Just been given a Kubota tractor, stood 4 or 5 years and it wasn`t interested in going until I got some power into the glowplugs. At least 30 seconds of heat and then away she went. Good luck, looking forward to episode 2. Much love from France x
Thanks George, thats good to know. Getting the glowplugs fired up will be the first call next visit, however given the amount of blow by I think we may be in for more of a fight. All good fun though, love a challenge! 😆
take the rocker cover off and check the valves are not sticking. Put some atf down the injector ports and leave it soak for a week
Cheers Doc👍will try to see if it will seal
As others have said Kubotas love their glow plugs, defo worth sticking with. I have a slightly newer KX41 (‘93) and it’s great, super useful bits of kit that don’t need much fettling if maintained sensibly. 👋😀
Thanks we’ll certainly check out and try the glow plugs to see if they’re working and make a difference, lots of good info suggested and thanks for your support with the channel, stay tuned for part 2👍
Try the Marvel Mystery Oil, works miracles alot of times
Looking forward to part 2, great vid 👍
Cheers Sal, we won’t give up on it if there’s any hope, thanks so much for your support and kind words👍
Did anybody else see the decompression lever 😂 as a plant mechanic this was painful to watch but entertainment thanks for the upload👍
Decompression lever was seized, never understood what and why they were fitted, I’d love to know if you could enlighten? Should it have a cable fitted?
@@RustNRestoration yes its for when conditions are in the negatives it allows engine speed to increase as compression can be lost with piston ring shrinkage batteries generally lose strength in the negativs also and struggle to swing the engine fast enough to atomizer diesel.
Summer use of decompression leavers would be when a battery is low or if you have trouble bringing fuel from the injector pump to the injectors this saves not only the battery but prevents starting motor failure
You will need that compression lever full close for the cylinder to ignite, use a grips and wd40..
ether should not be used unless you have multiple bad injectors.
this older model engine heavily depends on a 12 second long glow.
Brilliant thanks for taking time to explain👍 I remember decompression levers on the old dumpers and I was told not to stop them on the decompression, makes sense on what you explain, less strain on the engine and it will turn over faster, will try it when we revisit👍
@@RustNRestoration no worries lad just a side note on the lister and petters engines it didn't do the engine any harm because the valves could never interfere with the piston the only reason old boys said that was because the flywheel on them engines was the weight of 3 bingo woman and didn't stop spinning for 5 minutes so the lever would fall back down by itself when you walked away from it and reignite , if this was on a hoist or a winch with that engine back in the day that was fatal as they had a hand clutch normally engaged, unless information😅
Look forward to part 2!
Cheers Rob, thanks for your support👍we almost gave up on it but as I said in the video a worn out digger is better than a brand new pick and shovel😩we’re looking forward to trying a few ideas
Hi.
All I can do is subscribe and start watching.👍👍👍
I have been refurbishing my 1980's mini excavator for 3 years and the oldest working excavator is from 1959.
- Greetings from Poland.
Thank you for your support! Hopefully you find the content interesting on our channel, good luck with your mini excavator progress👍 greetings from Wales🏴🏴🏴
Dude just take the injectors out spray penetrant in cylinders to unseize the rings,do a compression test while your at it. I know this engine will run. It also mite be a good idea to disconnect the hydro pump so you don’t ruin it with all the trash and rust. I subscribed to see what happens🙂
That's what we will probably end up doing 👍 hoping to revisit this very soon. Thanks for subscribing, much appreciated 😊
I know its kinda latebut if you add equal parts acetone and atf it works wonders. Worked great on my Kubota kh28l that had sat long enough to cause the engine to sieze. Alsoa new starter didn't hurt. Good luck guys
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve seen that used on other videos with success, thanks for your support 👍
the old kubota excavator lucky parts are still avaliable at my kubota dealer for that model
I'd be interested in the tower behind you if it was for sale
Kubota needs its glow plugs too.
