Well, I saw it in the theater and absolutely dug it. I give it a 7/10 review. You have to admit, Friday the 13th is old hat. I admit, I like the slasher genre. This basically turned everything around with it. No jump scares. No music. Minimal dialogue. Kills were great in it. And the ending served its purpose. Although I could've trimmed out about half of it. It made you feel as an audience member: 'Where's Johnny? He's going to pop out any second.' And he doesn't. It made you afraid of that. And the ending was very much like Halloween in the original. 'He's still out there lurking' in the woods. I thought the concept was neat, and I'll try to revisit it again. I'll probably buy the Blu-ray of it if it gets released.
Great review. I feel this movie needed the music. The original Halloween without music was said to be boring and audience wasn’t engaged. Once carpenter put a score to it, it popped. I agree on length! It could’ve been probably an hour and been ok. The kills were pretty good and as I said in video review, I feel they missed a big kill at the lake. Drowning? Didn’t even see it happen. I’ll definitely watch again for the kills and fast forward the walking around. Thank you for the comment and view. Mike

I absolutely loved it. It was exactly what I expected and it delivered the goods right down to all the humor. I can't wait for a part 2. Johnny might become a cult classic. I never trust rotten tomatoes anyway!
The only thing I can say is to say that if you think Strangers part 1 was better than this your way off. Strangers was slow, boring ,bad acting and everything about it just sucked period. I think one of the worst horror movies of the year. This movie was average and needed a music score bad.
Agree with the music score! Can make or break a movie. Probably 20 minutes less of ASMR walking through woods as well. Thanks for the comments. Mike
