I loved my festiva. Awesome gas milage. I wish I had another one. Only problem is finding tires that size. I really miss it. Its also fun to drive believe it or not.
I am old now...but my first new car was a 1990 Festiva...$7,000 out the door!...I drove it for five years, and over 90,000 miles-no trouble!...Then, I traded it in. As fate would have it, an uncle of mine, who I had not seen in several years, bought my Festiva off the used car lot! Over a million folks live in this area--what are the odds of that happening?...Anyway, he proceeded to drive that car for another 130,000 miles...until one day he passed out, hit a telephone pole, and trashed the car. He survived. That Festiva never got less than 42mpg when I owned it. Incredible durability for the money!...But nowadays, I would never own a small car!...Most cars now on the road, are larger SUVs and Trucks...I always worried about getting T-boned by another car, even back in the 1990s. No airbags in those Festivas, and the bodies were kinda flimsy. Over the years, whenever I start to brag about my Festiva, people like to correct me, saying that I actually owned a "Fiesta"!...lol. BTW, the Festiva was a car that used Mazda parts, was assembled in Korea, and then badged and sold as a "Ford" product!!! The dealer I bought the car from, tried real hard to "upsell" me into a Ford Escort...so glad I stuck with the Festiva. I have not seen one on the road here in the Seattle area, in maybe 10 years.
I watched a video yesterday of a guy making fun of 8 track’s during his revival. Today cassette’s and in 5 years will be CD’s! 💿 Kids of his age will be laughing at how they could only put 12 songs on a delicate shiny disc, drop it on the gravel once and it’s toast! I would make her a complete revival and put her back on the road. I had a 90 festival with fuel injected 1.3 with a 5 speed until I totaled her Ina car wreck. They are a tough car for being a Korean car.

Back in the very early 90s my friend's mom had one of these. She drove it from Atlanta to Galveston, Texas. Drove it for 4 years while she was here for med school and then drove it back to Georgia the last time I saw it. We went everywhere and that thing. The back seat was small even when I was 12 years old but I don't think it ever broke down and I know she could fill it up for 10 bucks

If someone or someone’s child just happened to step out into the road ahead of you, two lives could end that day!
my friends dad had one that he dogged the hell out of. the e brake quit working, the transmission was stuck in drive, it would go into neutral. so you started in neutral and had to park in a spot you could pull out of.

The Metro was the lightest car on the road back then...and the 3cyl engine models could get over 50mpg on the freeway. But they also lead in the "death trap" category--more deaths per accident than any other car. I laugh at the newer "Smart Car" models!..Seating only for two, and the mpg is not anywhere near 50+mpg...then again, they are claimed to be a "safe" small car.

Had 2 coworkers buy Festivas new in the late 90's. The only option they got was A/C. No radio. I put one in for them. Think they were only like $7k out the door. Pretty sure they got their money out of them. One fella drove his for like 10 years.
@@crewcabdart At the time, I don't think so. A/C is a must in Texas, no radio, 5 speed manual, 12 inch tires. It was around 97-98 when they bought them. Amazingly the speaker location was pre wired, the doors probably were as well, but they didn't want to chop up the doors to install them. To the best of my memory, I believe the back speakers were 5x7, and they were both happy with having something to listen to over the road noise!
Man, my first car was a 90 Feista and it was a great car. A/C, 5 speed, and 38 mpg and 12” wheels. I bought it for $800 because they thought the motor was “knocking” and gonna blow up. It was a collapsed lifter and I pulled it off and apart, primed it and put it back together. It stopped clacking 30 seconds after cranking it up. 👍
We used to pick up my friends festiva and carry it off and hide it from him . One person on each wheel well. You can also put a small dugout in the steering wheel in the center
fix everything thats wrong with it give it a tune up wash it real good and drive that car will save you a ton of gas and you can take the wifey out for a night on the town in it well if she's willing to be seen in it
The Fiesta was 10 years earlier, and was made in England mostly, then imported to the USA. Some parts were German. I was an OK car, but not nearly as basic/reliable as the Festiva Was, later on.
Im very surprised it has power mirrors. This was definitely the top-of-the-line Festiva for 1989- MSRP for the 1989 base model was $5,900, this LX was $7,500- roughly $15,000-$19,000 in today’s dollars. And it still has manual windows- but I guess you don’t have to reach far, lol.
I've always wanted one of these, i still look but man are they expensive for a running driving rig. That interior is looks exactly like my old Mazda 323.
@@crewcabdart I looked after watching your video and the cheapest I found close to me was 800 and it looked like a tree fell on it and had been rolled 33 times. A Nice one is 2200 no joke.

