Great video quality, but the sound is turned way down and skips. Glad we get both, but the sound is set to low. It is a beautifully crisp picture and we do get both songs, but the bass and drums are driving this and they aren't loud enough. Listen to the blurry version of The Mixer and you can hear the difference right off. I had to turn it all the way up to get sound at all. Plus, I want to hear what the studio director said to Mark. :)
Without a doubt. From Slates etc in 1977 to Autochip in 2015. Saw them live many times. Loved the way MES 'interacted' with the audience...chucking his mic into the crowd...or wading in early days 😂 Totally wired...
I first heard the fall while I was sleeping it was on a college radio station and when I woke up I thought that was the coolest dream because there's no band in reality that could be like that. Then it happened again I fell asleep in dream and this station played a fall song and I'm like wow I'm having great dreams. Then in reality I walked into a club filled with Nazis in uniform Communists and uniform punks bikers rednecks and post punk people. Fiery Jack what's playing in everyone was singing to it. This was like a dream but it was real and that's when I knew that this is the best band ever that was in 1980 I still think that way.
@@Rfk1966 You think? I just have Before The Fall, During The Fall, After The Fall. S'funny, I've been listening all day, again, it really doesn't matter to me what came when. Fall Time All The Time!
Fun fact: keyboardist Julia Nagles ex husband Chris was engineer on Unknown Pleasures. I think this line up of The Fall should have covered Bizarre Love Triangle. I'll get me coat.😏
Who is playing bass and who is playing drums in this? I stopped buying my Fall records late '80s. Don't really know anything about this later period. Heck, I didn't even know Brix rejoined The Fall! The two songs in this video are pretty darn excellent. Who is on bass and drums?
@@paraffinbrain3019 Thanks. Hanley. I suppose I should be checking out some of this later Fall material. I loved all the wicked early stuff and then loved the Brix years. Never heard this era. I like what I hear.
90’s on is a little more hit & miss than the 80’s but 2000-2010 in particular saw some of their greatest songs & some albums every bit as good as the earlier classics.
....how come The Fall are instantly crap....but eventualy the most brilliant band you ever heard..? They are the fall of Rock n Roll...the Fall of the egocentric presentation....and The Fall of sexist and pretentious and outrageously expensive marketing..? The Fall 1.....The Others..0
Where's Craig? Why is Brix semi-acoustic? Why is funky Si using rods? Hardly matters but did the teeee veeeee show impose volume restrictions? Which would also help to explain why Nagle's keys are so loud on P Keg. Tbh when she turned up it didn't seem to do Mark any favours... I know they were a 'group' not a soap opera but....
Steve Hanley. Driving force for 20 years.
Thanks for uploading this beauty. Lesser quality versions of this performance of "The Mixer" had previously transfixed me. Now this has.

Almost melancholic !
Not usually a term I'd use to describe The Fall
Most underrated band ever
For sure, John Peel played them regularly on his evening slot; a big fan. U.K. only unfortunately.

i see this comment in every video of every band
More like...the.shittiest.band.ever. 😂
Every time I hear a fall song for the first time I always think damn they were a very unique band, Mark was a lyrical genius!
Excellent band great performance here. That signature voice inflection is them! Shessa great on the 12 string acoustic love it.
This is beautiful, Brix is so strong and. loving at this point. Our alcohol problem evident.
Wonderful. I first heard The Fall as a young(ish) woman in the early 80s and was transfixed. Still am!
They don't disappoint. A band might have phases; The Fall has many eras.

Hanley sounds immense on Powder Keg. Great performances.
This is genius. Completely out this world. Free. Weird instrumentation. Reminds me a bit of sunra 😀
He was…Damo Suz-oo-keh’..;-)
I love this low fi version of The Mixer !
Almost melancholic , with beautiful melody , with whatever she's blowing in to !
It's called a "Melodica", (made by Hohner).
Amazing version of the mixer!
Yes it is !
Great quality upload thanks
Music Masters
Great line up, Brix is on fyah
Brix looks happy to be back.
Yet somewhat intense.
Love bands that do their own thing and don't follow the trend, far more interesting and creative.
best band ever
cept for the osees of course
@@mattsimon2646na Kiwis✌️😉💚
Right up there with The Who
Countless Fall fans wholeheartedly agree.
@@mattsimon2646 😂
He's shouting at 'Alexa'! I do it alot too. Mark ol boy.... yrs ahead of your time.
why wasnt the album version like this? this is so hypnotic i love it
Studio version was pure shit....Compared to this F’n Banger
The Peel Session exists, that's more of what you're after 😎
Almost melancholic !
They almost seem to have...fun?! Lovely Video, thanks for this
Marks’ ecstasy binge, the Mondays fault, keeps a straight face still mind.
Thanks for uploading this.
Ooh only the best most underrated ever possibly
Not underrated ever.
Saw em locally a yr or 2 before mark died...one of my favourite gigs, they were amazing...i was never a big fan but fuck me, they fuckin rocked
Saw him at a social in Leeds the year before he died and he was the most observant person there.
So so different and original ❤
everybody shitting themselves incase they're sacked
Brilliant!
great footage!
Superb 🔥🔥🔥
The king of Sedgley Park and North Manchester
They could still cut it live even though they were a mess at the time.
thank you for barely changing
B A S S !
He is driving those songs so fine
I've got to say that I've never seen this before
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤love this album
Agree. It has a soft, mellow mix. But this version is far superior
Brix looks 🔥
Mark E Smith - total legend :D
That Drummer is a beast.
"Funky" Simon Wolstencroft. A legend even amongst a long list of great Fall drummers.
@@Tenskwatawa4UFunky Si 😅
Simon Wolstencraft
Especially when you take into account how long he’d been at it by then
Awesome 👍😎 thanks

really working those cameras, Brix :)

Julia assisted on New Order’s Movement.
Poor Mark couldn’t get that damn little tape player working!
This is a man who despised computers but did more damage live with transistors & walkmen than anybody.
Industry and techniques create a register for disturbance.
Unusual but great ( the Mixer )
The keys player is pretty awesome !
Julia Nagle ? That right ?
Correct!
Mark's absolutely shitty mic technique was crucial to his sound, lol
No Scanlon ?
Was he not in the band at this time ?
Out to Fuxter Schittley!
After 40 years , he still could never get the microphone at the correct height !
😂

Hold your fire. You are a provincial area.
Just turned on to this...i guess that guy is dead
Mark E.? Sadly Gone- there’s a street Mural in Manchester
Heck, he's not even 40 when this was filmed. The guy lived hard.
He died more than two decades after this in 2018.

I love how the band members all have the same look that Putins cabinet members have 🥺
Who is that on keyboard ?
I think that’s a newish girl, Elena, she played with the fall in San Diego when I saw them truly a great gig!!
@@josejones7025 No, Elena didn't join until 2002, and anyway that's a male ;)

Band just fine but sad to see Mark E. like this.
What, young and not pushing his falth teeth out all the time?
He looks relatively very well in this compared to one years later.

Yeah he was going downhill quite fast by this stage

JUNO 106 sighting. Dang that lead singer is quasimodo's cousin - sorry didn't mean singer
Amazing. But I do not agree on an acoustic guitar in The Fall.
Now I'm contradicting myself. It goes well in this tune.

I suggest if you don’t understand this music you go back to listening to boy bands etc; clearly you have no taste.