Good point it all helps with combustion👍
@@RustNRestorationThe big bang
Also add some form of heat to the air cleaner so it can get into the combustion chamber while cranking if you had what ever house voltage you use in your country a hair dry hand held of course has been know to help my Fordson Super Major on the cold days. Good luck oh and check for sticky valves. Maybe not closing all the way to allow full compression. Later guys
Great vid, but please chop that beeper of the jump pack lol.
Yes apologies for that and it was an oversight on our part! I think we were concentrating so much on the next steps and what we could do we were oblivious to it🙈hope it didn’t spoil the vid too much for you and thank you for your support and comment it is much appreciated👍
With that jump pack beeping away I was starting to think I was watching an episode of Casualty.
Yes sorry about that Randy but it was on life support and was flatlining😂😂😂
@@RustNRestoration I was waiting for it to frop to a continuous beep lol
ATF should unstick the rings
Thanks Terence will have to give that a try👍stay tuned for part 2 thanks for your support
Please do your best to save the we kubota digger
This engine need glowing.
Yup! Will deffinately hook them up when we revisit this shortly
all you need to do was take heater plugs out put engine oil in cylinder it will raise compression and start then leave running till hot done 100s of engine and got them going this way unless it has an electric stop on the pump that needs 12v feed,
I have one these machines had it bout 20 years still fires up not worth selling so keep it for odd jobs I should replace end jib as bucket pin holes worn 🤷♂️ one day 👍 I’ve every confidence that machine would run mine sat for five years and I got it going I’m no mechanic though please don’t scrap it I’d be interested just for parts best of look guys .. John ✊👍
Keeper suckin diesel 🛠️🔧🧰
We will do our best👍stay tuned for part 2 thanks for your support much appreciated
Just a thought mine has a decompression lever on rocker that’s froze shut so machine runs is yours open or closed??
Thanks John, I worked on trying to get a Kubota RW42 digger loader and that had a decompression lever on the rocker, the one on this machine is seized and not sure what role it would have played? I imagine that the engine would stop with the key or a stop cable but thanks so much for your suggestion and support viewing this video, lots to check from advice from people commenting has given us a few pointers to look at in an attempt to get it back to life! Stay tuned for part 2 and hopefully success👍
If it does become available I would be interested 👍👍cash money ..twos better than one
I have got the same machine and refurbing also in based in south wales . If you do give up on it please let me know as would be interested in parts as trying to restore to original.
Will find out more
@@RustNRestoration no problem good luck bare me in mind if it’s going to be scrapped .
YES Don't bang your head on the cab door
Luckily the door is a lot lower and box section👍🤣🤣🤣🤣
It needs the glow plugs to fire.
This will be our first port of call for the next visit. Previous experience with that amount of blowby has me thinking this may need a little more attention though, but fingers crossed 🤞 confident we can get 'er going!
Is it for sale
Will find out more
Hello there do you the digger would be worth restoring and how much do you think it would take cheers love your videos tree growing through the Dumper ⛏️⚒️🛠️🔥💡🔧⚙️🔩🪓🧲🧰😉🤗👍🍻😃⚒️
Thank you! 😃 glad you like the videos.
This is absolutely worth saving, however as mentioned in the videos it's not our machine so we are unsure what the future may hold for this.
There would be a fair amount of work to restore this to a good standard, but it would not take much to atleast get it operational again. Sorting the engine and hydraulic tank looks to be all it needs right now
What a waste to let a machine get into that condition good luck
I think it was parked up through a series of circumstances and not a priority and over the years deteriorated, hopefully we can get it going and with critical repairs it will work again, thanks for your support viewing the vid and stay tuned for the next part👍
Very quiet voice... I can't understand words. And than suddenly such load music.... that hurts. Bad video.
Thanks for your comments Andy, we are always open to feedback and we have invested in microphones which will hopefully overcome the quiet voices as the camera was set up away from us, hopefully it didn’t put you off too much and you return to enjoy our other content👍
