    Whoever worked on this before did a good job in not destroying the board. It really helps a lot when people restrain the work to the minimum viable without risking it with attempts to repair that go beyond their skills.

    This is a great video! It must feel nice to have so much "work" to do so that you are able to keep planning for the future of NorthridgeFix. I wish you good fortune in finding someone to take your spot and Big Boss' spot in the shop so that you can decompress and begin to have a better work-life balance.

    The other shop replaced the USB-C port and it didn't work so they called it unfixable, but for once they didn't screw up anything worse than it already was . The real question is do you think the USB-C port ever needed replacement or was it always just a burnt out p19 chip ? I would bet the USB-C port was fine and it got misdiagnosed and never tested and anyone who brings that shop a Nintendo Switch that wont power up or take a charge gets a new usb-c port and a trip to your store .

    Ya know, I'm really glad you provide the repair services you do, but at the same time it's very upsetting that more, and more modern tech requires them. Repair services should be for older tech that needs to be brought back to life, not for brand new tech only a few months old. This just shows how much QC is being skived on in order to get the product out as fast as possible, and save as many pennies as they can. It shows how little they care about they're product, and the trust we, as customers, have put into said companies.
    I understand that all companies have manufacturing issues, but it just appears as though they're not building their products as well as they should be. This channel has taught me to never buy Asus laptops because so many have been featured in your repair videos. I may not like Alienware desktop OEMs, but it seems that their laptops are pretty solid. My wife, and I both have one. The one I have was given to me by her, upgraded after 4 yrs, and still works great. Hers is newer, and works great too. After seeing so many Asus videos I just don't trust them, and won't ever buy them.

    What is the purpose of pressing down on the chip like at 10:20 while soldering? What would happen if you didn't do it?

    • @godsonjoseph
      @godsonjoseph ปีที่แล้ว +11

      It is to squeeze out the excess solder under the chip

    • @travispoulin252
      @travispoulin252 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      It presses out the excess solder that was under the chip. If you left it could possibly work fine but you risk the chip not seating properly on the pads and the excess solder could possibly cause a bridge under the chip. Also the center pad is used as a heatsink to dump heat into the board and you want it as close as possible for best heat transfer.

    • @crazyphil7782
      @crazyphil7782 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Squeeze out solder more or less, but to make sure all pins are perfectly flush with the board and get soldered well. Be careful though, you do this with QFN, but never with BGA, I guess this is obvious
