Ran across your video in my feed. MSC has caused a major blow to the brand. The blow back on this has been astronomical. I do not care who was on the ship, the harassment they suffered was uncalled for. Why didn't they just ask nicely? MSC has a rep for really bad service when things go wrong and personal after what happened to Ben and David, I wouldn't go on a MSC cruise if it was free.
I totally agree that MSC handled this absolutely horribly. Ben and David are great and deserved NONE of this. The response was so overhanded by MSC it makes me wonder what else was going on?
I received many offers from MSC for a free cruises, now no way even if they paid me to come!
A bit of wild speculation, in my opinion, that there was someone that didn’t want to be filmed.
To @@jeffreykyle8587, even if this is true, MSC misjudged the fallout between somebody who complained and now literally, 400,000 viewers of the different TH-cam Cruise bloggers, who have sided with Ben and David. MSC can say what they want, the fact is that the laws are that when a person is in a public space, then they do not have any right to their privacy. While in a public space, the photographer owns that photo or video and they can sell or post that photo or video. If this case were to go to court, MSC would lose this. Do you honestly think that the supposed "1" complainer will show up to court and will subject themselves to being cross-examined by Ben and David's lawyer? If the MSC YC is considered to be private, then that means that anybody can walk around the YC common space in their birthday suit. Since MSC wouldn't allow that, then MSC has thereby defined the YC common space to be be considered to be "Public Space" thereby making that public space to be fair game for anybody who wants to film or photograph in that space, just as MSC allowed other photographers to photograph and record inside the YC.
@@jeffreykyle8587according to a letter Ben and David received from someone higher up at MSC, there was someone who complained and said he/she could not be on social media. Makes me wonder if it's someone that wanted by FBI that's afraid they will be spotted....lol. All the -Erwin or ship had to do was say I don't want to be filmed to Ben and David and they would have not filmed them. They even offered to film when no one was around. I really think they saw the bad review and didn't want another one, which is funny because they were giving a good review.
There was no one who is that important on the ship, it holds something like 6000 people not exactly private. If they are that important they go on private yacht not a cruise line like MSC.
And if that important they would have had security ! It was a cop out excuse to treat Ben and David badly.

Anyone that needs the amount of privacy you are suggesting are not going to be on a MSC ship. This to me reads....someone that was in yacht club either didn't like vloggers, didn't like Ben and David or didn't care for them being a couple. Most reasonable adults if they felt they were being filmed would just ask to be removed or avoided. Maybe it was a staff member who got sick of vloggers or they didn't like Ben and David. This doesn't seem like a reasonable grown up with the reaction they experienced.

Have to disagree with you. They had problems with MSC in the past because of not so good review. I think MSC just made up that story about another person not wanting to be filmed. They were just censoring them.

It wasn't about someone on board the ship who couldn't be recorded. Everyone carries a TV studio in their pocket. If you can't be recorded you don't get on a ship with 6,000 passengers.

The cruise line makes there own videos and controls the release of it to the media, like any business. Plus they knew that these 2 weirdos were out to do them harm for their own gain. Msc has the right to shut them down. Read the cruise contract you have no right to video anyone on the ship. Glad MSC shut them down. Nobody needs two weirdos filming them.
I watched Ben & Davids entire vlog on this issue, I applaud them for being so calm and professional. These guys have amazing standards and honestly are top in the "CruiseTube" category for this reason. MSC seemed to be dialed in to Ben & Davids channel and assessed that it was a big money maker and used that as the excuse to shut them down. US National Parks have a policy and shut down Kara & Nate with a threat of substantial legal consequences and fines just a few years ago. Not to mention Pompsie's Las Vegas Cosmopolitan fiasco that had him banned for life, that ended up with the Cosmo creating a much looser policy with content creators. I would expect MSC to introduce a clear-cut policy on who can film where and how Professional crews need to have certain permissions and agree to set policy with an agreement and signature.
I remember the Kara and Nate situation. I think they are going to have to set up a clear cut policy after this mess up. Ben and David are a class act for how they dealt with this.

There is a clear cut policy , its call the code of conduct. Every cruise line has one. Tell those 2 butt bandits to go read it. On top of that they upset passengers and bashed the cruise line before. Msc was correct in stopping them.
This situation could have been avoided if they got permission. Some cruise lines require permission if filming for commercial purposes. Also MSC is privately owned and probably reserve the right to ban someone.
MSC had a stupid way of approaching the situation. They released their video before MSC told them someone didn't want to be shown. So they had no opportunity to look through their footage and edit footage of said person out. (Not that it was there to begin with.)

