I am glad you made this video. I have been struggling with me being on top of the schedule. After making some adjustment to the schedule and do what is doable makes it more enjoyable. Agreed. Love your video.
Really appreciate the time and energy you spent in creating this video and the walkthrough of Becker, super helpful and eye opening! God bless you and your family, during this time of intense studying! You got this!! Looking forward to your future videos.
Thanks for being so supportive! I like to share all of this because I've looked for stuff like it as I was planning my studies and there's very little out there.
Love these videos! I am in Florida where there is no extra ethics class and your graduate work & work under a CPA can be done at anytime (Before/During/After) the exam within 2 years
The comment below mine from Donna...I agree 100%...I will just add thanks for all the time you take out of your busy schedule for us to show in detail what you are doing! I really wish I would've gone into this field rather than education/psych. Everything you've shared seems so interesting to me! From the point you began your channel, what degree did you have (prior to starting school for your MBA)? Did you have a 4 year degree in general accounting from a public university? Thanks again for everything you do for us and congrats to you!!!
Hi Sara, Fellow Illinois State accounting grad and licensed CPA in Illinois here. I just wanted to clarify the experience requirement. The 1 year experience requirement does not need to be under a CPA, just accounting/finance related work. This is of course specific to Illinois. Keep up the great content and good luck on your CPA journey.
There's a built in software on Macs that allows you to screen record on macintosh. Just search how to screen record on IMac or device of choice. Hope this helps
I loves this-sooo informative! I’m glad you are uploading frequently keeping us all up to date and motivated. I am really keen to buy a planner from Erin Condren but I just can not justify the price - it’s soooo expensive and I live in Australia so postage is expensive too! Please advise anything alternative ? X thank you 😊
Hi Sara, why is it that its expected for almost every accountant to become a CPA? I thought that Certified Public Accountant would be for those working in public accounting only. There is a wave of people becoming cpas who dont have public accounting experience. If someone has only ever been a staff accountant but they are a cpa that means they technically have the ability to audit and do taxes even though they may not know how to do either. I just wanted your thoughts :). Thanks
That’s a great question and one that I’ve gotten quite a bit recently. In school I was taught that the CPA was expected. Most students I went to school with went straight for their masters and sat for the CPA. However, since entering into the profession, I’ve noticed many accountants don’t have the CPA for whatever reason. For me, I wanted it for job security and because it’s always been a goal for myself. One thing I recommend people to do is take a look at some manager (or higher) accounting job postings. What I found, was most upper level positions either prefer or require the CPA. Again, moving up is a goal for me, so the CPA is kind of a requirement. As for doing taxes or auditing - I personally wouldn’t attempt to do work that I’m not trained/qualified to do. This is a huge ethical issue that the AICPA addresses. I hope that makes sense!
Thanks for the info and great questions. Im not working at a firm, but I work for the County as an Accountant and having a CPA is something would set me apart from the next candidate because many positions are step based and time. Very few have CPAs (with the exception of county auditor or other county board members in charge of other depts)
Nope! No plans to work in public accounting. Getting the CPA is more of job security. My current job doesn’t require it but if anything happens, having your CPA definitely sets you apart when it comes to interviews. Also, if you take a look at most senior level accounting positions in private firms, they usually state CPA as either preferred or required. Hope that makes sense 😊
Acca is more recognized in the common wealth nations like the Uk , India, Hong Kong, Australia, and many more. Cpa is recognized but mostly in the USA. The entrance level to take the cpa is higher (150 hour) of school, wise to do the Acca you just need your A-levels
I'm so impressed by how you manage to do so much and study for such an intense test while doing everything else!
Haha I feel like I’m constantly failing everything because I don’t have much time. Soon enough it’ll be done!
Sara you amaze me everytime you do a video.. you are such an amazing young lady juggling and succeeding in all you do! BTW love your nails!!!
Aww thank you!! It’s definitely hard some days but honestly I’ve been planning these days since my undergrad and I’m so excited I’m finally doing it!
You motivate me so much! I love these videos!
Aww! Thank you!!

I would love to see an in depth Becker review please!
I'll make sure to add it to my list!
This was very helpful Sara. Looking forward to the next update 😊

SinDragon8418 interesting... I’ll have to check back and see where I found that! That’s great news though! One less hoop to jump through 😊
Wooohooo! I've been waiting for this!:D
Yay!! CPA update. Keep it up! 👍

I don't wanna hang with this test lol it's too much with regular life. No matter how you plan, it's not enough.
It’s definitely a lot but once you pass, your done!!!
How many times can you take each section if you do not pass?
I don’t know of any limit
So if you get your cpa will you move to a public accounting firm or is it better to have a cpa vs a cma when in a private firm?

Any idea about the value of ACCAs v CPAs where you live I.e illinois
I don’t know any ACCA’s but most people that I went to school with started with their CPAs and started between $49-$65k

It's more user friendly than Roger CPA I opted for when I was doing CPA.
Good to know!
