      @@theaussielawn Well it was brand new if it's playing up within a 2 month period l guess, l just did not want to take that risk. Brand new mowers should not have that problem.
      But thanks for your guide it's very good and very informative for me so thank you mate.

    Great videos and aussie content
    Curious as to why you catch instead of multching with your toro on buff?

    • @theaussielawn
      @theaussielawn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate I really appreciate it,
      As for mulching personally I find catching cleaner (no grass getting dragged in the house less cleanup after mowing, less wear on mower blade , I find it gives a cleaner cut also.
      All that being said next season I’m going to conduct an experiment with the buff.
      I’m going to mow the same half with catcher for the whole season and the other half will be mulched I want to see if there are any noticeable differences between them over the whole season

    Those are some beautiful birds and I did notice the kangaroos by the tree. How do you like Deere spreader and what size is it. What were the birds at the 8:15 mark back by the stone rock pile? Enjoyed the video.

    • @theaussielawn
      @theaussielawn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day Ron, yeah its a good spreader I actually think they are now discontinued unfortunately (well here in Australia at least) mine is the largest one 80lbs The birds at the end are Australian Wood Ducks

    Hi just install Santa Ann at the front of my mum’s house and it’s the start of winter what’s the best way to keep it looking great before summer how many times does it need watering what’s the best fertiliser and can I use liquid iron thanx

    • @theaussielawn
      @theaussielawn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends where you are located mate but rule of thumb is no fertilisers in winter and re the watering you don't want the soil soaking wet or dusty dry, moist soil is the aim.

    I think you mentioned using a drop of glyphosate to kill nutsedge in one of your videos? Did you use straight concentrate or did you use mix? I’m curious. 🧐 I have a newly seeded (21days) Bermuda lawn that I’m having loads of sedge growing....

    • @theaussielawn
      @theaussielawn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      G'day Don yeah I just use an eye dropper and drop one single drop in the crown of the nut sedge. I do just use it straight but it wouldn't matter if you diluted it. It was just more convenient straight from the bottle haha.

    Hi Brenton, I watched one of your videos where you said about having your sapphire grow straight up. How do you get this to happen? Mine has been down for about 8 months and still getting a lot of runners. Is there anything I can do to rectify the problem. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

    • @theaussielawn
      @theaussielawn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ross or Lynne ,
      The secret is to mow tall and use a rotary mower. I keep my sapphire long 3”+ for now though let your buff settle in and grow next season you can consider a scalp mow down to 1” then don’t cut it at all until it’s grown up to the long height of 3” (usually max height on a rotary mower) then you’ll be well on your way to an upright buff lawn

      @@theaussielawn Hi Mate. After watching your videos I'm going to attempt to scalp my sir walter buffalo either this or next week. Quick question. I got some clover weeds in my lawn. Should I use selective weed killer before the scalp? or scalp and fertilize first then wait for it to recover before using weed killer if the clover is still present?
      Thanks for the vids

    Hey mate, how's the deck flex on the Toro? I've stayed away from them as I have heard reports of them being a bit...bendy. How's the cut with what I assume would be a bar blade? I thought you'd be in prime swing back country!

    • @theaussielawn
      @theaussielawn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mystyler 13 hey there mate thanks for your message , there is absolutely no flex in the deck what so ever but keep in mind super recyclers are an alloy deck not steel. I have a number of machines mate that toro is bar blade yup . Other machines I have are swing back. I feel the toro cuts buffalo extremely well. Like mentioned in the vid I don’t use it on couch

    • @frinkie
      @frinkie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theaussielawn the pleasure is mine, I enjoy the videos and looking forward to seeing your progress.
      Thanks for the response. I love the longer cut on Buff, but I dislike the quality of cut both my rotaries give with swing backs. Thinking about getting something with a bar blade to at least give a quality of cut closer to my cylinder that I use on my fine leaf grass. Not sure about the longevity of an alloy deck on the endless sand that is the West but I'll keep an open mind for sure.Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

    • @theaussielawn
      @theaussielawn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mystyler 13 a little more food for thought. The toro has very little “suction” effect If that makes sense so possibly the sandy conditions won’t be as much as a concern with the super recycler . It’s hard to describe but it has an entirely different cut compared to swing back

    • @frinkie
      @frinkie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@theaussielawn thank you for that thought. I had not considered the lack of vacuum effect from the bar blade. Which itself leads to another problem - the swing backs do a great job lifting Box Tree nuts up off the lawn!
      My continued experience solidifies the theory that there is no perfect mower!

    • @theaussielawn
      @theaussielawn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pyra sounds like your doing the right things given the time of year. If the lawn spends between half or more of the day in shade then most certainly keep raising the height
