The Juggernaut sprite, which first appeared in Children of The Atom, is still to me one of the most impressive sprites in any Capcom game. It's such a pleasing thing to watch animate.
Also the Shuma Gorath walking animation from MSH is a freaking masterpiece. That and Spirals idle animation from Children of the Atom. They cut a considerable number of frames from these animations in mvc2. Pains me every tine i see it.
Old school Capcom fighting games just have some best stages ever. The train stage in MSH with the cityscape, neon lights, and the moon in the back- *chef's kiss*
Shuma Gorath's stage always struck me, made me think all sort of things like "what the hell is this place, what that skeleton looked like when it was alive" this is peak videogame bliss.
I can't even picture the heartwarming feeling that is seeing this game in action. I used to play it a lot on my PSX back when i was 11 years old. The sound effects are the most impactful, to this day the narrator and voice lines are stuck in my head. INFINITY!!! time flies.
I spent many, many quarters in the MSH machine at my local pizzeria when I was a kid. Never was all that good, but Wolverine was always heckin fun to play.
Spider-Man definitely has the best victory pose when he wins, in which he takes a picture of himself using a camera attached to some webbing and says "One for J.J.!" while also giving a thumbs-up. :D
That edited transition between matches is immaculate. 🎥🎞🌟 16:26 ...Wait a minute, hold up! Captain America *lands behind you,* and you can still grab him?! That makes no sense! 🤔
I see that, it happened because Max was already blocking in that direction and mashing Heavy Punch and most old fighting game throws (Hold Forward or Back + HP) will have you throw someone when in range and in the direction you're holding. That, and you can cancel your turning animation into whatever since the game read him as facing Cap after he stopped blocking to mash for throw and landed the timing meant that shit was instant. EDIT: That, plus Jugg's passive armor meant he ignored the light kick before he started the throw
This was the first fighting game I played and I loved it to bits ! The art and backgrounds were so nice that sometimes I'd try and make a fight last longer just to be able to see everything that changes on a stage Also my single move spamming younger self would have been so happy to know that you can play as Doom and Thanos. The cheat is really weird to pull off though, no way anyone could have known without being told or having the internet

It's also inconsistent as hell - even if you land it, there's a chance that not all the hits land, not only doing less damage, but also leaving you at disadvantage. Thankfully Spidey has a very solid Alpha Counter, so he still has something to spend meter for.
Many people doesn't how to use Juggernaut. His normals is slow but his specials came out fast so you gotta be on the offensive at all times. His Juggernaut punch travels halfway across the screen and his body splash is 3/4 across so use and abuse it to get close. Juggie punch also goes through any projectiles that is not a beam so any opponent who plays keep away and spams Web Ball/Mystic Stare/Psi Blast, just hit them with a Juggie punch
@@adrianhendricks772 Yep. It's 6. He had 5 specials but he does have six supers in this game, two of which got cut in MvC2 (Time, which slows your opponent down and Mind, which reverses your controls)
I'm used to play juggernaut in that game and the basic combo is down low kick + down heavy punch, jump LP, LK MP HP and sometimes you can hit twice HP, and the basic strategy is every time you do a big punch cancel for QCF LP to make it safe, other stuff is the you can hit 2 special one right after the other, you can pretty much hit the special after any hit and standing HP is a very good anti air like DP you can also make a cheap
Back when I played this in the arcade, there was an unwritten rule that whenever someone did a grab/throw, they had to "give it back" and let the opponent throw them. Did other arcades do this or was it just my local arcade? This was back in Japan in the mid 90s.
As a kid I was lucky enough not to experience such a thing but I have heard people being upset with throws. Honestly that is such a scrub thing to do! I'm happy people have evolved from such stupid things.
@Tommy P - Tick-throwing is cheap, scrub. Can't expect millenials & zoomers to have any honor. This guy is even talking about Japanese arcades, so bushido.... you know nothing of it.
I fought a juggy on ggpo and the dude blew me away I’ve never seen anyone play jugs that good. Practically using him like a grappler and only used gems for the invincibility frames.
Juggernaut doesn't have a command grab in this game. That was a new move for him made with recycled animation, in X-Men vs Street Fighter. Down, down + 3 punches is to pick up certain foreground objects, then throw them. I love Juggernaut 👍!

Him, Iron Man/War Machine, and Venom are all really detailed sprites. CPS2 era Capcom were on their SSS-Game when it came to sprite art.

Don’t forget Magneto and his swirly hands 🙌
With all these awesome modded characters being added to UMVS3, I really want someone to make a mod that adds Juggernaut, just like he is in this game
Ultimate Marvel vs Slapcom 3
They should also give him a new super or two. Head Crush is awesome but I'm sure there's more to him than that.

The stages in fighting games are getting worse and worse
@@starlitbebe3136 yep I was hugely let down by King of Fighters stages recently
The Japanese style stage was the only one I liked 😔
I also love Magneto's stage with the impenetrable glass floor that eventually floats over the Sun
Juggernaut Grab is down down 3 punches, but it's not a command grab, it's a "item lift". He grabs a piece of the stage and uses it as a weapon.
This game was my introduction to the fighting game genre, it brings so many memories.
Me too 💜 I still love this game

There's a few characters that are better off using their meter for counter instead of waiting for a chance to use super.
