He is NOT fucking kidding about the statistics part. If you don't take your statistical knowledge beyond the level that your university probably offers, in other words, if you don't focus on it independently... You'll be LOST when you start trying to interpret more complex research. I'm going through this now and am taking steps to rectify it. DO NOT SKIM OVER STATS.... You will pay for it later!

i'm a first year psych student aiming to ultimately be a clinician. I assume that learning calculus and downstream, statistical math, would be extremely useful, yes?

I sucked at stats in uni but just went back after 25 years and got a first-class diploma in it. Loved every second of it.

"...On that note, man, over 'n' out." after such a deep and inspiring little speech cracked me up. Admire you Peterson

I think that Peterson might've misinterpreted the question. I think that they were asking him IF they should go into psychology, and not *how.* Either way he has good advice

I got a 2.0 in stats towards my AA degree then retook stats and got a 3.8 gpa. I was thankful to be done with stats. I graduated with my AA degree in December 2022. NOW I am getting my bachelors in science of psychology and realized I have to take another statistics class. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Good thing I retook it towards my AA degree. Mind you, I am a single mom of 4 kids 🙌 👩‍🎓📚

being a 20 year old single male completing my BS in psychology as well, I can only imagine how much it must take to go down this path with your situation. You’re a great person and I hope you achieve great things with your education!

I really want someone to help me with this i dont know what do i do...Im feeling really down about this i am first year of psychology studies i want to become a therapist i have iq of 112 and verbal iq of 140 what does that even mean can i be good therapist one day with scores like that does my verbal iq even matter if i have iq of 112..?All of my friends scored like 135,140 on iq test and theres me with 112...

Which IQ test did you do? And why was the discrepancy between your full scale score and your verbal IQ so considerable? You might have ADHD. However, a high verbal IQ is profoundly useful and predicts success most potently in psychological practice; and yours, if it was measured using a valid instrument, is in the very gifted range.

Don’t worry about that. Just focus on loving what you do, then it’ll fall into place once you slowly start figuring it out.
Plus an IQ of 112 is above average so please stop feeling like you’re not good enough for whatever it is you want to achieve in life.
