you have? You're criticizing someone else's idea of art, so what do you do that's artistic? Kanye West is not a electrical engineer. I don't give AF about how well he knows a circuit board. Neither does Sway. It's about the art bro. So like I asked at first, what do you do that compares to anything artistic? I don't rap, but I write and draw. Sooo, if you're criticizing art, are you artistic?
PunchingMegaTree I just played classical piano. Nothing special. But, I work too much to keep up that hobby, so I write short stories and draw to get my art fix. I give you props tho. Talking shit is only acceptable if you have grounds, so I'll tip my hat.
vinniboxer are you guys really measuring dicks on the internet, come on gus you both have done well for yourselves, theres no sense in degrading yourselves for the sake of an argument. Just let it go you both have your own opinions respect that and move on.

Genuinely disappointing compared to Collage dropout Kanye. He's talking about splitting his time between music, clothing and runway shows in Paris while he should be worried about what made him famous in the first place.
Sometimes it takes time for people to come around. Kanye is always evolving and has the weight of the world pressure and scrutiny he carries. God bless him.
Bless you for having that insight. Most people can't see it, which is why Kanye's frustrated. It's like talking to a wall. He's maturing and gaining a better handle on it.
+Kush_Breeze it's his mother man. since her death, this man hasn't been the same. even one of his famous producers (and best friend) cut ties with him, saying this dude just has lost his mind and needs professional help.
When I hear the songs " I wonder " , " The good Life " , " Can't tell me nothin' " , " American boy ft. Kanye West needs a big ole country hug. I understand. His mother has passed away, he's married to a woman who can forever be seen online, getting plowed and giving head to another man, and I'm sure his profession makes it so he rarely gets sleep. But we mustn't be mean and rude to our fellow human being just because we go through adversity in life. I'd like to ask all of you good people to give him a break and show him that we will continue to love him and all who share this planet with us unconditionally. And together , one act of kindness at a time we will tame the savageness of man and make this world completely peaceful. [Zero murders a year] Thank you for your time. I love you all.

As I just said, it's a crock of shit and is extraordinarily disrespectful to those who actually were in chains...
kanye was right all along. if u want to be successful in fashion u need to have proper and systematic production of a clothing/shoe. u cant just randomly find a clothing making factory and start making a product by urself. u need to find a brand that has been in the industry for a long time and is well known so that the people recognise the brand. u need connection with people in the industry so that u save alot of time and unnecessary effort that u might faced during the process.
This interview is a definitive moment in Hip Hop and also music history. Kanye and Sway had a True moment in LIFE. And I mean Life as in learning and achieving new frontiers. They both climbed the mountain of ego and pride, as men and as Black Men in America. So fragile and so human, to the point of being humble. They both had to balance their own pride and agenda, as well their own image to bring this Classic Interview to Life. Hip Hop Lives in 2024
Kanye is well known for speaking to the crowd/the people when he's in interviews. He's got a message that he feels people don't understand, so every interview is a chance to get maybe a few more people to connect with it.
He doesn't look sway or Charlemagne in their eyes either. Dude was obviously raised by his mother. Probably didn't have a father. Fathers teach young boys how to be men and talk to other men.
You can tell Kanye is one of those people who when he rings you, you just know he won't stop talking. Whilst you'll be sitting there on the phone to him saying 'yeah' whilst he rambles on lol
Umesh Bx He is like a kid, he is dumb, but he wants to get paid. He pretends to be an asshole. It is better to be an asshole than to be perceived as an idiot. His marketing team got shit ridiculous twisted.
I will never forget this interview not only because it’s ye but because there was a snowstorm in New York, when this interview was out, and my father was alive, classic interview classic day 🙏🏼👑🕊️