Be careful when pulling e brakes on cars you're not familiar with. They like to stick if they don't get used often, especially if they've been sitting for a while. Neat little car, just needs some TLC.
so I've spent about a year looking for a Festiva I wish there was possible to find one where I live for a realistic price the cheapest one I've ever been able to find was 10k

Haha! Bet the chipmunk walked away!
Had 2 coworkers buy Festivas new in the late 90's. The only option they got was A/C. No radio. I put one in for them. Think they were only like $7k out the door. Pretty sure they got their money out of them. One fella drove his for like 10 years.
No radio?? That’s crazy! Gotta be a rare option!
I have only three of them good little cars
“Only 3” haha! Same here. It’s a problem
She’s a unit and if it moves it’s a keeper
Consider it a keeper!
That was funny. Music , brakes , gas can, no speedo, clutch. What more could you ask for.
Well… I’d ask for brakes next go round haha!
Awesome!
We used to pick up my friends festiva and carry it off and hide it from him . One person on each wheel well. You can also put a small dugout in the steering wheel in the center
Haha! I bet it was still pretty heavy!
fix everything thats wrong with it give it a tune up wash it real good and drive that car will save you a ton of gas
and you can take the wifey out for a night on the town in it
well if she's willing to be seen in it
She loves Festivas! Been on many date nights in my little black one!
I’d say this one definitely deserves to live
It’s got the spirit!
Youre pretty knowledgeable on these cars. I learned a few things i didn't know
Awesome! Thank you!
My first year working at a body shop we cut one of these in half and welder another half on it from the scrap yard was interesting
Interesting haha
Nice I never knew all that about a festiva!
That's a cool little car👍
It’s a ford can’t kill them with a stick
fixed and sale and see how much you can get
It would be a good 1st car for somebody.
Man thats sketchy going out without brakes. Come on dude.
It’s bad sketchy! At least it was on a little backroad with no traffic!
Wash it. Should clean up nicely
Fellow Mississippi boy?
Yessir🫡
This is actually very entertaining to watch, I can see this going a long way
Thanks for the support buddy🫡
Cool little (but very usefull) car. Never saw it in Europe. I suppose it's like a Fiesta.
A Fiesta wishes it was a Festiva!
Clean her up and make her a full driver
No EV runs, they just buzz!
Festiva revival for the win!!!
I've always wanted one of these, i still look but man are they expensive for a running driving rig. That interior is looks exactly like my old Mazda 323.
I haven’t paid more than $500 for one yet! They’re out there!
@@crewcabdart I looked after watching your video and the cheapest I found close to me was 800 and it looked like a tree fell on it and had been rolled 33 times. A Nice one is 2200 no joke.
Heck! Keep your eyes peeled! They’ll show up
Such great little cars. Well put together & designed. Shows that you don’t need a big-ass truck to get around! I miss my ‘89 that I had 26 years ago. Did great until I hit a deer 😢
Those were great little cars!
Had my '93 Festy from 1996 to 2016 ...70K to 270 K most reliable car I had ever owned ... tho don't miss the lack of (any) options ..my '02 Taurus Wagon is a Lux car in comparison...
Clean it up and get it running good
He is a survivor and wants to live
I’d like to have something similar myself just to run around in. My Silverado drinks too much gas! Lol
Be careful when pulling e brakes on cars you're not familiar with. They like to stick if they don't get used often, especially if they've been sitting for a while. Neat little car, just needs some TLC.
I definitely got lucky this one didn’t stick! But in this case it’s rather it had stuck then had nothing at all!
I had one of those tapes too!!! Or ive seen it. Maybe a cd too
so I've spent about a year looking for a Festiva I wish there was possible to find one where I live for a realistic price the cheapest one I've ever been able to find was 10k
Wow! You must not live in the US then!
@@crewcabdart I live in the US I live in PA
I’ve only ever seen 1 festiva go for 10k! And it was wild!
This was Kia’s first American import through Ford.
Kia body with a Mazda engine and a Ford badge!
And ford product planners were smoking crack and should of never put a ford badge on that pile of crap. It's as wrong as rebadging a corvette as a huyndai
I've had 5. 88, 89, 90,91. I've found another one. Danny
I aspire to have 5!
Wasn't the Ford Aspire the next generation of Festiva?...I think they used the same engine/transmission. for some reason, people did not take well to the Aspire.
I haven’t finished the video but does it have the underwear storage tray on the passenger side?
Also you forget the best part about the 88-89 being that they don’t have the automatic seatbelts
This one unfortunately is missing the mythical under seat storage tray!
that music is haunting as hell
