Why Did Cruise Line Shut Down Ben and David for Filming - My View!

- 2 popular youtubers Ben and David were on a cruise by the company MSC but were told to stop filming. Admittedly they were in the more private and exclusive MSC 'Yacht Club' area but nevertheless, were MSC right in stopping them? And what happens now? Here's my views on the situation.

Jeez, that's a great collection of cruises and memories. Lucky you. And yes, found em to be pretty good. But only been on the 1 cruise so far so nothing to compare. Our 1st cruise was great however! Thank you.

Really enjoyed watching you on your cruise john......as for Ben and David i think they've got a bit too big for their boots. Used to watch them in the early days but now that their popularity has risen so has their ego.....they absolutely trashed the p&o ship Arvia which was completely undeserved as me and my wife loved it......Anyway John Can't wait to watch you on another cruise and I'll keep watching you in your pub.
Nice sensible comment. The amount of freebies they get I'm surprised at some of their comments. I'd never heard of them til this fiasco. And as I said in my video, you let one couple film with camera and gimbal, they'll all be doing it. Can you imagine? I just hope they've not spoilt it for us little channels! I'll stick to my little vlogs. Cheers mate.

MSC are only apologising because this has gone global...us mere mortals if we complain dont even get a reply...
that said, and i like ben and davids frank and somewhat funny vlogs, there is a glut of vloggers now and literally every trip and evry day of every trip they are out there filming...perhaps its time to only allow invited vloggers, although where do they draw the line...do they stop normal people filming their holidays? difficult to manage id say
Yeah, agree. There's me thinking I wouldn't be happy with a camera in my face, but doing it myself! But, have you watched some of mine. I think I kept it pretty low key with just family. More a fun vlog. Tours were early morning or on quiet evenings. And there's too many food videos already! I didn't bother too much with the theatre either. People can go watch the shows and see for theirselves. Thanks for the comment.
dont get me wrong John i dont actually mind most of the content, its just theres a proliferation of it now...i love watching the walkthroughs to see the wow factor of the ships before i cruise, but we have a multitude of people filming their lunch, and the minutiae of life on board...cruise companies try their best to accommodate the needs and wants of everyone and tbh they just cant please everyone all the time...i loathe some of the cruises and have had a few miserable trips but they are in the past and the lines need to be able to put things right...then there is the privacy issue...i dont really mean the privacy of being filmed i mean the privacy of the experience...cruising has become much less of a wow experience and more like butlins or benidorm at sea and the videos take away from the mystery of whats to come once onboard...i really like Ben and David, Emma Cruises, Dons Vacations, La Vida Loca, and so many more, and of course you...i dont want the videos to stop, but every day, every trip and in all walks of life...its just a part of todays lives and im sure it will get worse before better...i even post a few videos on my you tube karaoke channel...cruise karaokes and retro fruit machine videos...im not a vlogger just like watching them like a family video so i see it from all viewpoints

@@singingbuddhakaraoke tbh only watched a few lesser known TH-cam videos on the ship we were going to go on just to nose. They made us look forward to it more. None of us have to watch these videos I guess. And no one on our ship got on my nerves or in our way. Was a great trip. I hope my wine tasting and whisky shop videos help some. Imagine a scenario, a wealthy married business man takes his mistress on a week long cruise, he books a private area and pays a lot of money for that privacy.....Then along come Ben and David, they maybe filming the ocean, but it looks like the camera is pointing at the couple, the businessman is going through lots of emotions about his wife or friends seeing the footage, he has paid a lot of money....what would you do?

There are signs in the yacht club saying no filming or photography in the area. They were warned before about filming. Also commercial filming is not allowed on any cruise line without prior permission.
Hi Steve and thanks for the comment. Re the signage and them ignoring it. I didn't know that and they never mentioned it in their videos! As for commercial filming, I guess it depends on how far you go to define commercial filming. Were they commercial filming? Was I? Interesting. As for the signage etc it's strange that if MSC were in the right, that they have offered full refund and no doubt a free cruise in the future. The mystery continues eh!
Of course they didn't mention it. They want sympathy, views and donations. There are signs at the yacht club and on the terms of service on the cruise. I have been at the yacht club. It would be impossible not to know filming and photography of any kind in that area is not allowed. They are filming content for videos which are monetized, have advertisements and are sponsored. It is their profession. That is commercial content, not just holiday videos. Often a company will give in- even when in the right, if there is enough social media pressure against them. @@LifeofJohnG
And let's not forget they absolutely trashed MSC on their previous review. Why would MSC let them continue filming and risk another outrageous review? From my experience of Ben and David's vlogs, it's very clear they throw their toys out of the pram when they don't get their own way