Looking back at this interview. When you listen to Kanye he's actually shedding alot of light on the world they live in & the game. Yet people was 'distracted by the narrative & outrage moment" makes sense were human. But truthfully listen to this closer. #WaterDeeperThanWeKnow
I agree. Like he is saying they will take your shit and not let you in. Sway didn’t listen and then he had to restate the barriers to entry. There is a major risk losing millions vs thousands. Also they’ll take your idea and popularize it. They have already perfected it(manufacturing&distribution) and you have to go through them because they have the connections.
Im watching this interview because I’m experiencing this, and everyone always thought him and his ideas were crazy and now he’s the wealthiest black man in the world at 6.6billion. And I’m trying to trace his come up and thoughts. This interview is so much more insightful than most people can understand
Enjoyed the interview,it has enlightened me so much, the way I am able to understand Kanye and what he is feeling, he seem to be fair in crediting peoole, who have inspired him and his endeavies.
It's like 90% of yall commenting didn't even watch the interview. Kanye is telling you exactly why he's frustrated from all the closed doors in new ventures he's trying start and surprising rejection from hip hop that is/was supposed to be a safe place for a rapper like him. Imagine storming outta your parents house to explore the world, you try shit, spend and lose a lot of your money, you return home a prodigal son and you get rejected and ridiculed outright by your own parents. You would be mad too! Lol Much respect Kanye!
Yeah exactly. I get he's mad. I get why he talks about New Slaves.. being so impactful and not being able to close deals with these designers because you are not relevant right now. He basically needs to make new music for promotion to make the deals.. Thats like being held down..
Doesn't give him the right to yell at sway.. sway did nothing wrong he was just being a host and asking questions. I don't give a shit if kanye DID have a reason to be mad. U don't insult ur host and "homie" for nothin.. Respect him all u want I think he should take fuckin anger classes. Maybe then he could calmly explain what's on his mind. Real talk no disrespect.
iPartyHardcore Well he married a gold digger. Walked himself into a hole when he said he was the greatest rapper of all time.Believes that he could be Jesus. . It really seems like he did all of this to himself.
GETit DONE A Gold Digger? Last time I checked Kim was worth 30 million. She has her own money. Was she suppose to marry some broke dude that just wanted her for her money? That's like saying Jay-Z married a gold digger you idiot. You make absolutely no fucking sense.
tyrikmoney Kim is a gold digger or at the very least a user. You forget how she made her money. By selling the rights to her sex tape originally. Then she got her tv show by some miracle. Then she made 17 million by selling the rights to her wedding stuff to that same show. The wedding for the marriage that lasted 72 days. I'm pretty sue Kim doesn't do anything that she can't profit from
Kanye answered Sways question already once before (12:45 ) so when Sway asked again why he couldn’t just do it himself, Ye took it as Sway giving advice, just in question form and snapped. (17:20)
Close. On someone's plight, you can say the simple answer is to "escape the holocaust" "leave american slave lands" "why can't you not be a celebrity anymore" "dont trust the nice pilgrims" ect
You got the point that SWAY and the whole world missed the first time. I waited, on purpose, to watch this interview and understood immediately why it went left.
I can’t stop listening to this interview. There were very inspirational and insightful moments. However, at the end of the day this was pure entertainment. Just hilarious from middle to end.
I've been watching these interviews and it seems like people aren't getting his point. Everyone's telling Kanye "you don't have to deal with these corporations" or "you're not a slave you can do whatever you want", but Kanye's talking about the bigger picture because he's seen it. He might be rich but he knows the way the world works is going to hold you back no matter who you are unless you're at the very top. Us regular folk don't see it as he does because unlike us he has access to that level of society and he's seen the limitations they've put on the rest of society.
jesus christ can you not see the flaw in your argument. "us regular folk dont see it..." so how do you know he sees "the bigger picture" if youre regular folk. how do you know what he is talking about if you say only he understands. its like when people try to say what they think god thinks, its a blatant contradiction. furthermore, please explain to me why he denounces the corporations but still wants a deal with them? that is clearly a definition
It is foolish to try and build with your enemy, because they will hold you back. So don't try and merge or even stay partners with them knowing this, that is insane. If Kanye is serious about this he needs to build the factories himself, hire the middle men himself, and advertise himself and you can pay people to do that. Its called starting from nothing, not from the ground, from nothing. In many cases with up and coming artist, all they had was their memory for their rhymes, then when they conjoured up enough money bought a pencil and paper for their verses. They recorded in their moms basement with crappy, sometimes broken and nigga riged, equipment; cassette tapes and shit they had to go to the library to find out how to record on them, use old record players and shit, burned CDs using WMP and Hell sold Cds and cassettes from the trunk of their car and got the money that way, Funk Volume does the same thing and they have their own label now, they still have relevance and still getting money. Problem with Kanye is he dosent have enough patience. He wants to come right out on-top; sadly, for a black man in this country it dosent work that way and he's finding it out the hard way. He has forgotten how to go from nothing because he is so used to having paper and immediate satifaction. Merchandising yourself in the hood its called hustling and he dosent know how to do it. Ignorant of the rules of war because everything he has was given so he knows nothing about how to deal with struggle, so goes back to his security with his masters, textbook house nigga syndrome. "...ran so far from the streets that you can't come back, you trippin with nowhere to unpack, forgot that.." Common - 6th Sense. He dosen't know how to strategize. Dr. Umar Johnson says," If a black man wants to truely have anything he must own it." Thats how its gonna have to go because he keeps forgetting one important simple fact, that he is behind enemy lines. Higher Learning.