Your 100% correct! Somebody complained. What happened after that was handled atrociously....by the cruise lines.
MSC knew exactly who they were. MSC had offered them a free cruise if they would allow MSC to control the content of what they put out. They made that offer knowing full well they are trusted successful reviewers. They refused the free trip because they don't trade compliments for money, they pay their own way and create fair and truthful reviews. They are in fact enormously kind even in situations where there are negatives to be stated, I've seen that over and over. That is also clear because even after this terrible treatment they still published the very positive things they had to say about the cruise up to the point they were silenced.
Yes Ben and David have my respect. They are great people.

Nowadays there are so many people everywhere filming and putting people in full view. There must be strict rules. It's good that MSC has banned Ben & David filming without permission. It is also NOT correct that Ben & David are outraged. Make sure you get permission in advance and also make sure that people do not unintentionally come into the picture.

The irony is they were giving it a good review too! Until that happened. MSC messed up big time! But I agree, seemed like retribution. The response that MSC gave to them afterwards via email was total bs too.

No, it was not retribution to do with their honest review of what happened 3 years ago. In fact, MSC representative recently sent an invitation to Ben and David for a fully comped free cruise to Ben and David, but being the men of integrity that they are, they declined the offer for the fully free cruise. This is because Ben and David are men of integrity and cannot be bought off by having to give anything less than an honest review. If MSC didn't want Ben and David to board their ship or wanted to exert retribution on them for having given an *honest* review 3 years ago, then why did MSC offer Ben and David a fully comped cruise and why did MSC allow Ben and David to purchase their tickets and board their infrastructure? No, MSC management turned a nothing issue into an issue that has blown up into a situation that now needs a colossal intervention. With the fan base that Ben and David have plus the support that all other bloggers have stepped up with to Ben and David, there has now been over 500,000 views to this story and all for what, "one" mystery customer who said that they couldn't be photographed while in a public space while on a ship with 5,000 to 6,000 passengers and 1,500 staff. MSC management made a big mistake and for every hour and every day that MSC doesn't issue a humble apology, is just going to get worse.
I wonder if MSC told *EVERYONE* to stop recording, or just Ben and David? And was *EVERYONE* told that they couldn’t take pictures (of their spouses) or just Ben and David?
I am sure they are not telling everyone not to take pictures of their spouses.
Anyone with the power and reach to have filming shut down by these two individuals of this specific TH-cam channel and only these two individuals out of everyone on the whole ship would not be cruising on a cruise ship that caters to the public. Someone like that would be sailing on a private yacht.
It’s much more likely that the ship’s crew took note of who these two are and their prior review. It seems likely they panicked and made a terrible mistake.
It’s up to us now to make MSC make this right for the lads.

Other Vloggers film. They were told that they couldn't film or photogragh each other. Ben and David are very cafeful not to be intrusive. MSC handled tge situation badly.

Your video came up on my feed. Even if someone had complained to MSC about being filmed by Ben and David, they should have responded to that person and told them to chill out because it is allowed. Even though the ship is private, even a cruise line could argue that in “public” spaces being recorded unintentionally by others is possible. Ben and David do say in their video that various employees looked them up. MSC really shot themselves in the foot with this one. I’ve never been on their cruise line, we do Royal and Virgin lately. Will never go on MSC after this. Couldn’t imagine someone telling me I can’t pictures or videos on my vacation - they were paying customers. Keep grinding with your channel!

Anyone that can’t be filmed would NEVER take this cruise. Many people have been treated this way when on a MSC ship by higher ups. Not just filming. Getting bed bug bites, not getting things they need. MSC needs to retrain their upper management team. There is NO excuse for being treated this way for any reason. They are in the people pleasing business. Not just pleasing one person or themselves. Ben & David shouldn’t have to be on the defensive for anything. Bad business practice @MSC. Boo. Never cruising you.

They were yelled at about filming on their last MSC cruise quite a few years ago. I was in Las Vegas last week and everyone was filming. I would allow 2 poses then walk through. I'm not waiting for a full fashion shoot at the Bellogio garden.
I bet it was hard to do anything in Vegas without being in someone's content. That being said I think Ben and David are very careful about what and who they film. Just the impression I have watching their videos. Thanks for watching.

