  • A few months ago SRAM released the latest version of their top-of-the-range Eagle AXS wireless transmission, a new generation of wireless electronic gear shifting for performance-oriented riders who want to be able to shift under load. However, with high-performance components comes a premium price tag... Until now, the all-new SRAM GX.

    I recently pulled the trigger and bought the Axs XX T Tyoe. Fitted it to my trail bike and it’s flipping awesome. Doddle to fit and under load gear changes are a game changer. This GX version is the same thing just a fair bit cheaper. Prefer the battery placement too, something them didn’t do on the top tier versions. Awesome kit, SRAM are knocking it our the park at the mo. Paired it up with the new Ultimate stealth brakes also. Tidies up the cockpit and cables hardly noticeable now. Such a clean look with the AxS dropper. 👌👍

    #askgmbntech Doddy, I might be wrong but I noticed you extended the chainstay protector on your Spectral 125? I am thinking of buying the Spectral 125 CF8 and read a lot of comments online mentioning that the factory chainstay protector is kinda short. As a result the chain is chipping off the paint close to the chainring. I think i actually noticed it happening on Anna’s bike. Is that the case? If yes, what do you recommend as a solution? Thanks, Trian.

    I'd like to know if there is a T-type chain ring that will fit the Quarc DUB zero power meter (which is already the 8-bolt pattern). I'd consider upgrading if I could keep the XX1 carbon cranks and power meter; certainly seems you could just mount the new T-type ring on the XX1 8-bolt crank, but the power meter is the issue.

    I think the SRAM T-type AXS Transmission is perfect for a full power MTB; but my 17 yr old MTB with Shimano Deore XT 3X10 has always shifted reliably under extreme duress going up a steep bluff in the woods! It was a weak clutch for sure, but the main problem was the whole DR slopping around as there is no cable housing to keep it tensioned. This new T-Type DR doesn't move, and they have increased the tension on the clutch. Downside is they say it does wear the battery down quicker. But apparently no more chain slap.

In old X-sync there also was labels everythere "only x-sync, only sram" - i managed to race XC races for two years with cheap AliExpress front chainrings with my Sram Eagle GX AXS, ~3000km. That being said, the NX cassette is kind of garbage so it'd make more sense to sell it if it's relatively new or wear it out and then upgrade.

      Not Doddy, but it will be absolutely perfect for ebikes. I believe they are rated for up to 2000w of power underload shifting, so your average ebike up to 600w plus whatever your legs are cranking will not overload it

    • @shaneycarter8803

      It uses the same dub bottom bracket. But you need to install a 7.5mm spacer on the drive side and a 3mm spacer on the non drive side, both external. This is due to the wider chain line. It should come with these but if not they can be purchased.
      Inspect the dub bracket before installing the new wider crankset to ensure all the bearings are running fine. If so apply grease and you are good to go. 👍

    Man, this is an unreasonably hard to find product from retailers because confusingly they all still list the old one if you just search for "gx eagle axs" for example. Also many retailers don't seem to show the bash guards on the chainring but I guess there's no variants here and they've just not installed them for the shots?

    #askgmbntech When I was buying my bike I think the issue with SRAM cassettes, compared to Shimano, was that the steps between gears were too big. I have Deore XT 10-51T on my bike (1x12) and I find the spacing between gears quite nice. It allows me to smoothly shift to lower gears when climbing without the lower gear being too low. I feel that having a bigger difference between gears would make it less smooth. Current gear would be too high but shifting to lower would be too low. Is this an issue on current SRAM cassettes?

    • @rustler08
      @rustler08 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That was never an issue, even on the old setup of SRAM

    • @mpvabi95
      @mpvabi95 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      New spacing is not that different if you check Shimano is: 11-13-15-18-21-24-28-33-39-45-51 and the new T-Type Cassette is: 10-12-14-16-18-21-24-28-32-38-44-52.
      Spacing in the middle is around nearly the same but you got an easyer gear and a harder gear🤷‍♂️