CoveFashion_za but god doesnt speak... kanye did, and if you listened to what he was saying THE WHOLE TIME, he wants a deal with them because he knows you need a certain level of production and they provide it. all the money that he has he still needs them because they have the KNOWLEDGE of how to do it and how to do it well, while he doesn't. people constantly picking and choosing what they hear and using it in these bullshit arguments... your too easy to prove wrong
It’s easy to judge a person that is susceptible to outbursts... but I genuinely see Kanye as having pushed himself really hard to this point. And learned a lot. And juggle a. Lot. So outbursts happen... especially when people question you... regardless of intent, the pressure begins to show. He dreams hella big. He has hella passion.
19:29 "we're all slaves" 20:00 "this (arguing) is exactly what would happen during the french revolution. this is exactly what would happen, i'm sure, in some arguments with harriet tubman" 20:20 explains the monopolization of the music industry... well... media in general... 21:22 explains how a music mogul maintains his wealth and success 23:23 explains the overwhelming pressure of societal outlook when faced with the ability to influence a nation. Sway had tunnel vision after the outburst first they'll call you crazy... then they'll call you a genius this man is misunderstood
Yep. And its not just the industry hes talking about it's the fact that in these global markets the free market no longer exists. They own everybody. What we are told is that if we work hard enough and have enough talent we can make it to the very top. Kanye did this but got towards the top and found that corruption and control prevent people from continuing on. Truly insightful.
Ray Bandz the best he can do is infiltrate as far a possible....the time he talking about was fast tracked by his partnership with Adidas..what he did in like 3/4 years would have took 10-20 years.. his impact/influence would have weakened by the time he got to the most recent releases
Ray Bandz why can’t you accept that Kanye acted ridiculous and that’s why sway said what he did. You can be as smart as you want but getting mad at that shit is immature
That's the material world, own your own mind. Wealth comes, ego will make you want to be on top of everything, make a billion dollars that will feed you and your family for generations...
I WILL ATTEMPT TO EXPLAIN KANYE WEST. For the people that don't get it, I think Kanye ends up explaining himself pretty throughly, You just have to know how to read people. Of course he's immensely egotistical, but all he wants is acceptance into a fashion elite that won't take him. (Now that's his personal problem, and he's publicly complaining, but we all flock to twitter and Facebook and our BFFs when we have a bad day at school or get fired, or have our life crises. These interviews are like his Fb.) Secondly, people from his own community, his original roots, a lot of rap fans are calling him gay for liking fashion, and that upsets him. And finally music-wise, even though he's a hugely popular artist, he still doesn't feel like he has any real control over it. It's the suits that are writing the checks. He specifically mentions Lucian Grainge, a quick google search tells me that guy is one of the highest-ranking music executives today. Kanye's reached a glass ceiling with his sucess and he can't seem to break through it. When he talks about race, his specific problems with fashion might not seem like a big deal to most, but it reflects the wider issues of systemic racism. Sure his ego is unappealing to many, and you can brush him off as an asshole, but that doesn't mean there aren't racial and class barriers at play. His highly emotional reactions have deep rooted implications about society and the entertainment industry in particular.
This was terrific and very interesting. 2 strong personalities clashed for a moment but they were able to reel it back in. This shit made me subscribe. Look Kanye is a very passionate person and he has been wronged a lot. He probably felt criticized but Sway did an outstanding job of bringing Kanye back into a comfortable place and Kanye humbled himself and shared his woes. The industry people try to trick black, high profile people right back out of their money with bad investments or other ways. That was real love Sway showed and that heat brought very valuable info out of Kanye and then he explained beautifully.
I absolutely love kanye but, I actually feel sorry for him. It's very evident that when his mother passed, he truly lost himself. I think his attitude now is more mental and not egotistical.
***** cry you a river is what I WONT do however LIKE I SAID everyone deals with death in a different way. I'm not excusing him for his actions but again, who are you or anyone to say everyone's mom dies. You may deal with it in a different way than others.
I don't understand you all. You all have the nerve to diss this man just because he's angry about losing his own money that he has EARNED, while half of you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're".
Sometimes I feel like Kanye. Lash out on people that try to go against me, think I am the best person in the world. Kanyes mind is very crippled, that's probably why he couldn't talk to sway face to face.