I appreciate your point of view. I don't think it was a person or people that couldn't be filmed. If that was the case, their footage would have been confiscated, and/or their posts would have been sent to youtube as a violation.
I considered that “harboring a shady character” theory but if that were the case the person would not be dumb enough to leave their cabin. Yacht Club will serve you in your cabin and anyone that far on the down-low would likely have assistants who aren’t recognizable.
I think most of commenters agree with you.
I doubt very strongly that someone complained about them filming because people are filming all the time on cruise ships. The suits who came to talk to them kept asking them about their TH-cam channel so I think the problem was that someone at MSC had seen the previous mostly negative video from about three years ago and did not want to take a chance that another negative video would show up. I went back to rewatch that video and there one of the problems was also crewmembers yelling at them, and telling them they could not video certain things. Maybe MSC just has a fear of bad reviews. but the ironic thing is this was going to be an extremely positive review from everything that we saw prior to the bad incident so MSC shot itself in the foot saying they could not even film with ordinary cell phones or take pictures of each other, etc. which turned this into total censorship. Ben and David always complement everything good that they see, and try to give an extremely balanced view of everything, and also film, primarily during quiet times on board to avoid accidentally filming someone who is not wish to be in a video. Your theory is interesting, but I just don't think it's correct..

I don’t believe this was the case. MSC knew who they were because they asked B&D to identify their TH-cam channel.
There are about 6000 passengers on the Virtuosa, most of whom have cell phones with cameras. By B&D own observations, many around them were filming to their hearts content and MSC didn’t bother them. B&D, however, were followed and stalk, long after they left the Yacht Club.

MSC did know who they were, it would be poor security etc if they didn’t know everyone onboard. If there were someone on there who didn’t want to be filmed why not put a notice to everyone that there was a ban on filming in the Yacth club area, although why someone that important would be on a MSC ship and not one like Silver Sea or a similar one… sounds suspicious
You put out your opinion- fine. MAYBE a person didn't want to be seen...but most content people do not or blur people's faces. They could have received a warning or given restrictions where they could film -but not to picture each other - shady

No one of any importance was travelling there, or at least anyone who could not be filmed. If that occurred, there would have been signs and a notice sent to ALL MSC Yacht guests of this special request. No one person or camera would have been targeted Ben and David (or not)!!

I said the same in the Ben and David comment section yesterday and my comment mysteriously disappeared shortly after. That confirmed for me that homophobia was responsible for their treatment by MSC.

It’s an interesting perspective. One thing I thought of was, if that was the case, then all filming should have been stopped or at least all known vlogers on the ship should have been told to stop. Unless it was not that case that they could not be filmed, but more specifically, not filmed by Ben and David. Now that’s an interesting theory too.

MSC will be in damage control with a whole team of lawyers trying to undermine this whole scenario and the people involved. MSC said they had a complaint , they admit they handled it poorly. My thoughts it was someone who is supposed to be at work or told wifey on a business trip but chose to be on a cruise😂
There a lot of people who are fortunate enough to go on regular cruises but some people have not had the luxury of ever having a cruise apart from 'that' special one that a family have saved and saved for. 'That' cruise would have been the pinnacle of their holidays and they would want to record by video or still camera that they can look back on with nostalgia. I take photos and video on holiday. If I want to photo a public area, I do so when it is empty or very few people in the area who I can avoid. But, people can get into shot. Have MSC lost the plot? A cruise is going to generate passengers taking many photos and video. If they are heading towards banning passengers recording their 'once in a lifetime' trip then they are on a slippery slope to losing a mass of business. In view of the cost of cruising it is very helpful to see around a ship they are anticipating to cruise on - not just the glossy photos advertised by the cruise company. Are MSC going to urge TH-cam to take down all the videos about their ships? MSC needs to sit down - at Director level - to have a long hard think as to what harm this incident has done to the company. The video under discussion is out there and will be viewed by many potential customers.

The person should have stayed home, as you are being filmed anytime you are in public from shops, banks, hotels, and even on cruise ships. That person needs to come forward and publicly apologize to Ben and David for instigating this fiasco. Hope the person gets identified and publicly shamed.
I suspect one or more Yacht club guests complained about them talking to the camera during meals and in common area.

I agree with you. TH-camrs can be really distracting. When u book in yacht club there is an expectation of privacy and ease. No one can deny having TH-camr filming in all these discreet areas changes the dynamic. Good on MSC. No one is entitled to film all these places - it’s private property and they did not have prior permission. Next time - ask permission!

My take is that someone did complain. Youre right Europeans are more sensitive to their privacy and they love to complain. Especially if they are paying top dollar for an exclusive experience.
When they were filming in public areas I think that is normal and people would generally expect that and it wouldn't be out of the ordinary. But when you start filming in a place that semi-private there is that small expectation of privacy.
I do fault the crew on board on how they handled the situation, but Ben and David also didn't help by leaving in a huff and not reaching out to guest relations on board. We weren't there so we can't say how hostile the crew were. Dialogue is a two-way road and those guys just left without any explanation making the crews' job harder than it should be.

