When you come from a long line of people who have lived in the same place for hundreds of years you realise that you belong to that land. The sense of "home" is strong, the land owns you and you can sense the connection.

It is always humbling to walk where your ancestors walked. Genealogy is an amazing way to bridge the gaps between generations that makes you appreciate where you come from a little bit more. I am so happy that you are making progress in your journey.

I so love this, and Tennessee. My husband is from around Asheville N.C. His Grandpa lived to be almost 101, and the old homestead is still lived in by his soon to be 80 year old daughter. She never married, and never left that mountain. He has also been tracing his family, and there are pictures of one of his Great-Grandmothers dressed in her full Cherokee Clothing. Her Headstone, simply says Indian Princess. It's exciting to search and know where you came from. I enjoyed this very much...thank you for the sounds of the falls, and for sharing your important story. Can't wait to hear what else you find. Makes me homesick for the mountains. Not until October, but it will get here. God Bless you and your family.

I loved this. I’ve been having dreams lately about inheriting land. I don’t have any one to inherit land from but I feel like God is calling me back to family land somewhere or somehow. I just haven’t figured it out yet. All in God’s time. I will say when you said Monroe county TN, I got chills because where I’ve been somewhat drawn is Monroe County WV. My family dates back there even before it was WV. Any way, keep sharing genealogy.

My heart Swelled for you! I remember how I felt when I found my 3rd Great Grandfather's Square Mile of land! Which was taken by Quick Claim Deeds when the Courthouse burned! A little too convenient I thought. SO Happy for you and your family! It's AMAZING to stand where they once stood. On Land that they once OWNED!! GOD bless

Oh! Bald River Falls is one of my favorite places on earth. That drive is so beautiful in the fall. He was blessed to have owned that land. I am getting goosebumps as I watch this. It means a lot to me. I am in process of learning about one of my ancestors who was John Wilder who started the Light Brigade during the Civil War. He later became the Mayor of Chattanooga. I get chills just thinking about the fact that I carry this man’s DNA in me. He is a part of who I am. And his grandfather was at the Boston Tea Party. Both you and I come from some brave men who were leaders in their families and out there on the cutting edge of life during their time in History and it is my belief that since God knew the end from the beginning that He created us with the unique mix and patterns of DNA so that we would have the Character and thought process to live effectively in this, our moment in history. You and I both looked at the world years ago, and we saw the storm coming. I tried to convince my husband to move to a rural area to start a homestead in 1986. He sent me to a psychiatrist. I am serious. I tried to tell them that a time worse than the depression was coming and I needed to start working now to get the homestead up and running smoothly, before it started, so that we could be self reliant. They tried to convince me that I was crazy. But to this very day, every vision I have had, has come true. I was rarely right about the timeframe but I have always been right about the who, what and sometimes the where. We might get back to some parts of normal, but the hard times are not over. 2020 was just the warm up. But we have it inside of us to do what we need to do, to get us and our families through what ever else is coming. God made us just for this.

I totally get this 'draw' toward family history. I've been doing our family genealogy for 25+ years, and there's a feeling you get when you discover new things and places that's like no other. And getting the opportunity to stand on land your ancestor owned brings you so close to them! And I firmly believe that when you are repeatedly drawn to a place near where you know your roots were, someone is pulling you there and telling you to check it out further.

So happy for you sister! How Creator is blessing you! I worked with Indegenious grandmother's from all over the world, and their main message was find your root. Find who you are and where you came from. Your culture your language your food. I once purchased 10 acres right on the north Georgia/North Carolina state line, just south west of Murphy. The minute I walked on that property I knew I had to have it. Ironically the money that paid for it was left to me by my beloved Cherokee grandfather. Years later I discovered it was the exact county my family came from on his Cherokee side. The Ancestors lead us where we need to be! This made me cry. I get it. And you have inspired me to keep looking. I just got another lead!

My other grandfather lived at Lackey Creek in Louisville TN next to the Gillespie’s. Then my grandmother’s family is from Mosheim and Midway in Green County. I found family info at the Greene County Museum. It’s a small world.

Excellent sleuthing! I'm a family historian too. I understand your excitement at this discovery. I made a similar discovery. The area that my husband and I moved to 15 years ago was settled by my GGGGrandparents in 1830. I found when searching at the county courthouse that they were original owners of the 25 acre farm adjacent to their son and daughter and their spouses. They were all living there in the 1840 census but By 1846, they had all died, and the property went to court for auction as they died without a will. So I have the handwritten documents listing all their possessions, who bought them (mostly siblings) and what they paid. I drive there sometimes, about 4 miles from where we live, and try to imagine their farm and home. The property is very expensive now as its right on a lake so we could never afford to buy it. But if we ever could, I would love to. Congratulations on a job well done!

Did not know what until 2020 bored due to lock downs started working on hubbies family tree. I found that his 4th. Great grandfather was born on land right up the road from us! He lived there from 1790 to 1804 when he father took ill and they moved with relatives! He had received the land here by me for payment fighting in the Revolutionary War! One of the first inhabitants of Florence Pa! No wonder we were drawn here! There is Indian blood in his side of the family but I am still hunting for it!

I have my family history on my fathers side back 22 generations. My husband’s fathers family goes back 22 generations also. Love discovering about family. My daughter and son are blessed to have all this information that they can pass on to their children. So happy for you and your family. Family history is to be cherished. God bless y’all in all y’all do. From deep southeast Mississippi.

My maternal line goes back to Florida before it was a state. My paternal line is out if Tennessee before it was a state. I grew up in Florida but retired to a small piece of of heaven on the Tennessee/Kentucky border. I didn't know much about this side of my history but it feels like I came home. Love your channel. Keep up the good work. 👍

I love genealogy! I traced my Daddy's people back to the UK and 1538. Ending up in lower Scotland/Upper England, depending on the winner of the war and the year. I should work on the other side. I think it's always interesting! Great vid!

My great-great-grandmother was from the Cherokee area. Full Cherokee… I wish I could trace her roots and find exactly where she was from.
    Your research is paying off.
    Blessings from NE Mississippi 🙏🏻😎🦋

Patera, I'm so happy for you. You made me realize how lucky I am to have know where my grandfather lived most of his life. As you said, it's not interesting to everyone... My parents, uncles, aunts and their progeny have lived our lives making our living from the same ground he did as a cattle rancher. He had to sell over half his land after the 30's drought, but nevertheless was able to bless his 7 surviving children with a good stake from which to begin. I grew up with cousins for neighbors on all sides. I guess I thought everyone did until I was in Jr High and began learning of all my friends who had to travel great distances for holidays. Our family just rotated hosting the major holidays, but we also had a big family birthday party in July because there were so many July babies. Freezers and freezers of homemade ice cream and 3 or four cakes were the norm. I feel privileged that my grandchildren have grown up on that land too... and I'm looking forward to telling them the family stories I've found one by one over my lifelong search. It was the WOMEN who had the fortitude to keep moving forward. May your searches be blessed.