And look at that; Sway really had the answers
Damn near 2 years later and:
Kanye
-received the Adidas joint venture
-Yeezys were successful
-Adidas fashion show was most watched
-bought $20m home, and the neighbor's house
-wife is making stupid money from a smartphone game
-wife has had multiple covers
-etc, etc, etc etc.
Sway
-we still don't know WTF that clothing line is called.

I'd like to ask all of you good people to give him a break and show him that we will continue to love him and all who share this planet with us unconditionally. kanye was right all along. if u want to be successful in fashion u need to have proper and systematic production of a clothing/shoe. u cant just randomly find a clothing making factory and start making a product by urself. u need to find a brand that has been in the industry for a long time and is well known so that the people recognise the brand. u need connection with people in the industry so that u save alot of time and unnecessary effort that u might faced during the process.

Imagine storming outta your parents house to explore the world, you try shit, spend and lose a lot of your money, you return home a prodigal son and you get rejected and ridiculed outright by your own parents. Much respect Kanye!
That being said, Kanye needs to go back and get mentored from Jay on how to "move in a room full of vultures"... Like Jay did coming up.

Sway,Such a Human being man,Much love and respect for Sway
I can’t stop listening to this interview. There were very inspirational and insightful moments. However, at the end of the day this was pure entertainment. Just hilarious from middle to end.
I've been watching these interviews and it seems like people aren't getting his point. Everyone's telling Kanye "you don't have to deal with these corporations" or "you're not a slave you can do whatever you want", but Kanye's talking about the bigger picture because he's seen it. He might be rich but he knows the way the world works is going to hold you back no matter who you are unless you're at the very top. Us regular folk don't see it as he does because unlike us he has access to that level of society and he's seen the limitations they've put on the rest of society.
so tru these dumb ass people on youtube cant read between the lines so brainwashed kanye telling everybody whats going on
Thank god finally someone gets it
jesus christ can you not see the flaw in your argument.
2021 Kanye is worth $6.6Billion, I am here for that, His Genius Brain.
Same, I been connected with his thoughts but I’m trying to back track his path
@@emperialdrake8029 What?
Goes to show how dumb his fans are.
@@emperialdrake8029 I feel that connection too, the outside world (those who are not connected) won't understand what we're talking about.

This aged well. I’d seen it a long time ago and I decided to come back and revisit it … he made some very key points relevant to today.
what's the name of your clothing line we don't know. 😂😂😂 that was cold.
Cold..I have no idea what 13 million did. I have no idea what kayne's line is called.
BUT was true
Craziest thing about this is that... Kanye is actually right
he made a great analogy with the nicki minaj verse, I think people would continue to understand his problems better if he kept communicating like that
That first “you ain’t got the answers” was completely left field lmfao
talk shit all you want. Kanye is in a position that NO ONE understands
19:29 "we're all slaves"
20:00 "this (arguing) is exactly what would happen during the french revolution. this is exactly what would happen, i'm sure, in some arguments with harriet tubman"
20:20 explains the monopolization of the music industry... well... media in general...
21:22 explains how a music mogul maintains his wealth and success
23:23 explains the overwhelming pressure of societal outlook when faced with the ability to influence a nation.
Sway had tunnel vision after the outburst
first they'll call you crazy... then they'll call you a genius
this man is misunderstood
0:00 Shut The Hell Up
That's the material world, own your own mind.
Sway was right all along
Sway got all the answers under his hat.
Hahaha
looooooooooooool
This was terrific and very interesting. 2 strong personalities clashed for a moment but they were able to reel it back in. This shit made me subscribe. Look Kanye is a very passionate person and he has been wronged a lot. He probably felt criticized but Sway did an outstanding job of bringing Kanye back into a comfortable place and Kanye humbled himself and shared his woes. The industry people try to trick black, high profile people right back out of their money with bad investments or other ways. That was real love Sway showed and that heat brought very valuable info out of Kanye and then he explained beautifully.
Kanye starts spazzing out at 16:40 for those of you looking for it.
My nigga! (Denzel voice)
thx brah
👌
"I was out here spazzin now y'all get the message!!"
+brian training day😂😂
YOU GOT THE ANSWERS, SWAY!!!
All of them
I absolutely love kanye but, I actually feel sorry for him. It's very evident that when his mother passed, he truly lost himself. I think his attitude now is more mental and not egotistical.
And that makes him be an asshole all his life? Fuck outta here
Juan Montoya Have you ever lost a parent??? If not you have no room to speak!
I understand that, bless him and his mother, but that's no excuse to got into basically someone's house. And disrespect like Tf?
Well Kanye sure looks strong and appreciating life with sway
***** cry you a river is what I WONT do however LIKE I SAID everyone deals with death in a different way. I'm not excusing him for his actions but again, who are you or anyone to say everyone's mom dies. You may deal with it in a different way than others.
I don't understand you all. You all have the nerve to diss this man just because he's angry about losing his own money that he has EARNED, while half of you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're".
I truly feel sorry for Kanye. All the fame and fortune yet inside his mind is chaos and tornadoes. I hope one day he can find peace.
Sometimes I feel like Kanye. Lash out on people that try to go against me, think I am the best person in the world. Kanyes mind is very crippled, that's probably why he couldn't talk to sway face to face.
+jalen Matthews nah kanye is just ungrateful
+TriggAndSides na you just dont understand. ungratefulness isnt pulling heavy investments hes not even sure are going to be positive finances.
ANOTHA ONE he can always drop another album and get stacks of money if he doesn't get positive finances
Eight years down the line, and Sway had the answers all along. I can imagine Sway's look at the moment with a choke of "I told you, Bro" moment. 😆😆