MSC should have approached Ben and David with a smile some kind words and ask them to turn the camera off while they had a quick discussion. MSC could have asked Ben and David to limit filming in the Yacht to a private tour with a crew member at a specific time. Even if just one guest objected MSC had an obligation to speak with them about filming. I would imagine plenty was lost in translation and frustrations ensued. I like Ben and David but they lost without a fight because this could have/ should have, been rectified onboard.

I do applaud them for not making any waves being the upstanding guys that they are. I would have pushed back more also. The fact is they were disrespected and I am sad for them.
@@ggjr61 as simple turning the camera off and asking to speak with a manager to explain what was expected and what had happened. Ship happens and they were filming in a sensitive area. They could have just taken a step back and requested clarification from a manager or supervisor of the person requesting them to stop filming. Other passengers and even crew dont know that ben and david are respectful of others privacy.

If it was only, just the case of a passenger that complained about being filmed, then why didn't they band Every single person with a video camera or cell phone since Ben and David were told no phones either?? No, it was because of the review they gave MSC 3 years ago that was negative, and they were scared that they would get another one! Cause why are you going to keep asking for their channel name and scroll through looking for it? What are you looking for if it was a customer complaint about being seen? No, MSC had seen that they were getting negative comments and trying to save face cause they did Ben and David wrong and probably realized that this can possibly cause a problem with other content creators and future passengers that might not want to sail with them now!
Telling them not to film would not help to make a positive video and surely they understand that too so it is hard to say.

Your video popped up in my feed and I just subscribed. I love the style of Ben and David's videos and think MSC has handled it poorly. Even the letter from MSC they posted today is shameful. As a "frequent cruiser", I like to post cabin tours on my you tube channel, and now I wish I had filmed more on the Meraviglia when we were onboard last year. After this nasty treatment of Ben and David, I have crossed MSC off my cruise list. I have cruised with Oceania, Princess, Celebrity, MSC, Carnival, and NCL. Shame on MSC~~~!!!!!!~~~ Try to remember, they are making a BIG push into the US market, and we AMERICANS love FREEDOM OF SPEECH! This does NOT set well with me.

Ahh Vladimir Putin was on the yacht club and could not be filmed ! I really don’t think so , in fact I have doubt that person existed. I suspect someone panicked when they realised who Ben and David were and perhaps saw the previous adverse film from 3 years ago and completely over reacted . There is no excuse for rudeness and even if the instruction was to stop filming it should have been done in a diplomatic manner . But it’s clearly stupid to prevent people using their phones for pictures ! I think it is symptomatic of MSC however .
They really messed this one up. I am amazed at how badly they treated Ben and David.

Unless I'm asked permission, I want no part on someone's youtube channel. They have the wherewithal and technology to blur people out. I also do not want my daughter on anyone's youtube channel, personal OR "business." The cruise line handled it according to their privacy policies. BOTTOM LINE! If the policy was violated, they had every right to confront B & D. I'm a travel planner and book clients on MSC and other lines. Like every company on the planet including all travel companies and suppliers, policies are policies. BOTTOM LINE

Yes there was some panic going on for sure. That is why I think there is more to this.
I think that’s just going the crazy conspiracy theory route. I think it’s as simple as someone in the suites was a Karen and told their butler (or other waitstaff) they don’t want to be filmed.

It couldn’t have been Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, because you know how much they love publicity. Not sure if there was anyone on the cruise that didn’t want to be filmed. It’s hard to keep your anonymity on a cruise when so many people have cell phones, or cameras. Exclusive places like ship within a ship like the yacht club aren’t the secret forbidden places like some people may think.

Yes, that makes full sense. In that situation, and with the European privacy regulations, MSC had no other option. They had an option however to handle it differently, probably it escalated to a no return point.

Tracy, nice video! You should, however, be a little more careful on what you report. Some of the story as you told it was untrue. Ben and David have 250 thousand subscribers, not a half a million. There were a few other details you misstated as well. I don’t mean to discourage you! Just to suggest you maybe prep a little more maybe with some notes before recording and posting.

Someone on the ship that can’t be filmed.. give me a break (conspiracy stuff lolol) if their on a cruise ship and ‘should not be seen’ they put themselves in this situation and no Cruise line would even consider being responsible to make sure ‘They’ are not photographed or video’s.. Their in the wrong place.. everyone and their Mother has a cell phone .. Ben & David were directly targeted and should not have been.. that’s the whole story.. I know that MSC has had other LQBTQ Cruisers filming on their ships so I am not sure this was the reason for the horrible way they were treated.

Agreed. I think I made a comment on another video about this that was along those lines. MSC was clearly protecting a VVIP, and I doubt that whoever was managing this trusted these lovely TH-camrs to not accidentally capture images of the VVIP or their known associates.
That said, MSC should have explained the situation better and comped them with a new cruise that they could film on.
